Recently I was handed the task of church lighting. I am excited and nervous regarding the overwhelming responsibility of maintaining and engaging worship environment. So I've been searching for tools to help me. This video is an encouragement and it affirms my approach in serving our God within the ministry. Thanks guys, for taking the time to produce this video.
Thanks for doing such a great work putting this interview together. Let's Praise God with all we got and help others to engage with him for at the end of the day helping to accomplish the great call is all worth it. (someone's salvation)
@BryanMorganMusic Not really. That term has been used to describe the ridiculous "wars" that break out regarding different worship styles, i.e. traditional vs contemporary.
Though I am all for investing in church buildings, this help builds family, this helps make that family proud and feel at home. Particularly for those who are either homeless, have family problems struggling financially etc.... however the money needs to be invested in creating an atmosphere for those people, not for stages, lighting and events. The church needs to move away from the insistence of worship in their gatherings but rather insist on the heart of God being taught which is found in his word. To teach and lead people to laying down their lives as a living sacrifice, that is their true and proper worship. This is where the investment needs to be diverted. Jesus came not for the religious but for the sinners, the lost and the broken. They need your help and your resources, they are in your community and they are being overlooked, discarded and rejected. Is this what Jesus has called his Church to do? Don't get me wrong, (I'm a worship leader myself) worship is amazing, singing songs to the father is our joy and privilege. Using our gifting in creativity is a form of worship. But worship has become something of an event, it has to be an event to draw people to it. My prayer is that we see past the things of this world and look at where Jesus wants us to go, see where Jesus would be. My prayer is that church would use its beautifully blessed resources to pour out into their communities by blessing each other. This is how we honour God.
Hey guys, just go read Revelation 4 (as many versions as you can get your hands on) in terms of lighting, sound, and textures or colors or atmosphere. Almost forget it as the Bible and see it as a stage setup profile. Now, that is what has been happening for eternity past and will for eternity future ... it's like being at a high tech rock concert for eternity.
Well said brother! This video is full of grace and seasoned with salt. When Jesus flipped the tables, he was getting mad at the Pharisees for selling things in the temple. This is a different topic. Let's do better to worship in spirit and in truth. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God including myself. My words are not in condemnation but rather in encouragement to call sin, sin and to allow grace to abound in matters in which there is no biblical answer. Is it a sin to use technology? If it is, we may have had to hold the apostles accountable for using boats and taking soundings off the coast of Malta. Either way, I appeal to you to agree with one another that this is not a matter of right and wrong. (See 1 Cor 1:10) It is an area that is not clearly specified by our sovereign Creator. Whatever you do, do it to the glory of God and be blessed whether your church uses technology in the form of electronics, or in the form of horses and buggies. (See definition of technology)
i go to church because of the light show and to be entertained,, where is the sissor platform?,,,people need to have aids to connect?.. where did we get lost? why use these objects to witness ,, did Jesus really need us to go in this direction? I say the holy spirit.. and if you have the money then give it people who need it. Go out and share the witness.. down to the word.. church has turned into a profit business,, ..amen
What on Earth is going on? Why do you need all of this paraphernalia to spread the Word, when surely all you should need is the Word itself? Isn't this detracting from what Jesus was all about: simplicity, humility and love? It seems the church is becoming a grotesque parody of itself. He will overturn your tables before long.
It does not distract. It's a reflection of the beauty of God's glory. We do our best to reflect the emotion behind the music and lyrics and create a beautiful picture of worship as a whole to God. The colors of the world don't distract us from God, they only remind us.
***** I really beg to differ. How is the use of lighting and video a reflection of God's glory? Artifice and glamour are man-made. Did Jesus have lighting and video at the surmon on the mount? No. He had the Word and the Word was enough. True Christians rejoice in the Word, and those that are truly faithful need nothing else. Being drawn to worship by the promise of a lightshow and rock music is not true worship. You can see beauty in nature: God's true creation. Those are the true colours of the world and the true glory of God. Rejoice and worship through these things.
Very True for True Christians. But todays unchurched generation will not walk through the doors without all the lights and sound. It's kind of sad to say that, but it's true. They won't come unless you offer them something that they like. I know...it's not about me or them. Hopefully you get what I'm trying to say and doing a horrible job at saying. :( I'm really not good at things like this. I think of Paul in 1st Corinthians when he spoke about becoming like someone to reach that person. Sadly, people want to be entertained and that what some churches are called to do to reach those people. For though I am free from all, iI have made myself a servant to all, that I might jwin more of them. 20 To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law. 21 To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law. 22 To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. 23 I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings. Please forgive me for rambling. I usually don't reply to a lot of things because I am horrible at expressing what I'm trying to say.
jrv94 I know cause he had them available to him and he just decided not to use them. I guess you would say that Jesus wouldn't of used a microphone either.
this is so wrong , most of you young so called worship leaders are only drawing attention to you and the congregation are only going on emotion not worshiping the true God , they are worshiping little gods that are playing with there lights off. I was a worship leader and God convicted me of bringing all this new stuff in the way I was leading worship..we don't need all that garbage to lead the people in worship .
The Bible does not endorse one style of worship over another. You should be careful judging others because they worship God differently than you. bible.org/seriespage/lesson-17-sin-judging-others-james-411-12

0:45 "worship wars?" There's a new one.
Love ur video, but disagree on the book, the book started good but it gets 2 narrowed minded about social networking.

OMG! Sorry but this one is hard to watch, not meaning you! Worship is priceless to bring it down to a show is messing up a lot of stuff!
So, using modern technology as a way to try to demonstrate the awesomeness of God and the spectacular event of creation is wrong? How so?

Isn't that sort of the point of the video? We can use things as long as they add rather than take away?
