Gosh! I learnt when I was about 11 and I’m now 63 so hard to remember! I did needlework at school for O’level (like GCSE) and so luckily was well taught from the start. My mum was a great dressmaker and my granny was a domestic science teacher! I waited a long time to get an overlocker and I think now I would encourage others to do it sooner and not to be afraid of sewing knits. Diana
For the longest time I just thought "wow, I sure wish I could make clothing like that," or "wish I knew how to fix a tear like this. Oh well, too bad I'm too [self-deprecating insult] to do something that cool." But darn it, I wanna make clothes and curtains and cool stuff! And I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing! So thank you thank you thank you for putting up videos like this. It makes an intimidating dream feel downright attainable :)
I started sewing in 2017.i really like all your comments I relate to everything you said, accept I haven't yet serviced my machine but I need a new one I really don't like this machine it's got bells and whistles that don't work properly next time I will Def do my homework and go for something simpler
im finding out i did not know all the simple small things that make a huge difference like material getting stuck because i did not hold the long thread in the back in the back thread as i starting sewing
YOU sound like me I shy away from buttonhole and invisible zipper as well. And another thing I never had anybody I could sew with I never had a sewing buddy so it was hard for me to get going a lot of time

I would practice sewing in a straight line more and I would change my needle more often!

Pipe cleaners are so brilliant!
Are you happy with Pfaff? Would you recommend them as a brand?
I love using Pfaff and would recommend. I also use a singer machine. Both are great.

When I close my eyes and listen to this video, I see you wearing an Olive green tight knit sweater.
That’s weird. 🤷♀️
