Don’t worry too much about pronunciation. Some people care, but most people appreciate your best efforts. Professionally it can be very hard for people living in a country that doesn’t largely speak their native language. I was a student in Italy for a while, and I remember feeling shy and embarrassed about my Italian. The manager at my apartment told me that Italians simply appreciate the fact that I didn’t assume they could speak or understand English.

She's a professional English teacher. And teaches English to Italians and Japanese. She dedicates her life to learning languages. So, if you want to sound like that, you will need a lot of time to practice. But it's possible.
She probably has an easier time with the language b/c Italian is really similar. Both languages are very sing-songy with lots of syllable and consonant length variation, and some Italian regional dialects like Calabrian are even more similar.

The prosody of the language, especially the whispered vowels and gemination, makes understanding everyday spoken Japanese that much more difficult. People who know similar languages where vowel and consonant length is variable and lexical will have an advantage in that regard. It also doesn’t hurt that Italian verbs are highly inflected like Japanese ones vs English and Chinese which are on the complete opposite end of the spectrum.
She seems like a fun person to be around. Even as a super introverted barely social person for whatever reason i tend to find that my most meaningful friendships are with people like this. My best friend is the total opposite of me personality wise but we get along extremely well and he’s able to consistently bring me out of my shell and step out of my comfort zone. The best part is I’ve never felt pressured to do anything I didn’t want to. Like I’m very reclusive but if he invites me to go anywhere I’m there in a heartbeat.
