Great video. I absolutely love the idea of a Walt & Vincent reunion. I love the "I saved you a bullet" ending with Kate being the hero, but it would have been exceptionally cool if they wrote it as Walt throwing a knife at the MIB, essentially making the real Locke the hero for teaching Walt the very thing that killed Fake Locke.
Walt's premonitions/connection to the future could have been an explanation for him returning to the island older. What if when Hurley brought him to the island in 2010, he flashed through time similar to when Jack, Hurley, Sayiid and Kate turn up in the 70s, but instead it's 2007. His lack of insight into what happened to his friends from the plane could drive him to do his absolute best to try to save people, only to realize whatever happened, happened. I also love the idea of his powers becoming an important piece of the story.
Absolutely brilliant idea! This would have totally changed the dynamic of season 6. Now an interesting questions is, would they then do a flash sideways to include Michael somehow? Obviously 6'2" Walt couldn't play himself as a 10 year old again. But maybe Michael could get some sort of redemption arc in the flash sideways while Walt does all his stuff on the Island. Love your videos!
One of my biggest criticisms with Lost is how quickly they cycled through many characters without giving them much of a backstory or purpose, especially in the latter half of the show. Walt is definitely an example, and Libby. Why introduce an archaeologist character, Charlotte, and then write her off before she can even see any of the island's ruins and artifacts? I saw a theory that Matthew Abaddon may have originally been intended to be Jacob, but instead he is just another dead character with no story. Ilana's role is to have a personal relationship with Jacob and be greatly affected by his loss, but we already have Richard for that! Imagine if Ben was pouring his heart out to Richard at the end of Dr Linus, how much more that would mean with their shared history. And then Ilana dies without any clear backstory. Dogen, Lennon... How can any of these mystery characters be more interesting than the ones whose lives we've seen so much of?
Very nice idea, I would have liked that a lot. A while back I was also thinking about a "what if" for this chunk of the show, and I think I would have swapped Jin and Sayid's season 6 plots. Sayid getting roped in with Widmore's team would have made better use of his technical skills, as well as his experience surveying the island. And Sayid being the one to object to Widmore's treatment of Desmond, and being the one to greet him and help him up after his glimpse of the flash-sideways, would have been a great callback to The Constant and their friendship. Meanwhile giving Jin the "sickness" plot would have tied into his encounter with Danielle in the 80s in season 5, Jin growing cold and distant and violent would play like a relapse into his Season One self, and then we'd have a nice moment where his reunion with Sun brings him back to his warm, caring self. Might need to shuffle some other things around to fit, but as it was Jin felt very out of place and underused during this Widmore arc.
Bra jobbat. I would have liked more the idea of Abbadon coming to the island rather than Walt. Sad that he got killed by Ben.. One thing i thought about, are we even sure that Zoe, Seamus and the crew came by outrigger and not the submarine when they took Jin? Don't know if this is an important point to the whole story but i think they would have needed at least two outriggers to fit that many people? Any theory about how long it would take to go from the main island to Hydra island by outrigger?
Tack så mycket! I think it's just easier to use the outrigger since with the sub they need to find a dock on the main land to avoid it slamming against the reef. Let's say they discover Jin is on the other side of the Island. Would they take him and then drag him for hours to get to the sub dock before taking the submarine to the Hydra Island. Another solution is that the sub stays dormant outside the beach and they re-emerge from the water, take a dingy to the beach, then take Jin back, then submerge and then continue the voyage. I've simply found it easier to use the outriggers. But both theories are valid.
@@Choekaas Maybe you are right. Better option. Just a bit confused how many outriggers they had access to. Maybe they had more than that we see in season 5 at Hydra. Probably they had them in some storage room or something. Looking forward for your theories about just Widmores teams journeys in episodes in The Last recruit, The Candidate, and What they died for. I'm still confused about some of the stuff in these episodes thinking about the timeline. Widmore and Zoes journey to the barracks has always kind of got me to wonder what their plan really was to do there? Or was it just a fleeing in panic? I hope you will adress your theory about what the equipment was that they had in the outrigger. And secondly a thing i am wondering how MIB was able to move the boat from Hydra island to the cliffs in such short time and then come by outrigger to the Barracks? This does not really make sense to me.
@@Jultomten630 It's funny you mention this, because there's a whole section about it in an upcoming finished video! (In "The Candidate" video I devout some time to try to organize the outrigger travels)
I always thought Lost was a very anti-racist show. It had a very multi-cultural and international cast (MUCH more than most American TV shows). And as you say in your video - the black characters were written with depth and intelligence and avoided the usual stereotypes.
I agree. I hope I didn't give the wrong impression in the video. I would've replaced Zoe with Walt, because compared to her he was such an interesting character. Hence all of my examples (him meeting MIB-Locke, the scenes with Jin in room 23, the scenes with Sawyer, reunion with Vincent). I felt like I couldn't mention the elephant in the room, which was the book that came out about racism and that came back into the limelight again with the release of the documentary, when writing the script for this video. Hence why I started this video with that chapter. Replacing Zoe with Walt is due to his character first and foremost. Him being African-American is secondary to that, but a bonus point nonetheless for inclusivity.
Let's be real - the final season would have been way better with 0 new characters instead of the incessant onslaught of redshirts. That's why the only episode I liked this season was Across the Sea.
I always felt Michael's choice to kill Ana Lucia and Libby was completely out of character. It was clearly done only for shock value and no consideration to the integrity of the character was given. And Walt could have easily been brought back for seasons 5 and/or 6.
They had already planned to get rid of Ana but she wasn't well liked so they added Libby to make the audience care more. They made Mike do it so they could get him and Walt off the island before Walt grew too fast lol So I understand the reasoning. I did buy Ben manipulating Michael into it, and Libby was more of an accident. But yeah the character assassination of Michael was a bummer, especially since his redemption arc later wasn't that satisfying. It would be interesting to get an alternate take on how they could have handled things.
It was a serialized show. It's pretty normal for that format to include some random shock kills, and the Lost writers promised a death for pretty much that whole season.
Do you believe that she was made to look like Tina Fey and hated on purpose?to kinda come back at her by the writers because she was always making fun and punching at the writers of lost like on her series 30 Rock… I thought about that the other day what do you think?

Oooh, Walt throwing the knife would be very cool, yes!
I will watch this video once I find the time, but the premise from the video title is genius imo
It would have worked so so well

I'm also mad Hurley never gave Walt the money he owed him for their game. That would have been a great payoff!
I love this idea. It makes so much sense and a would be a better narrative
Given this damn Island moved through time, Walt coming back older seems irrelevant.
I was waiting for this. Brilliant!

It's definitely a tell that the writers were flailing in terms of long-term direction.
Walt coming out of the bushes would have been fucking epic
You highlighted so many opportunities and payoffs that could've happened if Walt returned. Wish this was the reality!

Very fascinating idea swapping those characters! Never thought of it.
I hated how they handled Micheal’s character and how they wrote off the Walt.

If it comes down to well written characters and good acting, that should be why they are included and expanded - not by race.

Hmm, I don't think so. I think it honestly was coincidental. It's a fun theory!
