      Most definitely when I was with my Canadian ex I set my computer up in the back laundry room first it was on the dryers side but then I got the bright idea to use the smaller area that way I could do my videos and have some privacy with hanging up a curtain using steel piping and fitting my grandfather acquired for the project so I ended up buying a 65 inch tv so I could watch movies and play my ps4 but realized I needed a better sound bar so I found a 4.1 Samsung sound bar for around fairly cheap I’m wanting to say around 200-300 it may have been less however it served its purpose gave me great audio for gaming and watching movies along with listening to music but I will be putting into my moms room so she can have better audio the reason I’m letting her eventually use it is because I have a full surround sound system running in atmos so 5.1.2 though the Sony receiver I have can do 7.2 and 5.2.2 so if I really wanted to I could add a second subwoofer…but I’m good as my room isn’t insanely huge and I think one subwoofer works plenty I feel like if I added another it would be too much and unbearable and would drown out the main speakers including the surrounds and height speakers, bass is good too much bass can have the opposite effect on the listening experience and immersion!

    Dereck, I would bet they use those 5.25" woofers in many different devices so, theyre a "one size fits all" solution for the company and they just get them in bulk to put in everything.
    Also, those little sound bar speakers look like mini versions of the old school Boston Acoustic 6x9 subwoofers. Remember those?

    Sound bars are good for small apartments or rooms with limited space fact is I used a sound bar for years a Samsung 4.1 sound bar with wireless rear speakers in my old area down stairs then after I beat cancer I moved back upstairs where I then started planning my system layout for the longest I used the Samsung sound bar I mentioned above but that wasn’t enough for me so I did some researching and found a Yamaha 5.1 speaker bundle that I used for a bit then upgraded the receiver to a Sony 7.2/5.2.2 receiver threw in some Sony atmos speakers for my
    Heights then upgraded the subwoofer to a 12 inch Klipsch R12-SW ported subwoofer and finally upgraded my main speakers to a klipsch bundle and I have to say I’m satisfied with it, movies sound amazing, gaming is also enjoyable as well as listening to music from time to time, but ima say this if you don’t have a lot of space to work with then a sound bar may not be a bad option, if you’re not looking for wall shaking bass and just want to improve your audio quality for movies and games and aren’t worried about where the sound is coming from I’d recommend a 2.1 sound bar there’s a lot out there with an affordable price!

    It doesn't matter how much you pay for a tv, the built-in sound on all modern tv's is total garbage. Companies have this unhealthy fascination with making screens as thin as possible. They can only make them so thin until there's literally nothing to them. So it leaves nothing as far as sound goes and they have to resort to tricks to make the sound bounce off the wall.

    • @glitches911

      Surprisingly many of the Samsung and others higher end models sound just as good as a cheap sound bar. They have subs in Samsung oleds!!!! I wouldn't believe it had I not heard it myself. Sounded as good as the Sonos beam beneath it that wasn't working...

I wouldn't mind having something that big but it's way out of my price range. You sure wouldn't need a theater screen and a projector to make a in-house movie theater with something that big.

    Its ironic that as the image quality and screen size both got better on tvs , the sound got worse. My first Panasonic 42* plasma actually had a woofer chamber built in which I didnt use because I already had a full size surround system. Nowadays the sound choices are limited to diffrent levels of soundbars unless you want to spend upwards of $1k for full size speakers and a reciever.

    We have a small den where we watch a 55" flatscreen. Couldn't justify HT there, so we went the soundbar & pseudo subwoofer route through hdmi arc for under $300, consisting of a Yamaha SR-B20A sound bar and a Polk PSW-10. Does the job nicely in its limitations, and can double as a bluetooth sound source if necessary, but AAC format in that case. I don't think I'd go cheaper. Unfortunately, prices are skyrocketing, and a decent pairing seems to be approaching $500..If needing to do something similar again in the future, I'd have to assess the best choices at that time.
    PS) If a speaker that's 2x3" is going to produce any bass, it needs a reasonable linear x-max travel to achieve that, hence a depth in the third dimension..😉

    The sound signal from the TV can vary so widely, you know it's bad when you add a soundbar, and it sounds worse than the TV speakers when the soundbar is plugged into the TV, but sounds incredible when plugged into the cable box using a splitter and 2 HDMI cables (one to the TV, one to the Soundbar)

    Most normal TV speakers suck and are only good for shows that are primarily talking. I had sound bars in the past that didn't sound good and had no adjustability, but I recently got the bug again and wound up getting a good deal on an open box Samsung Dolby ATMOS sound bar with wireless sub from Best Buy. It's not audiophile grade, but it sounds great for movies and music, and paying $270 for a $600 setup made it all the better.

    Upgraded to a 75" earlier this year and couldn't use my Panasonic surround as it only had RCA inputs. Figured I'd update to a more modern surround, but even spending $300 on one, they have very mixed reviews.
    Had $50 in Amazon gift cards from giving blood, so I went ahead and snatched one of these up for under $30. Hopefully it does fairly well. I know it can't be worse than the speakers in the TV, but I know it won't be anywhere near as good as my old 500W Panasonic. That thing could shake shit in the house surprisingly.

  • @gotham61
    @gotham61 13 годин тому

    Systems like this use a lot of DSP manipulation to control the output level to avoid distortion, and to tailor the frequency response. I expect the the subwoofer channel has a high pass filter above your 40 Hz test tone, to prevent buzzing and rattling from the sub. Try again with a 80 or 100 Hz tone and I expect you’ll get more output, although you’ll probably still run into a volume limiter and bass compressor.

  • @SomebodysNephew
    @SomebodysNephew День тому +1

    Budget soundbars sound pretty bad but they work GREAT as an Amp with features for a better sub and set of bookshelf speakers you own. Just take it apart and run the positive and negative wires to a nice set of bookshelf speakers and maybe the sub if it's THAT bad but then you're in it for more money. Typically just making those crappy soundbar speakers sound good via powering bookshelves with them is the most effective mod for them unless you just have everything lying around. I have a Philips Fidelio soundbar and dual sub setup that I LOVE and it actually sounds great. Otherwise on a budget you're gonna get a better more natural sound from a powered set of edifier or something. Soundbar are way overpriced nowadays for what you actually get. There's not much budget room on them for quality I've only ever seen a handful I liked and they're $600-1000+ and far and few inbetween.
