Yeah so I definitely just saw this last night when I noticed my name wasn't on the list of donations. Fortunately it wasn't hard to find. I really appreciate you guys bastarding me. I got to admit it's a great feeling. I actually got that bottle at their distillery in Baltimore after taking the tour. It's an awesome place and I'm about 99% sure it's all aged there. Maryland's climate goes through extremes throughout the year. I'm glad you liked it. I'm still waiting for them to produce more of their peated singlemalt. They also have some whiskey sitting in two solera casks. Got my eye on those too.
New to whiskey and living in Baltimore, you guys just uncovered said diamond in the rough for me with the Old Line. Looking forward to trying it out. Thanks to that MB Bernard Mulligan for the donation and you guys for the review.
Although the chances of getting one of the donation day bottles being almost zero I love these videos. Give me a chance to hear about whiskeys which are completely new and often very different for my normal pours 👍
Awesome tip on an early idea for a Fathers Day gift with the Old Line American Single Malt. Just received my ordered bottle and can’t wait to hear what the husband thinks of it! 👍Thanks for the heads up on this distillery guys!
I love donation day, because if I happen to be traveling and see one of these whiskeys, and you gave it a good review, I will make sure to pick it up. Keep em up!
The stone fence is a delicious bourbon cocktail I make mine with 2oz of eagle rare or bulliet and a hard cider ( I use Smith and forge) my pops uses angry orchard.
I'm not a huge fan of OMFW, but being from Baton Rouge, where Cane Land Distillery is located. I'm a fan of whay they are doing there. They worked with a local brewery to create a whiskey that they are currently aging. The rum they distill is made from sugar they grow on their farms. Really cool people over there doing interesting things
Dear Rex and Daniel my friend recently gave up beer as part of his New Year's resolution and decided that he still wanted to drink, so he turned to whisky. Knowing that I was a bartender he looked to me for some aid and recommendations, which I was happy to give. After he enjoyed those and Whisky In general he decided that we were going to do a whisky tasting night as a friend group. About a dozen people showed up most of them bearing whisky. Everyone sat down with me at the helm, pouring, teaching, and answering questions as I tried to guide them through this night of whiskey tasting. Some people had had whisky before and had some idea of their likes and dislikes going into it but many did not. Most were used to cocktails or beer not drinking Spirits neat. So I took all of the whiskey that everybody brought and I grouped most of it up into categories going in order of increasing difficulty. I had people try whiskeys of similar classifications or flavors. We had an Irish, bourbon, rye, and 2 scotch groups. Scotch had 2 so I could have 1 group being your more friendly fruity spaysides and the Highlands and one being intense peat and smoke. We started out with Irish and worked our way up and difficulty throughout the night, some people wanted to stay in the more friendly neighborhoods of the bourbons and Irish while some people jumped headfirst into the scotch and rye. But regardless everybody had a good time no one got too drunk. Everybody learned a bit about their taste and preference in whiskey. We have agreed to do it again at a later date, and for the next one now that they have established preferences I'm looking to challenge that by introducing blind tastings.
Found you guys around Thanksgiving and just finished binging all the Vault and Whiskey Tribe videos. Fantastic! Question. Since you're so close to Jester King would you concider doing something with them? I come from beer and as you know, they are World Class. Seeing you two work together would be amazing
Donations days is my favorite day. Really love seeing the smaller operations the country has to offer. I’m gearing up to send in a VT care package that showcases that there’s more to the state than Whistlepig. I hate whistlepig. I’ve been pretty vocal about it. Sorry. If you go to Vermont don’t be basic and get whistle pig. better options to be had.
I went to the Old Line distillery last weekend for a tour and tasting, its helped me expand my preferences from only bourbon to American single malt whiskey but you should look out for the other bottles, Single Malt double oak finished Rum Casks.
Hey Rex, just a small observation I accidentally stumbled upon, for Daniel's stash. If intrigued, please review Ep.169 Longmorn 16 review at 5:40. ... Happy hunting.
Im a stoner, I dont even drink, but man I love you guys and your channel. Im thinking of getting into whiskey because of you lol. What would be your best start with this one bourban and scotch? I have only ever had JD and Crown and I hate Crown.
You magnificent bastard.! You rode your motorcycle, in Iowa today it might be like 4 degrees out. -4 for overnight low. I am suffering from p m s, parked motorcycle syndrome!
Hey Daniel, have you ever heard of Tangle Ridge Canadian Whisky? Its a 10 yr age statement Alberta Rye blended with a touch of sherry and finished in ex bourbon barrels. It's a beam suntory product, and its 20 bucks.
I've been binge watching all the episodes and I meant to pay attention to Rex's hair after he got shaved to see the progression of growth but forgot, just one day it was long as hell again
You guys did clyde may's alabama style whiskey. Which is aged on baked apples. Which flavors it.... So yeah. You guys have done flavored whiskey before.
Yeah, I think Rex should grow this hair out, and follow in the steps of movie The Big Lebowski and become 'The Dude'. The Old line Single Malt Whiskey must be incredible, only if it was obtainable. Cheers gentlemen on a great Donation Day!
They put an ounce of something 1 year old in each barrel just for the age statement. It's not a number one, it's an extended middle finger to everyone who's hung up on age statements. :)
Middle West Spirits has some really good whiskey. I will be visiting the whiskey vault next month. I live in Columbus and can bring a bottle to donate. Any wishes?
The mooch has been giving more on the point and meaningful tasting notes than the somm for quite a while now. Rex is showing that a mooch can also be an expert taster. The two aren’t mutually exclusive.
According to US census statistics the top five family names in the States are 1 SMITH 2 JOHNSON 3 WILLIAMS 4 JONES 5 BROWN Who knew that Rex was so common.
Hi guys, I’m quite new to whisky, and was wondering whether a cork or screw cap alter the taste of the whisky at all, or is it just that screw caps are used for cheaper whiskys? Thanks!
As a straight rum drinker, what kinds of whiskey would you serve me to convert me to whiskey? Had Jaemison was good very easy to drink, wanted to try Laphroaig but a few of your bastards told me to pump the brakes lol. So I got Glenfiddich 12 and it was gross lol so a had a glass or two every night now the bottle is near gone and its just ok at best to me, any suggestions what to try next. Cheers
Balvenie 14yr Caribbean cask (rum cask) to compare to rum. Since rum is sweeter, I'd go with glendronach 12 if you like sweet rums, Nikka from the barrel of you like more floral/spicy rums. If you're also looking for bourbon: Buffalo trace for a balanced sweeter whisky, four roses single barrel for more spicy. All these bottles are around 25-35 euro in the Netherlands, can't say if you're from the US. I imagine that the bourbons would be cheaper and the glendronach/Nikka more expensive since they're from Scotland and Japan respectively.
try monkey shoulder. or angel's envy, not the angel's envy rye. angel's envy regular should be like $50ish usd the angel's envy rye is like $90+. just letting you know just in case you brought the wrong angel's envy
Have you guys ever used coffee beans to reset between nosing whiskies? I was selecting a new cologne and the store had a small bowl of coffee beans so that you could distinguish between each cologne.
Not fancy review the 2 gold medal whisky from Aldi supermarket, seems interesting these cheap whiskeys are winning awards "Highland Black Scotch Whisky and Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky"
What is a good online store to purchase spirits from? I’m in California and I can’t find a lot of whiskey that you guys talk about. Anyone have any thoughts on how to find and purchase whisky?
HI guys, i just started drinking whisky, my first bottle was JW double black and i love it, can you recommend something similar, to that? budget not a problem. Thanks
Y’all already did the Highland Park Magnus would you upright walking primates please review the Highland Park Valkyrie And Highland Park 12 Year Old Viking Honour And Highland Park 18 Year Old Viking Pride.
Has anyone taken aged whiskey and either re-distilled it alone or mixed it in with a new wash? Would the age and/or barrel notes survive the process? How would it impact the finished product?
When you guys finish your first 12yo, Rex should finally cut his hair and you can use those locks of hair to tie a fiddly bit to each and every bottle. Or perhaps weave small bags for Clown Loyal.
@@WhiskeyVault Badass man, good taste! Unfortunately that came out about a year and a half into paying for my 2013 vn900 classic ( I know I know it's a metric). I would like to get a Indian Chief Dark Horse one day but I have to many toys and another rugrat on the way lol
Why won't the page that says what whisky to send won't work, I don't think they have my favorite whisky, Wisers special blend Wisers is Canada's oldest distillery

Just discovered one of my wife’s friends lives a mile from Old Line Distillery... and by “wife’s friend” I actually mean “my new best friend.” Lol
I love that I can learn stuff from your videos and not only have fun but somehow manage to retain the information
Old Line is in Baltimore. We are in the same Climate Zone (7b) as Wichita Falls and most of North West Texas
Nee rule. Rex never cuts his hair except at tribe gatherings for a full shave.

The great part about that Old Line donation, is if it wasn’t good, you could do it over.
Woah I've actually had the old line it's pretty tasty I like their Gin too

As Ralfy says, alcohol=flavour. Soon you'll only want whisky from the valinch. Everyone gets there eventually.

Have you tried Sadlers Peaky Blinders Irish Whiskey
