I bought a gt performer exactly like that one brand new when I was 14,loved that bike,I've still got my old 87 dyno pro compe team model and a 94 dyno compe but that gt was given to a neighbor kid years ago, hope he enjoyed it as much as I did
Hi it was car polish. A liquid polymer. Just let it sit for a while per instructions before wiping it off. The rust wasn't really pitted. Mainly just light surface rust. Mainly used the car polish to just put a nice protective coat, shine, and a nice cleaning to the frame. Not really to be used as a rust remover. If the rust would have been bad i would have given the frame an OA Bath. 🙂 I had an old house at that time. I used two of those stoves, one in the front and one in the back, of the house to help assist the furnace with heating. One was left from previous seller and the other one was purchased for only $150 bucks on Craigslist and they work better than the new $2000 dollar stoves that the EPA puts restrictions on! 🙂 Stay Rad
Love the S bend GT frames. That bike cleaned up good. I have a minty grail 1987 GT Pro freestyle Tour team model in dayglo pink and all og parts and powder restored. With a Epoch headset it wont come loose or so they say and so far it hasnt but i dont do tricks on that bike to know for sure. That conversion you talked about will help for sure. Love that 2018 lineage haro master in the back btw,i might score a 87 master(2017 vintage) this week*fingers crossed*
I heard of the Epoch staying tight but I dont wanna take anymore risk trying. I’m gonna put a conversion headset on this weekend and be done with it.yeah, grab that bike! You wont be dissapointed.
I don’t know! I’ve tried everything with 1 inch threaded old school bikes I’ve tried Headlocks I’ve tried bear trap to headsets. I’ve tried different kinds of Headlocks, slam them all the way down, I’ve left a 16th of an inch of space it doesn’t matter no matter what I do they always come loose. I finally gave up and now ride one and 1/8 threadless bikes, mainly middle school bikes.
Gives me hope on my 87 restoration
