@@a_grin_without_a_cat I actually haven't ever streamed on Twitch before! I don't know if it would be for me or not. I also don't know why this was in your recommendations! Thank you for leaving a comment
Its the same engine as skyrim. The flight mechanics were what they wanted to release with skyrim for dragons. The bucket trick still works. They just made the field where their vision starts a bigger area, so you just need a bigger bucket. Also they didn't bother to voice reactions to shooting guns in town so they deleted the part of the code that had guards interact with you if you use shouts in city limits. It's a reskin with a few updates and patches being sold as a AAA. This is basically just a mod.
Remember. Game can be terrible and still be a financial success. That is Starfield. Most of the budget went on the marketing and it kinda payed off. Financially, Starfield is profitable. Enjoyment wise. Starfield is horrible. But i don't think this will slide again with TES VI.
TES VI makes me so worried, especially in a world where Fallout 76 is still one of their main focuses in 2024 and where Starfield ended up the way it did. The whole Microsoft acquisition thing makes me feel confused and not ready too. Oh well, I can wish things were different all I want. I'll be playing Skyrim and such for the rest of my life
@@korrina yeah i was kinda hyped when MS bought BGS i though that they will take advantage of that money. After all MS/XBox was never a scrouge and was always more than happy to open up a wallet for a developers...if they presented their vision properly. So once when i saw and tested Starfield at the EXPO i was shocked how BGS did not do anything out of their comfort zone. Like, nothing at all. After that and Emils twiter shenanigans i kinda gave up all hope on TES VI. Skyrim was indeed as Indigo Gaming said..."in their eyes the series is already peaked"
You bring up a good point. Like I said though, I don't play lots of new video games, so a lot of what I said is just opinions and could easily be combated from a lot of angles
It's not a long awaited question. We determined it was bad on week one, but thanks for timely upoload of your opinion, a solid 1.5 years after release. Really great timing, and extremely relevant.
I thought maybe it would have improved by now.....Maybe it did. IDK. I stayed completely blind to it all. I waited till it was on sale too. That's just me! I was busy hehe
The game writing and world are bland and utterly sterile. No decisions have any consequences, you can join any and all factions simultaneously. Travel anywhere is a mere load screen click away, so distance is meaningless. Everything is tedious, procedural content so exploration is boring. Most of the ship mechanics weren’t finished so it’s just an average 5/10 at best. Overall I’d say Starfield is ok at a $10 price to do the main quests as a one off. You’ll get 50-60hrs then should stop and never go back to it, that would be a fair deal.
Great way to look at it, I agree with a lot of what you said. I think there's a bit more to be said in regards of what this game offers in the department of "singleplayer Bethesda magic" which seems to leave us bit by bit every year, but I can absolutely see the driving force behind some kind of 'lipstick on a pig' argument or even one that in 2023/2024, 'Bethesda magic' means nothing. Good point of view either way, thanks for commenting
There are plenty of problems with the game, and definitely legitimate reasons to dislike it. However, just watching this the vast majority of your problems seem like they come down to user error/recklessness/simply not paying attention. If you expect to skate through it with zero thought, never reading prompts or dialogue or attempting to understand the new universe they've dropped you in, yeah, it's not going to be a fun game for you... and many things probably won't make sense. "I'm being punished for exploring!" Really highlights this. You're fighting what is supposed to be one of the most fearsome enemies in the game, a higher level than you, and you're using ballistic weaponry which it's highly resistant to. If you HAD bothered following the directions given to you, exploring the abandoned lab and learned about what a terrormorph is instead of just randomly picking a direction to go jerk off in and expect it to reward you for simply existing... you probably would have had a better experience. I've noticed that a lot of people that think this game is terrible never really bother to engage with what is there with any sincerity, and instead they just get frustrated and disappointed when what they imagined the game SHOULD be isn't what it actually is.
Good comment, thank you. I definitely cut out a lot of parts from what I recorded, that's my only defense I can give you. I was not expecting this many people to see this video, and I think my true attitude towards the game wasn't represented here. My fault, it's unfortunate. My "commentary" definitely didn't help any case either. I bought the game for a reason, that's what I can say!! I played it a bit more than beyond this point and for the most part I have enjoyed the progression and completionist aspects--just in the few hours I've put in. Thank you for leaving a comment again
I'm glad you enjoyed the game! I'm liking certain parts of it too. I definitely have my own preferences and previous gaming experiences though, and I think it's very easy to argue why ANY video game might not be for everyone. I am no person to discredit anyone for enjoying something that I don't--I enjoy a lot of things that are generally unliked and considered too different, especially with video games and other media, so who would I be to stop anyone from enjoying it? That was never my point, haha. Thanks for leaving a comment!
Unfortunately I did play it for more than 2 hours and eventually I will continue to play it. I'm not sure for how long. I somehow feel bad saying that I don't believe the game was worth $40 but oh well
I don't care what others say, but Starfield is one of the best games ever made - especially now that mods are out and you can be fully specced out and not have to worry about playing on the harder difficulties to get the choice rewards. Add to that the thrill of exploration (and once vehicles come out to travel on a planet easier it'll be much better) and the fact that more things will be added over time...gotta give Todd Howard all the credit in the world. That being said, if games like No Mans Sky and Elite Dangerous and other space games weren't available before this one, would Starfield have been as good? Up for debate, but as it is it is fantastic and I for one can't stop playing it (on console)
Respectable opinion!! I'm glad you enjoy it. I like the exploration and the standard Bethesda gameplay style--loot, shoot, pick up stuff I don't need, sell it, buy better stuff, etc. It's very different from Skyrim and Fallout though!
Not to seem like I'm attacking you, but saying that a game is great because modders have made it so, and that there will be future updates to the game are very not good reasons to give this game any credit.
Well Starfield has a lot of problems and many, many things are real sht. I could go on without end about the things wrong with it. And with all that, I somehow love it. Definitely think it is getting much worse than it should.
*horrible game design* "it's okay i'll probably get used to that"
“It just works”
Most used phrase in the entire video. "I'm scared." Okay, we get it.

Awful. So sad. I'll probably have some fun moments with it still but not much else. Hope it doesn't sour skyrim or fallout for me. Cheers

by the standards of 2014, and yet it demands some rather beefy modern hardware.

cut scenes and in-game exposition are the scheme to avoid returns with the 2 hour gameplay limit lol.
