What a beautiful picture. At the time I was working with an Atlanta attorney and we were involved in arranging adoptions for those children from Vietnam.
The Great Race may have been deemed a disappointment at the time, but it was actually in the top highest grossing films of it's year, and even made a good amount of money. It's budget was pretty big though.
In fact, he said in an interview that he had suffered from depression almost all of his adult life and started going to psychotherapy as a young man. He was also an alcoholic (abstinence), smoked tobacco (a pipe and everything 😏), and morphine, and was well known on the Hollywood party circuit. Apparently, he had left ALL that (and his marriage too) shortly before meeting Andrews. He said he really couldn't have kept himself clean without her help. Of course, it is not surprising that the bad treatment he suffered from the studios made his depression problems worse. In addition to his two emotional crises: the one of middle age and the one of fear of aging (in his own words).
@@joyk555 what I was really hoping for was a biography that talks a lot about his earliest days his childhood and formative years but this doesn't show any of that
A sad loss. A witty, intelligent and humorous man.
R.I.P. and thanks for the memories.
Julie Andrews was only 32! So young. So beautiful, so talented. The best voice both sides of the Atlantic. And wholesome as you could wish!
That was nice to see Amy and Joanna at the end! I’m glad Julie and Blake saved them at the time that the Vietnam War was ending!
I love all his Pink Panther films w Peter Sellers. Wonderful!
Lovely video!! Two very nice people and a great story. Thanks for posting!
He was such a good person. I am sure he is in heaven.
Wow, I think this is the first time I’ve seen Amy and Joanna in an interview.
same apparently Julie and Blake didn’t want them to be shown on screen to much since they were so young.
He did get the best out of people like Peter Sellers, Burt Reynolds and Dudley Moore.
One of a Kind.
I too would like to see the whole bio. He's an interesting writer and director.
Blake, you are missed!!!

The Party seemed to be okay at the box office; it doubled its budget.
Yeah, it did okay.

R.I.P. Blake :(
" Blake began to sink into a deep depression "
Being treated by Hollywood that way can do that to a person 🙄
