"Monsters" season 2 was good and bad. WHY GOOD?: 1. An excellent casting with Nicho Chavez, Cooper Koch, Javier Bardem and Chloë Sevigny. I think they were excellent with what was given to them. 2. Good soundtrack, especially with the Milli Vanilli references "I'm gonna miss you" and "Blame it On the Rain". It brings us back to the 80s, so nothing to say on this. And we can make some links between the songs and the Menendez's story. 3. The objective POV, 'cause even if it was really bad done, I felt that Murphy tried very hard to be objective and make a balance between the brothers and other people's POV: Lyle and Erik say they killed their parents 'cause after so many years of emotional and sexual abuses, they were scared to die and they thought their parents will kill them. And there's other people who believe them or not. Depending on the side they are, we see and live what they think and believe about the crime. And in the end, we're still conflicted, with the most important question about this case, why this case has captivated America so much: why did they killed their parents? Is it really by fear or money? It's up to you to decide what you want to believe, what is the truth for you. Why not? It's a really good idea👍we present the facts as they were told and we let you debate on this. WHY BAD?: 1. The brothers' characters, 'cause even if I said earlier that Chavez and Koch did an excellent job as Lyle and Erik, their characters were quite over-the-top. I mean...why is Lyle so arrogant and almost portrayed as a coldblooded, selfish sociopath who absolutely have no remorse and is like the leader of all the thing? Why is Erik portrayed as a confused gay? Were there any true fact saying Erik was gay? 'Cause according to my knoweldge about the case, we never mentioned anywhere about Erik's homosexuality. Wtf? Why is there an INCESTUOUS relationship between Lyle and Erik? I was like "Wtf....since when?" Again...is there any true fact mentioning this? NO. So OUT. 2. The Trial, 'cause it was my most anticipated scene. Like it's the most important part of the case, man! It's when the things are getting interesting! And....NOTHING! NOTHING HAPPENED! It was almost ridiculous: the testimonies, the abuses, the photos of Lyle and Erik's bodies as kids, the war between the defense and the accusation, the conflict between the jury members....they were barely mentioned, or bad treated....even the brothers' testimonies about the abuses are ridiculous, almost portrayed as LIES! (Wtf) I was so disappointed how the trial was so poorly done. 3. The brothers' psychology, because I think it's an important aspect to explore: Erik's depression and his suicidal thoughts, Lyle's angry issues, the family's lifestyle, the conversations with Dr. Oziel....it was bad treated or barely shown. So bad Murphy didn't went deeper into the brothers' minds so we can try to understand them, maybe know the truth. But again....OUT. 4. The glamourization, the sexualization: what is wrong with Murphy to make his murderers look sensual or almost cool? Well okay, there's nothing really bad about this but....I'd say it's more for entertainment. And we don't need the actors to show their bodies, watching their asses (Erik scene doing exercises with a man at the house, 2nd episode) or something like that....okay? We don't want things that please the eyes, we want TRUE FACTS. So again: OUT. In conclusion, "Monsters" season 2 was good thanks to its amazing cast, the good music and the clumsy attempt to be objective as much as possible. But too bad....fake facts, the characters exaggerated, their glamourization and sexualization, the poor production of the scenario were disappointing.
3.1. Because he is a ridiculously severe narcissist and sociopath. I myself thought the spending spree portion was over the top, but then I think the portrayal got more realistic. I think he was definitely more sociopathic than Erik, who at least clearly has somewhat of a conscious. A concept of one, let’s say.
It’s not a documentary instead it is a drama. Apparently the director has an opinion on the case and plants his own thoughts and imagination in the story. At the end of the show, a lot of closed colleagues and workers testified the parents don’t show any violence on the brothers, on the other hand, nobody noticed anything that the boys wanted to kill the parents either. So the abuse happens inside the family is not easy to noticed from outsiders.
The Bible has in it that "children live what they learn" 💯💯💯🙏. The fact that Lyle repeated with Erik what Jose did to him makes those words💯💯💯. Can't say if it happened to jose ir not, but his family sent him here from Cuba to keep him safe and that too is in the bible and was done to baby Moses. There you have it👍. 😊
Tammi was in her forties and Erik was in his 20’s when she targeted him. There is a huge age gap. I think Erik married his mother because Tammi looks like Kitty and Tammi was married to a pedophiler named Chuck Saccoman who was sleeping with Tammi’s older daughter and she said she suspected it but did not say anything just like Kitty who was married to a pedo named Jose and she knew Jose was sleeping with their older son. See the similarities
We need empathy not sexualisation- yeah right. look on social media and what's popular there. hot chicks, and shirtless gym guys millions lusting over. the series would never have got the attention of the brothers like it does now with an accurate empathetic story. Ryan Murphy is for a reason the most successful tv producer of our time, cause he knows what common people root for- shock sensation, controversy and hot actors everybody can lust for. Why does he go for the "gay crimes" when there are so many others he could choose? Thats what he always does- making shows with lots of homoerotic elements. He did explain it with " thats how some thought of them" but maybe only he thought of them that way. It sells better for sure and spices up the drama. It happens a lot with "based on true events" movies and series- that they add some fiction for the better entertainment. In the end its up to you what you wanna go for- the fiction or reality. For that Netflix offers you the Docu that comes out later. And to be fair, despite all the bashing Murphy gets- thanks to him this case will probably reopened with all the pressure in the media now- without his show that would not have happened at all.
A statement that is true for the first half of the series. On many ocassions they showed only the actors talking abour sexual abuse while they used flashbacks that could be interpreted as sexual or verbal abuse. The second half of the series though swings it firmly towards the brothers making it up. That objectivity is diluted quite a bit. This is also because the last episode was based on a court case where sexual abuse could not be used as a defense
Not, exactly. Lyle telling Norma he fake cried and lied about everything makes the viewer not form their opinion because they start to think everything is just made up and they're psychos. That part was completely fictional because he did not tell her he fake cried or anything. A bunch of stuff is just drama to twist the story and create controversy. I liked the show a lot, but after I watched it I fact checked a lot of it and a lot of important parts were changed for drama purposes.
I think he ought to be happy with the actor they chose. Smoking!! And he did a really good job of acting Erik came off so much more sympathetic than Lyle.
They made Lyle into a hothead psycho. Having seen the actual trial he seems just as calm and collected as Erik. They just changed his character for dramatic purposes. And it worked for a great show, but not to depict an actual factual story
It was so unfair not taking into the consideration the effects of the sexual abuse... it was clear that this was the main factor that got them into killing their parents.. yes this can happen that children can kill parents just for materialistic gains but come on... they wouldn't be able to have even one tear on the trial.. these guys are so emotional and no you can't fake the real pain...we had million examples when people tried but it was always something off about them.. these guys are true victims
@@kmartgoth8313 well maybe as someone was right on when they called Tom Gaye’s opinion that perhaps the straight IS right. Man if it’s gay be Gay!!! Because it happened? Incest happens more often than you think. Abuse also happens a lot more often than you think. You don't have to watch it if you get uncomfortable with it.
It's evident that creator Ryan Murphy is only interested in sensationalizing stories like this. This series is disturbing in so many ways, and many scenes are simply exploitation without substance.
