For a 10,000 Simolean starter home, that is INSANELY well done. I love stretching budgets with starter homes, but i know full well that 10,000 simolean starter homes that look nice, ESPECIALLY if they're not micro-homes, IS a hard feat. Gorgeous work as always, Kayla!
I'd love to see Kayla build a starter home with no cheats, no hotkey tricks, and no debug landscaping, but she's allowed to use absolutely any packs she wants to achieve this Basically, building like someone who has never played The Sims before, and knows nothing about the game's secret tricks, but has access to basically every asset.
She's tried to do the no-cheats build before, but she still accidentally did use alt-place and a couple of things like that, iirc, because she's so used to doing them that she did it almost on autopilot. A few people called it out in the comments, but of course it was after the fact.
If you could afford the extra couple of bits of wall, and doors, I'd suggest shutting off the entryway, the living room, and the kitchen/dining room, to get that authentically cosy, but tiny, cottage experience! Cottage Living goes so well with tiny home because they (in real life) are accommodations built for working class workers, so they're cramped, but when done right, also super cosy. My sister used to live in the most picturesque cottage in Wales, the walls were stupidly thick, and the tiny living room had an enormous fireplace, the windows were tiny, and you basically never got sunlight on the floors inside, but it was the snuggliest damn place!
Cottage Living is one of my favorite packs! The style is *chef's kiss*. What a fun build to try! Kinda wanna try to do a budget build with Cottage Living now. Someone might already mention it, but since a couple of weeks I've been noticing some quality issues with (mainly) build videos, and videos where you spin around a lot. Where just briefly every 5-10seconds the quality of the video falls/becomes more pixelated. Maybe something to do with exporting the video or video compression or something? It's not really a big deal, but sometimes it's a bit annoying especially with longer speed builds. Does not take away the joy of the video, just something I noticed, because it was never there before!
@@adamarmstrongwrightson9258 honestly, if i was to attempt a 10k starter in Henford-on-Bagley, i'd probably use that insanely cheap double bed from horse ranch- it's one of the cheapest beds in the game and still very much cottagecore (and honestly, i kinda like it better than the CL bed)
Hi Kayla ☺️ Would you consider doing another really large build on a 64X64? Like the farm you made a while ago. Maybe since we have For Rent now, it could be like a neighborhood, and each house could be tailored to an occult (including the new ones)…or maybe each house could be designed around a career, which would be a fun way to use new packs and kits (like a chef, an artist, a Reaper). I think lots of us love bigger builds and long videos 😍 And it would be something a bit different
Not Kayla's video but I really love Caryn&Connie. They don't upload as often but they have a series where they're building rainbow townhouses that I recommend checking out
Im planning on buying cats&dogs and cottage living for the black friday sale :D these are the first packs im getting and i did alot of research to make sure i like it
I can’t believe that there’s FREE bales of hay in debug that are identical to the 100 dollar ones that are seats in buy mode😭 I spent like 1,000 bucks on bales bc I put Patchy in my Reapers Rewards sims’ garden, and I didn’t like how he didn’t blend in at all, so I was like, ‘ might as well get some more bales around him to blend him in!’ ( bc he has a couple around his tree) and I spent so much money that I needed bc I just kept upgrading my house😂 So uhm yea! Ya learn something new every day that’s for sure lol I haven’t gone through Cottage Living debug yet, bc there’s just so much in there and it’s kinda overwhelming 😅
you probably already know this, but an easy-ish way to make sure your layered paths don't get too wide is to start with the darker terrain paint. i imagine it as all layers being the path, but the lighter bit (or darker depending on the terrain) is where people walk most often
I had trouble buying tickets for the stardew concert, too, for the Detroit date! I did notice that the URL I was redirected to said “Starview Valley” instead of Stardew?? I ended up being able to buy when I went through the venue’s page directly. Hope you were able to get yours!!
14:14 I've never understood this. Thermostats seem extremely *unnecessary* to me. I've never used one and my sims are never uncomfortable inside. Am I missing something?
hi simsie !! i’m thinking of getting cottage living as my first pack- i love the build style and i love bunnies/flowers etc. do you have a video that covers gameplay/items in this pack? love u girl
Just found out that you're my #1 gaming creator and that I'm in the 0,8 percent of your viewers (apparently watching u quite a lot) Thanks for accompanying me every night and making falling asleep a lot easier for the last few years!
Hey!! If I can get two packs (i already have seasons, cats and dogs, and parenthood) which should i get? what are the next must-haves for gameplay and cute cozy style building?
Sounds like you enjoy family and farming gameplay, so definitely Cottage Living, Growing Together or maybe Snowy Escape. Home chef hustle, laundry day, tiny living, and romantic garden are pretty good for both gameplay and building/decorating Horse Living is ok but I wouldn’t recommend it over the others unless you’re majorly into horses. Eco lifestyle might be fun for you, if you’re into an off the grid living, especially with Island Living
I feel like a cheater when I use debug, I know that it’s not even that bad, but I can’t help it, I feel like it’s not something that I can use or reach for, can anyone relate?😅
Hey, Simsie. I love your content! Just a quick thought-when you describe something as ‘cheap,’ it can sometimes give the impression of low quality. Maybe using ‘inexpensive’ could better convey that it’s affordable but still good!? Anyway, sorry to be a nitpicker. You just say “cheap” all the time and I think inexpensive often better describes whatever you’re referring to. Keep up the great work! :) This keeps the tone positive and helpful, which is more likely to be well-received.

Cottage living has got to be the best expansion pack

Simsie's done a LOT of budget cottages and she always delivers 🙌
I like how she casually spent 1000 on the bed then struggled rather then was buy cheaper bed

10,000 simoleons! Let’s appreciate the dedication! Kayla is legendary to be able to make a cheap house look as if it costs 100,000! 😅

15:47 that's so cute it kinda reminds me of traditional Norwegian rosemaling
Cottage living is def one of my fav packs for the animals alone 😭
Looooved the design added above the doors! I love when she tries something new with her builds, almost always looks good but she doubts herself a lot.
A lot of debug builders use a debug light. I found them once but keep forgetting about them.
this is adorable! you keep saying that you always do the same landscaping but it works so well, it's so lush and colorful
I love it when you build with cottage living!!! They’re always so fun.

Lilsimsie inspires me to build and do every challenge she does 😂 I just did the collector challenge because she did
Love that I read the into in your voice 😂
The way I see it, TS4 has enough fairly cheap furniture you can make a home in a very small budget, now making it look good?
Yeah that's the hard part

I feel like it’s the layout of the Newbies house from The Sims 1
Can you do a challenge where there's a minimalist house and a cluttered/horders house side by side is think that'd be fun
