In Houston, TX we had this on what's now KIAH - CW 39. Syndicated by Rhodes TV Group, an MGM company, and Fremantle.
Just a premiere episode
Odd that Jim says the car at the end of the tournament was "the biggest prize ever given away in Canadian game show history." In the US, Barker's TPIR (among others) was giving away cars every day and even Cullen's TPIR in black and white gave away much larger prizes like airplanes. On a side note, do you know what episode this is? I'd like to watch the following episodes with my subscription to see the rest of the tournament.
Episode 9-121. The tournament episodes all start around episode 120 of a 130 episode season. But we've found that not all the tournament episodes were saved in the archives.
@@BonusRoundCanada Thank you so much!
The one game show Alex did not get paid for.
The problem they had with the bonus round: it took them too long to figure out the time aspect, too easy at 50 seconds, too hard at 40, 45 was good.
Guess they "wiped" most of the series.
Whose voice is the opening annoucer?
How do you do it? How do you keep getting these shows? Amazing.
Question asked on Test Pattern - What car rental company's slogan is 'We Try Harder'? Contestant guesses 'Tilden'. The correct answer was Avis.
3:21 - The slide is backwards!!! drawoH s'nosnhoJ
What a treat to see this again. Thank you.
Is Headline Hunters coming to the website?
That would be awesome if it is. I didn't think all that many episodes still exist on tape.
I have bunch of clips and shows on my page, in the Dinah Christie Playlist, but a new FULL episode is such a treat! They were all just so good.!
The lady from BC sounds like she's from Scotland or Ireland.
WUAB Cleveland (now sister station to the current home of LMAD, WOIO) aired this as part of a morning block which also had Hollywood Squares and $50K Pyramid.
Aired on WOR-TV NYC at 1pm.
I Wish That The Canadian Version Of Let’s Make A Deal On Buzzr TV In The Future
This show has a feel of a Goodson-Todman show.
They sure liked "DALLAS" questions on this show.
Can you re-up this in the original 4x3 ratio? (So people don't appear over weight?)
A takeoff of Pantomime Quiz.
There's 22 mins of my life I'll never get back. Guess we're just plum out of time . . .
This version had the best theme music!
Gizmo came outta nowhere! I thought it was June bug
I love this game!
Of alex trebek's 10 game shows i like Double dare for its announcer johnny olsen High rollers for its premise Pitfall for its bonus round Battlestars for the people that appeared on the show including bowser betty white and rip taylor Jeopardy for its 1st theme song 🎵 from 1984-1996 Classic concentration for its rebus puzzles and bonus round To tell the truth for the 1 on 1 format from the 1991 version
Paid a scandalous amount for my copy on eBay, worth every penny. I cherish this game.
I hope a new edition of the Definition home game can be created and sold in Wal-Mart stores.
Spotted one at a flea market in Calgary
I had the home game. I might've had two if they were still giving them out when they used my definition on the show.
Fun Fact: The background music for Door #2 is from the obscure 1977 game show "It's Anybody's Guess"...hosted by Monty Hall, and announced by Jay Stewart.
It was announced yesterday that this show may get a reboot.
18:33 - 18:38 That is the very first time I've ever seen that being done. No letters on the board and yet she got it for the maximum amount of dollars.
14:55 - 15:03 You told him to say it slow, he's doing it!
How could they not know the hot sauce was .89? I think Monte was disappointed with them and ended that deal quickly.
THE LOWSY M F ER WILL BREAK DOWN BEFORE SHE TURNS THE KEY
i hope BUZZR will get those episodes so I can see more of that model Julie. She is so pretty.
I can't believe this was 50+ years ago …
Jim Scotland pressed his cluck and ended up with egg on his face #yolksonhim
Despite the 'lower' big deal payouts there was giving away some quality prizes in this version
I heard something that Monty Hall had to step in to make sure that contestants got their respective prizes from this version. This version was a collaboration Hatos-Hall did with Catalena Productions, the same company that later stiffed Alex Trebek for his work on "Pitfall".
You know, if I took this entire 1980-81 run of Let's Make A Deal and animated it into the "South Park" style with (or without) the help of Parker and Stone, while retaining the original audio of all of the episodes, you will be seeing each episode jam-packed with flapping trash can heads and beady eyes! Sorry for being racist....
Buzzr needs to start airing this 1980-81 version of Let's Make A Deal alongside the 1984-86 ANLMAD!
I totally agree with you, man!
Don't forget the '90s lmad.
@@stevensuarez4843 They'll get to that, eventually.
Have their full run?
Yes... we stream both seasons (including these guys' run) at www.bonusround.ca and our iOS app
These are interesting to see. Apparently you couldn’t show real money on Canadian television or maybe they didn’t want to show Canadian money. I do miss Jay Stewart though. He and Monty were a great team but I know he was announcing for Barry and Enright shows in 1981. Thanks for sharing this as I don’t remember seeing them when they aired (if they did in the Louisville Kentucky area).
Monty did explain the LMAD money on at least one occasion. Since the show had both Canadian and American contestants, that money was used only on air and the contestant(s) would be paid in the currency of their home country.
I wonder what station in Indianapolis, IN aired the 1980-1981 LMAD
WTTV - CBS Channel 4.
@@paulnguyen8910 Which still airs the Wayne Brady version to this very day, since January 2015.
13:23 and 17:58: If you live in the Vancouver area and ever thought about becoming a contestant on Talk About or becoming a member of the studio audience… YOU’RE 34 YEARS TOO LATE!!!!!
Ha. We left the audience / contestant plugs in the episodes we stream.
I wonder if WANX has saved any of the episodes of Let's Make A Deal from 1980 and 1981.
I remember watching Let's Make A Deal on a station which is now FOX Rochester (channel 31 WUHF-TV).
They would sometimes coax minor American celebrities to make appearances on this show....fuck knows how but they did it. Free set of bath towels? A new Brother electric typewriter maybe?
That was a tricky non-bonus definition - didn't get it until the last letter called
