Hi Folks, the local Record fair has come around once again to rural Devon.
Have another rummage with me through the bins. By all means watch a bit n come back later, here are some headings ok, cheers.

Love seeing the flip -throughs and getting a glimpse of what's on offer at record fairs around the UK and the pricing!
Certainly a bit heavy on the pricing, but quite busy and lots of money changing hands. Good for rarer finds, but at a price. Cheers

Record fairs are, effectively, pop-up record shops and most regular sellers mark up preloved vinyl to equate to bricks & mortar independent record shops. There is limited market appeal for punk/post-punk 7" so that seller might be hauling those boxes around for a while. The readily available 70's/80's albums have mostly giddy ticket prices - Clapton's 461 Ocean Boulevard at £12 for example, which is a £fiver record in the real world. That said, there were some interesting titles to be found and hopefully the sellers were open to some hard bargaining. It bugs me though when preloved is mixed in with new vinyl. Thanks for showing, Stevie.
I think they fully expect a bit of haggling, they're certainly not shy of marking things to the max. I too am a bit confused at the new vinyl. Especially as its easy to get online. I think they reply a bit on a captive rural audience and those who haven't got their eye in that much on prices of stuff.
I'd love to see a record fair made up of just everyday folk with spare records, with no traders, selling at reasonable prices and swapping stuff, cheers Richard

Bit on the high side for me, sellers trying it on a bit with a somewhat captive audience. A couple of things I should have bought. I passed on a 12" for £15 so just bought some £2 ones, cheers

To be honest It was a definite contender for the thumbnail. 1981 was a killer year 👍

haha I know, metal is not my bag. Tried to just focus on a bit of Indie and punk but very crowded. Its only a small rural one that comes round so its good that they do.
First stall, great punk and alternative 7" selection at fair prices. Think I know this stall... Seller at 23 mins, that's a lot of cheapo stuff at inflated prices. Eighties Slade albums for £20? Billy Idol White Wedding 12"£12? Billy Joel and America LP's over a tenner.. He can fill up from my £2/3 bins anytime. Stall at 26 mins, nice hard to find punk albums including a bunch of USA bands. Enjoyed the video.😊
Its a rural fair that comes round every three months hence they do tend to jack some of the prices quite a bit. When I have bought something though there's always a bit off to bring it somewhat nearer to reality. Having said that it was quite crowded and I saw quiet a bit of cash changing hands so they had a good day. I agree with you that some of the run of the mill stuff was way overpriced, cheers
Brilliant vid Stevie, excuse the pun but showing the price is always the money shot in these sort of videos. Like every fair a mixed bag of pricing. £50.00 for Low Life!!! Certainly a few American punk things I would have taken there. I’m fascinated by the conversations in the background 😂
It was actually quite a slapdash affair as I wasn't planning anything special. I think I am just getting a bit better at holding the phone steady despite it being a bit crowded. I hope you appreciated the quick mini zoom in on the price for the Husker Du's! I know £40/£50 for alot of stuff what!! I am not keen on finding 12" I fancy only to find they are priced at £15! There's trying it on and then there's trying it on. This one was taking the p**s a bit. I did jack up the volume so as too enhance the rummage fetish sounds. I might think about doing an 8hr relaxation record fair video with just conversations about albums n price negotiations. I was a bit concerned for the boy at the last seller, she stopped just short of molesting him in some fashion! Cheers 👍
That Live Retro EP by Ultravox! is a must have... The versions of Young Savage and Wild The Beautiful and the Damned are top draw, and probably better than the studio versions.. Just a shame they sound not that good on a 7" EP format
I can't think of Young Savage without thinking of the Awaydays film soundtrack. My all time early Vox fave is Hiroshima Mon Amour followed closely by Just For a Moment. I'll keep an eye out for a cheap copy, cheers
It just goes to show, you can spend as much as you want on any record. You just have to find the seller with the highest price!
Hi John, indeed alot of the prices were at the upper end of the phrase 'trying it on'. I think they think at a rural fair with a somewhat captive audience they can push it a bit. Not everyone arrived on a horse n cart as far as I can tell!

Hi Stevie, missed a few of your vids so playing catch up. There's some decent stuff it's just the prices and it's all done for you that I object to. No fun scavenging with so well organised sellers. I think you are a scavenger too and probably don't buy much at these fairs either? As Harris says the chat in the background is worth going for alone even if predictable and banal it's funny.

Still it was interesting to see quite a bit of cash going over the counter and if necessary there is always a deal. Also I went a bit earlier and it was much busier than I thought it would be. the 'chat' is always a laugh ; ) Cheers Martin 👍

I don't buy singles but those are very high priced. What's become of this rekkid market? They're all like fine art prints. Good camera work. Its not the first time women have been made to swoon by my sheer magnetism, admittedly alas never at a record fair. It was actually a young lad with his mum who did seem quite embarrassed at been subjected. I did include the Anime soundtracks as well I hope you noticed. I know, the 4AD stuff seemed like it was priced as fine art!! Prices definitely too high. Yes the songs were no impact so all good. Its not something you think about is it. I think I've mastered the art of the one handed rummage with one eye on the phone to zoom in. Although the further back bins are a pain as it takes its toll on the back
Looks a great fair, though the way certain artists were grouped together via the dividers annoyed me at times 😄

I am ok with Indie/Alt rock and even including Punk or post punk in that but I think I draw the line at ''Depeche/NO/JoyDiv/Prince/Madonna/U2''. You know what you might find but finding them together 🤣
I do get put off when I see gradings such as VG+ ex- , in my mind it's either VG or ex
Very true. You can always find mint stuff come along in the charity shop
maybe I'm just a fussy so and so but some of those sleeve gradings look way over graded for a VG ,not a good sign
yes , condition on some was not being taken into account with the price, people will impulse buy unfortunately
