I love the byplay that 15 is canonically older, but also younger since he is technically a new generation and it's like a new Timelord has joined the prey and the old one is still around to kick back and rest.

Am I the only one who wishes that she’d been in this episode instead of Mel. For one thing, Martha was the only companion who was on Earth the last time we saw them (and played by an actor who is neither dead nor blacklisted by The BBC) who was absent the DW companions anonymous meeting, for another, it would have been somewhat more fitting for David Tennant to reunite with a companion who he actually appeared alongside, and for a third, Mel is going to be in Series 14 (I’m still calling it that), so it would have made more sense to bring back a different chatacter in this episode.

The "new one" isn't new, its older. Time travel gets wibbly wobbly! So 14 keeps his tardis, he grows old, dies (probably becomes a few of his other faces too) and finally gets snapped back to the bigeneration now as the 15th Doctor. Well what happens to that tardis that 14 has parked by the time of his death? Sits there forever? No. His wish, now as the 15th was to pull HIS Tardis from where it was parked. Splitting the tardis's time stream. Pulling the future version from the older version. The Doctor keeps the Tardis they've traveled with and love. Nobody gets a copy, a clone or a new one. Or at least, thats how I like to think of it. Also explains the Random jukebox. 14 added it during his incarnations life.
Who's to say the original wasn't the one that was knocked away leaving the copy in it's place? Or perhaps it can be thought of like cell division and they are both the original and copy simultaneously? Or maybe even it remains the exact same Tardis only from another point in time. . The Tardis exists across all places and points in time so it'd be possible that they wouldn't even think about it in terms of original vs copy.
i love how fifteen basically treats fourteen like a companion of sorts. from the hug and the kiss on the forehead and reassurance, to telling him "go on" when stepping into the tardis. all the doctor needed to do to heal was to learn not to be so hard on himself, and just love himself.
RTD gave him a perfect set up to be liked too. 14th getting his happy ending thanks to 15th is a smart move. They can do a soft reboot of he show with a more light hearted tone, AND Ncuti won't get the hate Matt Smith initially got for being the "replacement" of David Tennant.
I really don't know how you got all of that from the short time he was on screen lol. I haven't made up my mind yet but my first impression is that he's a bit bog standard, nothing unique or interesting just yet. I really genuinely hope that he is a good actor, and wasn't just chosen for being black and queer, but the last few series of the show (plus those cringe pronoun moments in the first special) make me really worried.
I like how there are now two TARDISes (TARDI?), and Tennant immediately goes "this one has a jukebox, that's his, mine is the other one". Gotta say though, it would've been REALLY awkward if the whole mallet thing hadn't worked.
I love how this doctor is already shown to be extremely empathetic to his previous self and other characters, as well as having the gravitas to command around David tenant's doctor. This new doctor seems to take in the peter capaldi's doctors "where I fall" monologue to heart.
Sorry to kill it, but as far as I know (and correct me if I’m wrong pls) he hadn’t watched the show prior to being contacted by RTD for the role. I’ve heard him saying that he locked himself in his flat for a couple of weeks and binge-watched the entire series and then fell in love with the show.
David saw previous doctors too and He got to work with Tom Baker, Married the Daughter of the 6th Doctor and then His Son wants to be a Doctor some day too. Its crazy
I've just realised, 10 once told Wilf something like "I die and some new man saunters away, but he's not me", but it takes four regenerations before he realises that not only does he actually live to literally see it happen, it actually turns out to be something that makes him incredibly happy. And I love that :)
I think it's funny how this is something that people who aren't fans of 10 have always criticized. That his view on regeneration kinda sours the longevity of the show by retroactively making each one a death that they didn't want. And some people were hoping 14's ending would "fix" that by having him accept change and move on. And Russel just didn't do that, he doubled down in a roundabout way that I find funny and insanely bold (in a good way). 10/14's "good ending" isn't accepting death like some people hoped it would be, but actually getting to live his life to the fullest while passing the torch to his literal next version. This way regeneration remains weighty and scary like RTD usually writes it, without overwriting all the character development the doctor went through in the Moffat and Chibnall eras, instead of treating it like "vanity" like what 11 says in Time of the Doctor.

I love how he is immediately the Doctor. It felt like he immediately knew who he was and what he was about. No awkward “who am I now” or even from OUR side of not seeing the Doctor as the Doctor till a few episodes in when we get used to it. He was IMMEDIATELY THE DOCTOR!!!!! All confidence and swagger. Ncuti may have the strongest hold on me since Matt Smith… and Smith was My Doctor🤷 I can’t wait to see what RTD does in his second run.😊 it’s a strong start in my opinion 😏
Interestingly, if the "therapy out of order" theory is correct, it actually makes perfect sense: He never forgets any of the people he's been, so when he becomes 15, he _remembers_ seeing what he looked like back when he was 14. Meanwhile, here, bi-generation happens, 14 and 15 meet, 14 retires to live an ordinary life, and 14 eventually regenerates into 15 & pops out of his past self. He doesn't need to figure out what he looks like because he remembers seeing what he looks like when he experienced it from the other side.

There are composers that work differently like the composer of Dark who writes a bunch of music and then somebody else chooses where to play it in the episode, but Murray Gold almost definitely writes directly to the film so yes not only would he decide where the music goes but most of it will be written with the episode in front of him I’d imagine. Then of course some music does get re-used and edited etc
I'm so happy he's back, he's definitely a storyteller. I've loved the way he brought back iconic motifs like the arrangements of Donna's theme, I Am the Doctor, the Companions suite...indeed, musically this anniversary has felt like a beautiful tribute.
Seeing the Tardis in Donna's backyard kinda made me laugh. It's like a guest house for the elderly living with you that you're caring for. Except his house can travel. 😄
Ncuti’s Doctor just seems fun. Like he’s remembered that being The Doctor can be fun, adventures with friends? Fun. Seeing new worlds? Fun. Like he’s going to drink in all the excitement to be had in the vastness of time and space. I love it.

@@GrandHighGamer It has been the best part of a decade since the 50th was filmed, probably forgot the exact voice he did between then and doing big finish stuff. Also you sound different to you than you do to others. Because your jaw bone vibrates. It doesn't take much to be massively different for the whole accent. Also I noticed Billie Piper sounded different in the 50th than the previous series she did of Doctor who, sometimes voices just change.
At long last, 10 has his happy ending. It took 15 years and a couple faces in between, but at last he gets to have that normal life he desired and enjoyed so much when he was John Smith. As for 15. He hit the ground running. He's got an energy going. If he were a DnD character he put all his points into charisma. He's confident and fun and rolls with everything. I mean, dude's comes in and owns it. IN HIS UNDERWEAR! I can't state that enough. He's owning it and he hasn't even gotten dressed yet.
@@CaptainKrimsonHeart Ehh that's not what I meant. They are the same incarnation, same face with the same catchphrase, just differing experience. The gap in experience explains why 14 has a slightly differing personality in comparison to 10. 14 is portrayed as more open with his feelings because of all the stuff that he experienced as 11, 12 and 13. He had long term relationships with Amy and Rory, Clara and River which forced him to open up more. One notable thing is how comfortable 14 is with verbally expressing his love for his companions. 10 might have hugged you, but he had issues with saying I love you, eg his tearful bad wolf bay goodbye to Rose.
This was one of the greatest prizes the doctor could ever have. 2 Tardis’s. The Fourteenth Doctor still has his Tardis and is now living with one of his best friends and the Fifteenth Doctor has his Tardis going about the universe.
I wonder if it's a fully separate Tardis or just a second doorway into the same Tardis. It'd be funny if they ran into each other down in engineering or some such.
I wept tears of delight. 14 literally won it all! He has his TARDIS, and a family now. Everything his hearts desire! He can take all the time he needs to rest and recuperate after centuries of fighting the good fight. Meanwhile, 15 starts fresh and renewed to take up the mantle. This is everything I could ever hope for in Doctor Who!
It makes so much sense to on why 15 acts so bright and hopeful! The previous incarnation could fully rest for a lifetime. Would do great wonders to the Doctor's mental health and mental stability.
Loved it when I watched it last night and just kinda teared up watching it just now in this clip. Tennant smiling as he hugged Gatwa was so sweet and those exchanges, the language about the younger and the older and just the performances. The send off, "Where's he going?" "Everywhere." Just pitch F'in perfect in every way. I can't recall looking forward to a new Doctor in a while and I really have loved the last four. Just fantastic. Makes me glad for this whole team of writers, creators, and actors. Can't wait for the ride ahead!!
Everything from the Bi-generation and to the end of the episode just had me sitting there with the biggest grin on my face. The whole thing was bloody brilliant. :D
I don’t like to count my chickens before they hatch but from what little we’ve seen of this Fifteenth Doctor (And Gatwa’s enthusiasm) there is a lot to look forward to this Christmas and beyond. I still want a little of the grumpy old Doctor, but this fresh face looks great fun!

Maybe, in the same way fans theorize Fourteen's future regeneration will be just him "poofing out of existence" as he's pulled back in time mid-regen to become Fifteen, his (original) Tardis will likewise also be dragged back in time to "be doubled" at this moment? ...I guess Fourteen never changes the desktop again, or maybe resets it shortly before regenerating...
There's something amazing about seeing The Doctor hug one of his own previous incarnations, and then telling them "I love you". I'm not sold on bigeneration as a concept, especially with how messy it is, but god damn do they make it work with wonderful moments like this
We definitely need a spin off episode now with all the Tennant Doctors together doing some wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff. There's gotta be like 4 of them now, right? The 10th doctor, the 10th doctor post regeneration, the human clone doctor, and the 14th doctor.
That jukebox is a nice addition although I hope it's not gonna be the only addition. The only thing I don't like about the new Console Room is that it's too empty. What I'm thinking is, it would be really fun and cute if the Tardis got new things inside it after every adventure. Sort of like a souvenir of every new place the Doctor's been to!
I've always wished for that! I think we've seen some companions who keep souvenirs from their adventures, but would be much fun to see what the Doctor would collect.
It’s still not a hard fix. Surely, 14th can just leave, live his life, then return with the TARDIS a couple minutes in his future. Or hell, 15th can fly off and come back with it at the end of HIS tenure
Okay, so I haven't watched the specials but I think I got this figured out: -Toymaster makes them bi-regenerate because their previous 2 games were done with different iterations. -They win together. -14's wish destroys the Toymaster (effectively, I don't remember what actually happens because I read this online). -15's wish is a duplicate TARDIS. -14 lives with Donna's family and has an extended holiday. -15 leaves. -15 is effectively pulled to that moment from after 14's extended holiday so (using random numbers) 14 is still like 2000 years old and 15 is now like 2100 years old and regenerated through time to that moment, so TECHNICALLY speaking, you could assume that the TARDIS is the same one too and he really just pulled it through time to now (if you like).
You have to remember, Ten NEVER got his reward, so in a way, he got a second chance to redo the things he did wrong like the chance to give Donna's memory back to her in The End of Time, as well as settling down and being a family, which makes the whole "I need a mate!" quote even funnier.
He did, actually. The Doctor settled down with River for twenty four years, then subsequently did the same with Missy for decades. This time it's different because the Doctor isn't facing a looming deadline, or working on a project. He simply let go of everything, all his worries and fears, and just rested. Nothing to do, nowhere to go, nobody to fight. Just stop and rest.

I'm very much in the camp that thinks this made sense. After centuries of death, destruction and pain, I like the idea of a Doctor that can take things a bit easier and give his life a healthy balance. An older version of Ten being the one to enjoy that is the cherry on the cake. 😊

So far, Ncuti is the only Doctor whose smile feels genuine to me. Matt and Peter felt goofy to me. Like their smiles were just to make their companion feel at ease or to show they're in control of the situation. Ncuti just looks unbothered, moisturized, and ripe for new trauma.
yes, he left Fourteen to heal and address the trauma the way trauma should be addressed, not by running away or running toward things while leaving things behind, but with an actual support system of family and friends. It's no wonder Fifteen has a different energy.

I find it funny how the 14th Doctor inspects the new TARDIS but seemingly decides he wants to keep the old one. Also I really like the idea of the Doctor as before keeps travelling the universe with a new face but his former-self gets time off to take a break and I guess when 14 regenerates into 15 it somehow will straighten the timeline which got split-apart through their bi-generation as the 15th Doctor is an incarnation of the Doctor who had time to heal but popped in earlier in existence.

The Doctor's TARDIS is a conscious entity. There was an episode in series 6 where she literally becomes a woman and reveals that the "navigation faults" of the TARDIS were intelligent decisions to reroute the Doctor's travel to where she felt he was needed.

Three Doctors were the Time Lords nightmares all true at once, 13 caused the daleks to ignore all other distractions and attempt to vaporise Gallifrey before they were destroyed.
Love how he gets to retire with a family. 10 and 14 loved the companions, so it makes the most sense for this doctor to return and spend his time with them. Could even set up a spin off show 👀 Who knows, maybe he can infinitely regenerate into Tennant too or become the Curator. I don't think the theory about him becoming 15 eventually in a time loop thing because 14 is still around and is active and time can be rewritten. 15 just has his memories that are going to happen My theory is 14 stays 14 forever and doesn't change his face if he regenerates. Or he does change his face and there's actually 2 Doctors active exploring the universe, but this Doctor just does it on rare occasions since he's based with his companions. I actually love the idea of 2 Doctors roaming about though haha.
There are, in effect, now two Doctors. 14 cannot regenerate again, though. He's a remnant, a result of the Doctor subconsciously siphoning off all of his guilt and fears. That's why 15 is so ecstatic; emotionally, he's been reborn. An incredible weight has been lifted from his heart because of the bi-generation. 14 will continue to live his life. Even without regenerating, he can live for many centuries. Oddly enough, I think that we've seen 14 once before, long ago, in the classic series. I'm looking forward to seeing if my theory is right.
@Cailus3542 that's just something you made up, there's nothing that says 14 won't Regenerate. Plus, 14 has to Regenerate at some point so that the Version of 15 that Bi-Generated out of 14 can come into existence...
14 is like "Oh, you redecorated....i don't like it" and quickly takes the one without the Jukebox :P Some People hate it, the majority love it, the whole end is just wonderful, everyone who loved David Tennant (like me) and Donna are getting their Happy Ending for the two. While Ncuti provides us with more adventures! (and 15th Theme SCREAMS adventure, such a amazing new piece from Murray Gold!)
I have seen somewhere between 0 and 2 people complain about the bi-generation. I'm astonished there hasn't been more pushback, but I couldn't be happier that there isn't.
Genuinely feel we're building to something bigger with 14 still upon us, could tie into whoever the big bad is for Ncuti, but regardless The Giggle was something else.

I'm guessing Tennant will turn up in the heavily speculated / rumoured UNIT spin off - as an occasional guest / semi-regular (but not a full time cast member). Can definitely see him being in for the launch episode / special if it goes ahead, and maybe pop up if there's another Stolen Earth / Journeys End style cross over event at some point in the future. I certainly don't agree with the idea that this is the last we see of Doctor 14 & that he's going to "keep away from trouble" for all future episodes / spin offs set in modern day Earth. Also interesting (and for me exciting) that Davies is again seemingly taking inspiration from the 7th Doctor era (first time round it was Survival with Ace returning home and catching up with old friends, and Ghostlight / Curse of Frenric with Ace confronting things from her past / childhood - both elements mirrored with Rose and the other Davies companions having mothers / family's who get caught up in the Doctors adventures even without travelling with him and Fathers Day / Pete's World with Rose's dad dying while she was a baby & the alternate reality version of him). Now he's leaning into Battlefield / Greatest Show in the Galaxy / Curse of Fenric style "myths, legends & gods" - arguably Remembrance of the Daleks & Silver Nemesis (with the Hand of Omega & the "living statue" had similar elements thrown into the mix too, although maybe more "legends" than myths or God's). Now I just need someone to start calling Doctor 15 Merlin and everything is in place while we await the one who waits.
I love how quickly 14 was like 'Oh no you don't, I know this trick' when he popped out the TARDIS: amazing. Cannot WAIT to see Ncuti at christmas! He's gonna be FAN-TASTIC!
The Doctor's prize is he gets the day to day life on Earth that the 3rd Doctor had and the 4th Doctor got bored of and left. Some people don't know when they are well off.
Took me a minute to settle in with the bigeneration, but after a few days it's sitting well with me. While I love seeing a grumpy/sad/traumatized Doctor, the show can only hold up so much lore before it collapses. I like the theory that Fourteen will heal and regenerate into Fifteen, and the Fifteen we see here has had time to recover and explore the universe with joy again.
I remember one of the big problems Tennant saw with him being the Doctor again when they filmed the Day of the Doctor was thinking they could no longer get his hair to stay up. Seems that problem has been solved, so looking forward to seeing him in the next decade-special!
This is by far the best outcome for David's doctor, he has always been my favourite and I'm so happy he gets to stay and live with his family and friends ❤ as Donna said he returned "To come home" I'm glad he is happy.

I do like the subtlety of 15 taking the “new” Tardis. Letting 14 keep the original. He’s being kind to himself because he knows 14 would hurt.
I love his quiet little "I am _so_ sorry" to the Tardis after he smacks the new one out with the big mallet.
The "new one" isn't new, its older. Time travel gets wibbly wobbly!
So 14 keeps his tardis, he grows old, dies (probably becomes a few of his other faces too) and finally gets snapped back to the bigeneration now as the 15th Doctor.
Well what happens to that tardis that 14 has parked by the time of his death? Sits there forever? No. His wish, now as the 15th was to pull HIS Tardis from where it was parked. Splitting the tardis's time stream. Pulling the future version from the older version.
The Doctor keeps the Tardis they've traveled with and love. Nobody gets a copy, a clone or a new one.
Or at least, thats how I like to think of it. Also explains the Random jukebox. 14 added it during his incarnations life.

Who's to say the original wasn't the one that was knocked away leaving the copy in it's place? Or perhaps it can be thought of like cell division and they are both the original and copy simultaneously? Or maybe even it remains the exact same Tardis only from another point in time.

i love how fifteen basically treats fourteen like a companion of sorts. from the hug and the kiss on the forehead and reassurance, to telling him "go on" when stepping into the tardis. all the doctor needed to do to heal was to learn not to be so hard on himself, and just love himself.

I'm really liking this 15th doctor. He's bombastic, compassionate, charismatic, intelligent, and played by a really talented actor.
I haven't even watched the new episodes, but I'm glad the doctor's enjoying a fresh start bright eyed and bushy-tailed
RTD gave him a perfect set up to be liked too. 14th getting his happy ending thanks to 15th is a smart move. They can do a soft reboot of he show with a more light hearted tone, AND Ncuti won't get the hate Matt Smith initially got for being the "replacement" of David Tennant.
I really don't know how you got all of that from the short time he was on screen lol.
I haven't made up my mind yet but my first impression is that he's a bit bog standard, nothing unique or interesting just yet.
I really genuinely hope that he is a good actor, and wasn't just chosen for being black and queer, but the last few series of the show (plus those cringe pronoun moments in the first special) make me really worried.

I love how this doctor is already shown to be extremely empathetic to his previous self and other characters, as well as having the gravitas to command around David tenant's doctor. This new doctor seems to take in the peter capaldi's doctors "where I fall" monologue to heart.

I've just realised, 10 once told Wilf something like "I die and some new man saunters away, but he's not me", but it takes four regenerations before he realises that not only does he actually live to literally see it happen, it actually turns out to be something that makes him incredibly happy. I think it's funny how this is something that people who aren't fans of 10 have always criticized. That his view on regeneration kinda sours the longevity of the show by retroactively making each one a death that they didn't want. And some people were hoping 14's ending would "fix" that by having him accept change and move on.
And Russel just didn't do that, he doubled down in a roundabout way that I find funny and insanely bold (in a good way). 10/14's "good ending" isn't accepting death like some people hoped it would be, but actually getting to live his life to the fullest while passing the torch to his literal next version. This way regeneration remains weighty and scary like RTD usually writes it, without overwriting all the character development the doctor went through in the Moffat and Chibnall eras, instead of treating it like "vanity" like what 11 says in Time of the Doctor.

I love how he is immediately the Doctor. It felt like he immediately knew who he was and what he was about. No awkward “who am I now” or even from OUR side of not seeing the Doctor as the Doctor till a few episodes in when we get used to it. He was IMMEDIATELY THE DOCTOR!!!!! All confidence and swagger. Ncuti may have the strongest hold on me since Matt Smith… and Smith was My Doctor🤷 I can’t wait to see what RTD does in his second run.😊 it’s a strong start in my opinion 😏

Interestingly, if the "therapy out of order" theory is correct, it actually makes perfect sense: He never forgets any of the people he's been, so when he becomes 15, he _remembers_ seeing what he looked like back when he was 14. Meanwhile, here, bi-generation happens, 14 and 15 meet, 14 retires to live an ordinary life, and 14 eventually regenerates into 15 & pops out of his past self. He doesn't need to figure out what he looks like because he remembers seeing what he looks like when he experienced it from the other side.

There are composers that work differently like the composer of Dark who writes a bunch of music and then somebody else chooses where to play it in the episode, but Murray Gold almost definitely writes directly to the film so yes not only would he decide where the music goes but most of it will be written with the episode in front of him I’d imagine. Then of course some music does get re-used and edited etc
I'm so happy he's back, he's definitely a storyteller. I've loved the way he brought back iconic motifs like the arrangements of Donna's theme, I Am the Doctor, the Companions suite...indeed, musically this anniversary has felt like a beautiful tribute.

@@GrandHighGamer It has been the best part of a decade since the 50th was filmed, probably forgot the exact voice he did between then and doing big finish stuff. Also you sound different to you than you do to others. Because your jaw bone vibrates. It doesn't take much to be massively different for the whole accent. Also I noticed Billie Piper sounded different in the 50th than the previous series she did of Doctor who, sometimes voices just change.
At long last, 10 has his happy ending. It took 15 years and a couple faces in between, but at last he gets to have that normal life he desired and enjoyed so much when he was John Smith.
As for 15. He hit the ground running. He's got an energy going. If he were a DnD character he put all his points into charisma. He's confident and fun and rolls with everything. I mean, dude's comes in and owns it. IN HIS UNDERWEAR! I can't state that enough. He's owning it and he hasn't even gotten dressed yet.

The gap in experience explains why 14 has a slightly differing personality in comparison to 10. 14 is portrayed as more open with his feelings because of all the stuff that he experienced as 11, 12 and 13. He had long term relationships with Amy and Rory, Clara and River which forced him to open up more.
One notable thing is how comfortable 14 is with verbally expressing his love for his companions. 10 might have hugged you, but he had issues with saying I love you, eg his tearful bad wolf bay goodbye to Rose.
This was one of the greatest prizes the doctor could ever have. 2 Tardis’s. The Fourteenth Doctor still has his Tardis and is now living with one of his best friends and the Fifteenth Doctor has his Tardis going about the universe.

I wept tears of delight. 14 literally won it all! He has his TARDIS, and a family now. Everything his hearts desire! He can take all the time he needs to rest and recuperate after centuries of fighting the good fight. Meanwhile, 15 starts fresh and renewed to take up the mantle. This is everything I could ever hope for in Doctor Who!
It makes so much sense to on why 15 acts so bright and hopeful! The previous incarnation could fully rest for a lifetime. Would do great wonders to the Doctor's mental health and mental stability.
Loved it when I watched it last night and just kinda teared up watching it just now in this clip. Tennant smiling as he hugged Gatwa was so sweet and those exchanges, the language about the younger and the older and just the performances. The send off, "Where's he going?" "Everywhere." Just pitch F'in perfect in every way. I can't recall looking forward to a new Doctor in a while and I really have loved the last four. Just fantastic. Makes me glad for this whole team of writers, creators, and actors. Can't wait for the ride ahead!!

It’s still not a hard fix. Surely, 14th can just leave, live his life, then return with the TARDIS a couple minutes in his future. Or hell, 15th can fly off and come back with it at the end of HIS tenure
Okay, so I haven't watched the specials but I think I got this figured out:
-Toymaster makes them bi-regenerate because their previous 2 games were done with different iterations.
-They win together.
-14's wish destroys the Toymaster (effectively, I don't remember what actually happens because I read this online).
-15's wish is a duplicate TARDIS.
-14 lives with Donna's family and has an extended holiday.
-15 leaves.
-15 is effectively pulled to that moment from after 14's extended holiday so (using random numbers) 14 is still like 2000 years old and 15 is now like 2100 years old and regenerated through time to that moment, so TECHNICALLY speaking, you could assume that the TARDIS is the same one too and he really just pulled it through time to now (if you like).
As passing the torch scenes go, this is an absolute dream. All I can say is exactly what David said at the very end: Good luck.
A phenomenal episode, seeing Ncuti work with David and parting as brothers make this my favorite regeneration

You have to remember, Ten NEVER got his reward, so in a way, he got a second chance to redo the things he did wrong like the chance to give Donna's memory back to her in The End of Time, as well as settling down and being a family, which makes the whole "I need a mate!" quote even funnier.
He did, actually. The Doctor settled down with River for twenty four years, then subsequently did the same with Missy for decades. This time it's different because the Doctor isn't facing a looming deadline, or working on a project. He simply let go of everything, all his worries and fears, and just rested. Nothing to do, nowhere to go, nobody to fight. Just stop and rest.

So far, Ncuti is the only Doctor whose smile feels genuine to me. Matt and Peter felt goofy to me. Like their smiles were just to make their companion feel at ease or to show they're in control of the situation.
Ncuti just looks unbothered, moisturized, and ripe for new trauma.
yes, he left Fourteen to heal and address the trauma the way trauma should be addressed, not by running away or running toward things while leaving things behind, but with an actual support system of family and friends.
It's no wonder Fifteen has a different energy.

I find it funny how the 14th Doctor inspects the new TARDIS but seemingly decides he wants to keep the old one. Also I really like the idea of the Doctor as before keeps travelling the universe with a new face but his former-self gets time off to take a break and I guess when 14 regenerates into 15 it somehow will straighten the timeline which got split-apart through their bi-generation as the 15th Doctor is an incarnation of the Doctor who had time to heal but popped in earlier in existence.
Yeah basically, when 14 regenerates into 15, he’ll be pulled back in time to the time of the bigeneration as a result of the Toymaker meddling.
@@Mrtrainlover679 And just to keep things neat and tidy, I imagine his TARDIS will get pulled back to this moment to become the duplicate that 15 rides off in at the end.

@@podcastlvr5689 I heard that, too and it would make sense. So far it was called "Series" right? But after this special it really feels like a Reboot of some sort so the right timing to start with "Season 1".
It's unclear which TARDIS is the original and which is the copy, but maybe that's the point.

The Doctor's TARDIS is a conscious entity. There was an episode in series 6 where she literally becomes a woman and reveals that the "navigation faults" of the TARDIS were intelligent decisions to reroute the Doctor's travel to where she felt he was needed.
I’m already so in love with this new theme - it just feels like the 15th is taking a victory lap everytime I hear it with that jumpy orchestra and the choir 🫶
I doubt they'd have the budget for it, but I kinda wish Tennant's TARDIS interior was his old "desktop theme." Just one more time, for old times' sake.
There's something kinda funny about the idea that canonically now there's full on two Doctors running around at the same time constantly, that's bound to give some of the Doc's enemies nightmares
Three Doctors were the Time Lords nightmares all true at once, 13 caused the daleks to ignore all other distractions and attempt to vaporise Gallifrey before they were destroyed.
Love how he gets to retire with a family. 10 and 14 loved the companions, so it makes the most sense for this doctor to return and spend his time with them. Could even set up a spin off show 👀
Who knows, maybe he can infinitely regenerate into Tennant too or become the Curator.
I don't think the theory about him becoming 15 eventually in a time loop thing because 14 is still around and is active and time can be rewritten. 15 just has his memories that are going to happen
My theory is 14 stays 14 forever and doesn't change his face if he regenerates. Or he does change his face and there's actually 2 Doctors active exploring the universe, but this Doctor just does it on rare occasions since he's based with his companions.
I actually love the idea of 2 Doctors roaming about though haha.

There are, in effect, now two Doctors. 14 cannot regenerate again, though. He's a remnant, a result of the Doctor subconsciously siphoning off all of his guilt and fears. That's why 15 is so ecstatic; emotionally, he's been reborn. An incredible weight has been lifted from his heart because of the bi-generation.
14 will continue to live his life. Even without regenerating, he can live for many centuries. Oddly enough, I think that we've seen 14 once before, long ago, in the classic series. I'm looking forward to seeing if my theory is right.

Some People hate it, the majority love it, the whole end is just wonderful, everyone who loved David Tennant (like me) and Donna are getting their Happy Ending for the two. While Ncuti provides us with more adventures! (and 15th Theme SCREAMS adventure, such a amazing new piece from Murray Gold!)

I have seen somewhere between 0 and 2 people complain about the bi-generation. I'm astonished there hasn't been more pushback, but I couldn't be happier that there isn't.

I see a few future episodes with both Doctors, and I am so here for it. Love this. The end and regeneration was an absolute shocker, and I loved it.

I'm guessing Tennant will turn up in the heavily speculated / rumoured UNIT spin off - as an occasional guest / semi-regular (but not a full time cast member).
Can definitely see him being in for the launch episode / special if it goes ahead, and maybe pop up if there's another Stolen Earth / Journeys End style cross over event at some point in the future.
I certainly don't agree with the idea that this is the last we see of Doctor 14 & that he's going to "keep away from trouble" for all future episodes / spin offs set in modern day Earth.
Also interesting (and for me exciting) that Davies is again seemingly taking inspiration from the 7th Doctor era (first time round it was Survival with Ace returning home and catching up with old friends, and Ghostlight / Curse of Frenric with Ace confronting things from her past / childhood - both elements mirrored with Rose and the other Davies companions having mothers / family's who get caught up in the Doctors adventures even without travelling with him and Fathers Day / Pete's World with Rose's dad dying while she was a baby & the alternate reality version of him).
Now he's leaning into Battlefield / Greatest Show in the Galaxy / Curse of Fenric style "myths, legends & gods" - arguably Remembrance of the Daleks & Silver Nemesis (with the Hand of Omega & the "living statue" had similar elements thrown into the mix too, although maybe more "legends" than myths or God's).
Now I just need someone to start calling Doctor 15 Merlin and everything is in place while we await the one who waits.
Who knows, maybe 15 will meet King Arthur.

The Doctor's prize is he gets the day to day life on Earth that the 3rd Doctor had and the 4th Doctor got bored of and left. Some people don't know when they are well off.

well, they've been through a lot since then. In the grand scheme of things the earlier Doctors had barely set off..
Took me a minute to settle in with the bigeneration, but after a few days it's sitting well with me. While I love seeing a grumpy/sad/traumatized Doctor, the show can only hold up so much lore before it collapses. I like the theory that Fourteen will heal and regenerate into Fifteen, and the Fifteen we see here has had time to recover and explore the universe with joy again.
I remember one of the big problems Tennant saw with him being the Doctor again when they filmed the Day of the Doctor was thinking they could no longer get his hair to stay up. Seems that problem has been solved, so looking forward to seeing him in the next decade-special!
This is by far the best outcome for David's doctor, he has always been my favourite and I'm so happy he gets to stay and live with his family and friends ❤ as Donna said he returned "To come home" I'm glad he is happy.

Everything about Ncuti’s doctor seems like fun and I love how he instantly just kinda took over while still giving David his goodbye.
I like to think that The Curator from Day of the Doctor is a further down the line regeneration of 14th Doctor after he split and went on his own way.
The 14th doctor is now somewhat like the watcher. And he will eventually go back to that moment and become 15. He is just taking a break. 15 is fine because 14 fixed himself. It's still the same person.
