This is the best explanation and demo of this and how to turn it off! I have a new 23 Tucson and the first time I took my dog to the store and left him in there (it was cool and nighttime) to run in for a salad...... well let me say it scared the heck out of us when it started Blasting the Horn! Had dinner with no salad that night... I almost considered returning the car cause my dog goes a lot with me! Took me hours of searching the manual and the internet to realize it wasn't the security alarm it was this feature! Thank god it's easy to turn off each time or permanently. Thank you to this clear video with demo. OH AND BY THE WAY---- some of us have the settings in the main dash right behind the steering wheel. The Convenience setting is there though, and within that is the Rear Occupant off/on choice.

I appreciate the comment! That is true that vehicles with the 8" screen has settings controlled through the cluster while the 10.25/12.3" screens have the settings built in.

This is a lifesaving technology that should be standard by 2025, especially for children 👧 , pets 🐶 and elderly👴 who are at risk of a heat stroke 🥵.

I'm sure it is a great addition to prevent someone from accidentally leaving a child in a vehicle.
It is also an annoyance when you don't know it exists and you are car camping in the back of your vehicle. Lock the doors, get comfortable, wake up the campground when the horn sounds, repeat until you figure it out. Yeah...

You can turn it off fortunately. That would be quite the scare!

outstanding video. considering how obnoxious the alert is (i know nothing matters compared to lives but they COULD do a horn blip first instead of laying on it) - i'm happy there's a reasonable way to temporarily suspend the system. without this i'm sure many would simply shut it off
when i have my doggy or kidlets with me i usually open some part of the windows yet lock the door while getting gas etc.... additionally when traveling i hate to think that if i run into a gas station and leave my wife and kids in the car but still wish to hit the lock button they'll be subjected to the full on panic alarm as soon as someone moves.

Thank you! It does sounds fairly long "honks" from the horn during the alarm function. It does the job of getting attention from the outside but I can see your point of being a slight issue in some scenarios.

Rear Occupant Alert maybe a nuisance to you, but it would be worth the price for me. Putting your kids, pets or elderly in the car out in a hot sunny day is like a canary in the coal mine.
