I like to come back and re-watch your builds. You, Dusan and the Russian guy that has the ALL MODELS channel. are my two favorite modelers on UA-cam, modelers that actually show the build process and share your techniques. I also have recently discovered a Russian guy guy who has the "ALL MODELS" channel that I have learned some techniques from that I think you would, as I did, really liked. One thing in particular was how he handles gaps with putty. Instead of sanding it off, he takes a rag with alcohol and simply wipes the excess awy(after it is completely dry of course) and Alex, I tell you, it works great. No re-scibing of panel lines, or scratching the surface. He just wipes it off level to the surface where the seam or gap was. He has a few video's on the channel that are done with english voice-over. Look for them on the playlist at his channel. He also scratch builds in extra detail that was not already molded onto the model that looks great, and all as he demonstrates very easily with little pieces that he had lying around his bench, or uses sprue. The video's are long, but VERY instructional and I think even someone as experienced as you could pick up a few good techniques. I'm 57, and after 10 tear lay off am back building again now that I'm retired because of my health. Somehow I feel like you are my friend through just watching your video's. I bet if we lived in the same country, and close to one another we certainly would be. My wife says it's the modeling connection, she's probably right. All the best to you and your family. By the way, i am about to buy a complete set of the AK TRUE METAL, as well as a complete set of AK's EXTREME METAL. I'll let you know how the EXTREME METAL works out. I'll try to film a demo and post for you, then let you know it's up. Again, all the best my brother, God Bless!
Another excellent build Alex. Thanks so much for taking the time to film it, edit and upload it! Not to mention all the time you spent building, painting, weathering and detailing it. Loved the idea with the harnesses, using masking tape to make them....brilliant my friend! All the best, God Bless you and your family.
Alex, I love the way you use both spray paint and brush paints to make this thing look outstanding. you make it look as good as just a regular airbrush model. excellent work my friend. And boy do I commiserate with you on the carpet monster I think it attacks everybody
Absolutely brilliant build. Many of my old man's instructors were Vampire pilots. Love the aircraft. Saw some of these still flying when I was a kid. Great skills
always a pleasure to look at your builds Alex, really enjoyed it as always. Nice build and i really like the way it turned out, you did a very nice job and prove again you do not necessary need an airbrush to do outstanding work !!!!
Did one of these years ago painted her green and brown camo on top and yellow on the bottom best model I did sadly she's no long with us Great build mate
Great video but (and i hate to sound like a rivet counter) but the panel lines could have been a lot lighter. Google Ohakea Vampire and see one on display outside a NZ airforce base for good reference pics. End of the day you made an average kit look good.
+WebbyNZ thanks... i totally agree with you but these kits lately have been all about practicing paneling and riviting... but your absolutly right. Thanks for watching
Great build, Inspired me to build a Vampire as you have done, can you let me know what silver/aluminium/metal paints you used. I too have a bloomin' carpet monster.....it eats anything dropped on it !!!!
AlexModeling Got two more Airfix Vampires to build but modelling is not the foremost thing on my mind tight now.. had some bad news after my sons last check-up in London but we will deal with that accordingly, in due course.. at least this time around we're armed with a heck of a lot more knowledge and experience, and can deal with any issues in a different way. It'll all get sorted again.. I'm sure! :)
Ahoy Alex Beautiful job buddy she looks real with the outside pictures something about natural sunlight it brings out the true colors of any spectrum. I am happy you found the stabilizer end piece those rugs are like Houdini now you see it and now you don't no matter how long it takes you the only way it is found when you step on it, Fabulous job buddyFrankie Day
I don't build 1/72 (1/48 and larger) but this is a great video and great little build. I generally do not like background music at all, but only when people are talking - yours was music only which makes a difference.
Hi Alex, great to see you back posting video's. Great one this too. Since you build so many models can you advise me a plane kit to model with my 8 year old kit?
+Twentecable hy there:) why not start with a snap kit? star wars? kids love that.. tie fighters, x-wings... this way you start him on the hobbye and spend some quality time and in time you can upgrade it.. teach him the danger of blades and ca glue.. and then... a 1/72... then you can choose:) only my opinion:)
Hi Axel. Thanks for responding. I realize in her age she cant work alone. So I am Always next to her to help her. She already built a 1/48 Revell Sopwith Camel (nice kit for starters). A 1/24 Ford Mustang GT (higly recoomended for starters, almost built it herself). A 1/72 Reveel Gohst ship (Very bad fit, moulding, fiddly parts not recommended). So she can cut, file and glue :-). So what would be your next choice?
No philosophy here my friend... you grab a kit or two... call her and give her a choice... the kit that makes you both smile more... choose that one... i loved the revell 1/32 bf 109 or the spit. . But eduard have aome lovely weekend kits at 1/48
Erm, if you just keep the original sound with unpacking, clipping, filing etc., this would be an awesome ASMR video. Id love to see that. Like if you agree. The modeling in itself is plain awesome.
+Cordyceps Militaris thanks but i didin t understand your message tottaly.. you mean leting the real sound also on along with the sound track? Is this what your sugesting? :)
+AlexModeling No, just drop the soundtrack and record the noises of bulding with a sensitive close mircrophone in a quiet room. I imagine many of the noises being ASMR triggers in itself. Clipping, filing, oh, airbrushing! Im getting tingles even with the distracting soundtrack. One major asmr trigger is watching someone doing something masterfully. Working "in flow". Thats what you do. An example of this is "Baba the cosmic barbier", Bob Ross painting vids or watching an experienced doctor doing a cranial nerve exam. Thats called "Unintentional ASMR". Specialized UA-camrs intentionally work with "Triggers" like scratching, brushing noises, soft speaking etc. Thats what you dont need to do, i think its all alrady there, in the process of building. It would be "Unintentional ASMR" with trigger sounds, while you do what you love - building models. No need to talk at all. I think its worth a try. Nevertheless, ive been building models a lot till the late teens and enjoy it being done skillfully.
+Cordyceps Militaris thanks for the sugestion... right now i can t do that because the environemwnt were i currently live in... but i will give it a try when im at my new home... just the "native" sounds of the build right? Huuum... il give it a try.. thanks for your constructive sugestion
Also, dont cut the video, lust let all the scenes be, how you cut the pieces, file them, open the paint, prepare the airbrush etc.. You might think this would be boring, but its not if done skillfully.
+AlexModeling Exactly :D Your buidling skills are top notch and your video skills are also good. You seem to know your equipment. Maybe you can watch some ASMR Trigger videos to get a feel for a comfortable sound pitch and loudness. Im glad I could warm you up to the idea. Looking forward to see the results!
Painting some panels a different shade was probably not appropriate for the Vampire. RAF aircraft from this era were painted in a colour called High Speed Silver.

Carpet Monster 1 - Alex 0
+Hamilton its 1-1 now... but He is atacking now!:)
Las maquetas de Airfix me parecen malisimas
Youve put to many oanel lines on the upper wing. They had a karge pirce of ali sheet making the wing. Everyone nakes this mistake!.
