Whether anyone likes it or not, Kollington Ayinla is the highest authority in Fuji Music today. May God bless him for his immense contribution to music in general.
In as much as Kollington's songs weren't so deep in meaning, they were usually supported with danceable percussions, which attracted a lot of fans to his style of fuji music. However, when you talk of saje, asakasa, and the rest, Barrister starts it with the Efe series. Kollington was reluctant to sing with the slang in vogue, which had already been established in Barrister's style, who would always sing with any popular slang in Lagos and Lagos island in particular. Remember, 'won yosi' of mid-70s.
If not for General Kollington Ayinla Fuji music would have been dull and boring. The foundation of Fuji that was laid by Barrister was slow, heavy on philosophical lyrics and folklore like Sakara. As a matter of fact, all Barrister's early records were pure Sakara. It was Kollington that brought danceable fast tempo into Fuji. Kollington made Barrister to evolve into a better version of Fuji music. God bless these legends!🙏🙏🙏
You are 100percent correct, for those that are not know let them go back to old records for both of them, and see until baba Alatika started introduced,Bata, jazz, piano and bembe, the whole thing change completely,, Killington has never one day claim the fujl creator, but he modernize Fuji with musical instruments, compared with slow beating, sakara style before
Get a copy of Barrister's family planning record released in 1980 and you know that was the first Fuji album where jazz drum set was infused.@@ISSAHOLOJEDE-pc7pq
The video title is 100% correct. Most Fuji artists today are singing Killington style, perhaps unknown to them. His Alatika style evolves into Saje,Asa,Asakasa,Tungba,Lamba, etc. He branched into entertainment, less philosophical, and deep Yoruba lyrics songs. Younger Fuji artists found that it is easier to sing, hence the reason we have the likes of your favorites today. How many of your favorites can sing deep, meaningful songs like Barrister? Please give Gen.Killington Ayinla as much respect as you will accord Sikiru Ayinde Barrister.- SAB
You are 💯 right! Of course, these guys do not want to know because they are biased and accepted WRONGLY that ONLY Barrister is the Alfa and omega of Fuji music. Both Barrister and GKA made , popularize, and enhanced Fuji by introducing different genres and instruments to Fuji music. As a matter of fact, KWAM 1’s music was slow like Barrister when he started singing, but he later changed to the Kollington Ayinla’s style of music which is very fast rhythmic in nature unlike the iginle Yoruba and Kewu iro
Mr Bata, l respect your opinion, but what you have just said about your boss as the pioneerof fuji music, i did not agree with you. However, l am not going to blame you because of your love for alhaji kollington Ayinla. Stay bless. You're good at the way you play your instrument.
Why wouldn’t you believe what he said based on his age, presence during the rivalry btw GKA and Barrister? You were probably too young to understand music in the late 70 & 80’s. Now get this into your head, GKA & Barrister started and enhanced Fuji music including introduction of assorted genres and instruments. Learn to understand and appreciate history shared by our elders! May Allah bless you.

E dake, please. If not GKA, fuji is just like sakara music. Give him the accolades he deserves. Go and listen to SAB himself that sings Sikiru Ayinde, Kollington Ayinla awa la gbe fuji soke...
For me Kollinghton fuji music is not real balance fuji music compare to Mr. Fuji music. That is reason you hear Barrister fuji music everywhere, even after his death.
Hatred has clouded your mind. What if others also say the other Fuji that is balanceed in your own sight only reminds them of when awọn oníbárà (panbiyanlas) are singing to beg for alms? Please avoid any negative comments about others so that you don't attract unnecessary negative reactions towards the much respected Alhaji Sikiru. As he is your hero, Kollington is the hero of uncountable others and numerous others like both of them equally.
@@bao1109 thank you. One of them even said that Kollington doesn't use Arabic language and praise Mohammed in most of his songs. I don't where this people crawl out from.
Just because he did not share your idea of what Fuji is all about? He was there and as such knows more than you uneducated fans who are oblivious of what was going on. Please, learn to be open minded, so you can appreciate other people’s ideas and story instead of disrespecting this guy who is way older than you and perhaps your parents. Weather you like it or not, Barrister and GKA made and enhanced Fuji music together irrespective of what idea you have in your head. Ibowo fun agba se pataki.
