- This week I went to meet Grace Lohan, an Irish ex-pat who owns Café Eriu - a very chic café in Bordeaux, France. She told me all about her experience opening a coffee shop in France and staying positive and creative during the pandemic.

My son lived in Australia for a couple years. He said the coffee down there was fabulous and he is a real coffee snob. In fact he is starting his own roasting business. So I started digging into it and I guess there was a large influx of Italians who moved there and brought a culture of coffee shops with them. So influential were they that Starbucks could not get a serious foothold in Australia. I love it when mom and pops are superior to the chain stores.
What a lovely story! I shall definitely be popping in here when next in Bordeaux.

I love Bordeaux so much and feel lucky to live here, although it's not my hometown :) Where do you live now?
I live in Southern California. I grew up near the Gare St Jean. I'm planning for another visit next year once it's safe to travel again.

It is! it's hard to see it in the video as coffee shops are still open only for takeaways in France but when it's open this place is super chic.
For a coffee i go in Verde Nero Café ^^
