It was on at 6:30pm and ran for just ten minutes, which was by far the best ten minutes of my day, every day! It was then a race to the TV set to switch the channel to Channel 9 for the Bugs Bunny Show. Then us kids would go and do something else . . anything else . . while our British parents (Scottish and Welsh) watched the ABC for the rest of the evening. To this day I won't watch the ABC at all. Just like I won't eat steak'n'kidney, fish cakes, rice pudding, bread'n'butter pudding, and all the other English food Mum used to cook us.

Great live performance, and so rare to see a fretless bass in those days!

Yep. GTK (Get To Know.) Just a short music segment on ABC. Think it only went for about 15 minutes. Very fond memories as a Teenager.

GTK was on at 630 pm. and it ran for just 10 minutes, before a long running serial Bellbird. It always featured local talent, Australian, and, of course, Kiwi talent that came onto the Australian map. With the right acts was always a gritty luxury, a special helping for dinner....

I was 9 when 2SM in Sydney started spoiling us with this gritty track in 1971. There was no such thing as ACDC & even Sherbert was struggling for airplay. Aussie outfits like the La De Das had to entertain in the pubs before they ever made it onto concert stages. Aust & NZ had some truly gifted muzos & we were very lucky our djs had the freedom to play our local group's records in amongst a lot of bid dollar refined stuff out of the USA. Daddy Cool was probably our most loved local band in 1971 after they floored the world with Eagle Rock complete with dancing eagle footage in the film clip & shows like GTK saw the quality & potential in our local rockers & unleased great local clips onto our black & white tellies. The intro on Gonna See My Baby Tonight was unmistakable & instantly recognisable & as soon as you heard it come onto the radio, you'd twist the volume knob on the car radio until the ashtray rattled out of the dash in your Dad's HR Holden. Cranking the La De Das was safer in an FC Holden because the ashtray was set into the top of the dash & it couldn't rattle out & land upsidedown in your lap!

Boy, they stuffed that up. Phil Keys missed his queue twice. The drummer got bored and a bit bemused. Still, great song.
