    What a great idea! Man I hate dealing with super old attic insulation. I attempted a version of this a few years ago with a leaf blower in vacuum mode and it worked sort of OK but I would have gladly rented a machine like this if I knew such a thing existed at the time. Thanks for sharing, just subscribed!

    Smart man on renting and removing that mess of blown in insulation . It sure gets messy when you just tear the ceiling down .

      Thanks. It makes life a lot easier removing the insulation prior to demo 👍🏽

    How many bags did you end up filling for the 1500 sq ft attic?

    Great info. Regretted not doing this before pulling ceiling down. Is it recommended to remove all old stuff before adding new blown in?

      As long as there is no vermiculite or asbestos insulation there is no need to remove the old insulation. Top up over the old stuff and save some money.

    Can you recommend a lab for insulation testing in Ontario to determine if a home may have asbestos? Google seems to only be listing companies that do the remediation...

    • @simpsonpropertiesltd

      I get my lab samples tested at Fisher Environmental Labs, fisherlabs.ca, (905) 475-7755, 400 Esna Park Drive,
      Markham, ON.

    It's a pain, it sucks, if you have the money, call an insulation company to do it lol. Local company quoted $1500+ cost of a roll off dumpster. So around $2k. Did mine for around $600. Will not do it again.

      It is a major pain. If I have the time I would do it again but if timelines are tight it’s a project worth subbing out hahaha

    Where did you purchase your tyvek suit and full respirator from? I see there’s a ton a variation online and I’m not sure what price range I should expect

    • @simpsonpropertiesltd
      @simpsonpropertiesltd  Рік тому

      Hey, I bought the tyvek suits from Princess Auto. I bought the cheapest ones available. They will get beat up and you will probably have to tape over any tears.
      I’m sure Amazon has cheap ones as well.

      Sorry, I can’t help you out with pricing your job. You have to estimate how many hours the job will take, what your rate is per hour and the equipment/material costs.
