Everything about "5 of a Kind" looks and sounds great. Especially the fast Moog theme I must seek. "Missing Link" might be based on the 1960s US version. No proof, just by title.
Finally, I got to see what 5 of a Kind looks like! I can't wait to see full episodes of these shows. I hope you guys have Celebrity Dominoes with Paul Hanover.
Hi Eric -- What do you know about Five of a Kind? American? Canadian? Network show? This 5 second clip was found at the end of a tape of another game show we digitized so we don't have any masters of Five of a Kind.
@@BonusRoundCanada Five Of A Kind was syndicated in the mid-70s. Not a whole lot to go by, but it’s good to know that it at least aired somewhere and wasn’t just a pilot or something
@@christiancarrion9017 I read the TV listings and it said "11 Five of a Kind" which aired on CHCH Hamilton, Ontario from 1974-76. From the looks, two contestants each have their slot machine. The object is one makes a better hand than the other and score points to win prizes. I wonder what Jack Barry's reaction was if he watched this visiting Canada.
@@BonusRoundCanada Five of a Kind was a Canadian show produced at CHCH. Too bad more CTV shows of that time don't exist - like He Knows She Knows; Anything You Can Do, Headline Hunters, Celebrity Dominoes or early Definition. Would love to see those.
@@ericsamuelson5656 There was a Japanese Show in 1980 that had a very similar set piece and game. I'm wondering now if that show borrowed the format from Five of a Kind. I'd never heard of it before seeing this. Great Find!
I think there was another rare Canadian game show hosted by Mike Darow called Going Places where couples would earn "travel miles" to win a dream vacation.
Going Places ran for years. It was syndicated from about 72-75, then came back on Global around 1978 for another year or two. I'd love to see a full episode!
If it's the same show, IMDB says Double Exposure aired in 1961 and it involved contestants removing pieces of jigsaw puzzles and trying to identify a famous person in the picture behind it and hosted by actor Stephen Dunne.
Also... I can almost guarantee those aren't *all* US game shows/pilots; Mike Darrow never hosted any shows outside Canada (to the best of my knowledge)
He also hosted the first season of the $128,000 Question which was taped in New York. When production moved to Toronto for season 2 Alex Trebek took over.

Television's favorite celebrity game show?
Hollywood Squares, Match Game, I've got a Secret, and to Tell the Truth all beg to differ... LOL
So do pyramid and password (all versions of those two)
I love the look of Five of a Kind!

Whiz Kids, hosted by Al DuBois in 1990-91.
I'm guessing pilots or locally-produced?

Dar(r)ow hosted several US game shows, including Dream House (1968-70) and a few unsold pilots.
