Perhaps I did not hear The Velvelettes as I did most of the Motown singers when I was a child, The Velvelettes became my favorite Motown gal group next to The Marvelettes. The best thing is that I hear this music free on UA-cam.
Please check out their take on The Spinners' "One Of A Kind (Love Affair)", The Supremes' "Long Gone Lover" as well as their hits "Needle in a Haystack", "He Was Really Sayin' Something", "Should I Tell Them" and Tu Perds Le Plus Merveileux Garçon Du Monde (You Lost The Sweetest Boy in French) and "Puisque Je Sais Qu'il Est À Moi ('As Long As I Know He's Mine' in French).
According to Wikipedia The Supremes released their version on May 8th, 1962, and The Velvelettes didn't start recording for Motown until January 1963. So, The Supremes did it first.
