I worked at telltale till the closure. Minecraft storymode 1 and 2 were a lot of the teams favorite project to work on so it was great to see it resonated with a lot of people.
@@noobymooby-ty8gh to be honest i watched like 5 episodes or something and after i chose the redstone option thing it still chose the other one, after that i dont think i watched it. Now i regret that, because i just probably miss clicked
For me Minecraft: Story Mode had one big flaw, it was *one story.* I watched playthroughs and after that there was no point in playing the game (which I realized after buying it). The game starts the same for everyone, people make different choices only to then either go through the same path with some details changed, or to go through different paths that later meet and go through the same path from there. Since there is only one ending to each episode you don't need to play the game after watching one playthrough.
@@randomality77 Yes, it is a bit of a joke to finally have meaningful story branching in 13th episode of the series, especially since it's the last ever episode as far as we know.
I never got to play it, but I watched UA-camrs play it. Yeah, it was kinda cheesy at times and certainly intended more for a younger audience, and maybe my younger teenager brain was more easily entertained back then but it genuinely seemed fun and very entertaining. The wither storm was absolutely terrifying but that and everything else just blended so well into the concepts surrounding Minecraft. I wish I had been able to play it back then, and I hope that the game gets re-released someday.
I think this is so incredibly sad. I personally think this was one of the best things I've ever watched/played. All of the plot points made sense, all of the lines were catchy and perfectly fit the situations, the characters were intricate and you felt like you had a connection to every one of them... it was such a masterpiece, and you can clearly see how much work Telltale put into it. I'm truly sad that it's gone, and still hope for a come-back
I actually have a physical copy of Minecraft Story Mode Season 1 and 2 sitting in just the other room. I loved those games so much, and I loved *most* of the characters (The intern? What was his name? I didn’t care for him. How did he even get to the admins domain while being chased by the Ender Colossus?
I think your taking about Radar, Jesse's intern. I haven't played S2 in years but I didn't really like him, thinking back. Besides that, yeah I liked almost all the characters. (Aiden can eat my ass though, I hate him)
What is so heart breaking is that beneath the big names for the audience pull, there was a dev team really working on passion projects. The Wolf Among Us is such an obscure series for anyone to include. Yes the Fable comics were great, but they didn't have the attention and pull bigger comics or series did. Telltale pulled a really obscure title and made a decent game (the issues with the entire rewriting of the game being ignored). Same with their early titles. As much as I loved the Walking Dead games, the success of it really just put the studio into a stand still of content. It was the same thing over and over with a different skin. I have high hopes for the new Telltale studios and hope some good news can be brought to Minecraft story mode. Despite how much people clowned on it when it came out, it did it's job in being an entertaining play for kids and adults.
This game shaped me a lot as a person. I became interested in gaming and storytelling probably because of MCSM. I still draw fanart and come up with silly little AUs to this day. I used to listen to the soundtrack to get me through online school. I read and wrote crappy fanfics. I started posting art online, all because of this game. This game was a big part of many people's lives, and my only hope is for it to be revived. Maybe one day it'll happen.
I feel that after its downfall, people didn't really play S2, which I thought was really good because they made massive improvements with a storyline that could be fun to play and not just a waste of time after you watched someone play it.
I'm not gonna lie, I'm so sad this game died. My mom bought it for me years ago...on her Xbox account. I'm gonna be so sad when I have to move out and can't play it anymore....
i mean you can still get a steam key for the game on G2A. i bought it recently and it included episodes 1-5 (season pass) and for 6-8 you have to buy the adventure pass steam key
@@Noobmoxi Thank you so much for letting me know! Minecraft is by far my favorite game ever, and when story mode came out, it became a close second. I just cannot let it go XD
Psst... You can find roms online. That's how I played it a year ago. I didn't feel to good, but I wanted to play it after watching dantdm Play it years ago
Besides Minecraft itself, this is one of the most nostalgic games for me. They were able to create a spin off of the actual game with a story that still perfectly captured the feeling of the original game, and the first season especially showed some of the best aspects and lore of Minecraft. The visuals were extremely well animated but never fully deviated from the original designs of Minecraft. And in the first five or so episodes, seeing the characters traverse through different biomes and lands reminded me so much of how it is to explore the immense world of Minecraft as a player. No matter what anyone says, I will always appreciate this awesome game!
Hopefully Minecraft: Story Mode will at least be available on steam again. If it doesn't, it isn't really a big problem for me since I already bought the gam before it was unlisted from steam, but it would be nice for other people to be able to just buy the game on steam without having to buy it from a store. The new Telltale Games could at least do that :P But great video! It's nice to know where Minecraft: Story Mode went after not hearing about it for, like, 4 years.
we asked telltale multiple times, they dont own the ip anymore they're going to have to be sucessful with the wolf among us 2 and their future games if they wanna get back certain things.
This game is literally my childhood. I also basically learned english with it. Of course it's not a quality game and so on. But it will just always have a special place in my heart. I remember playing season one over and over again, over ten or fifteen times, because my mom's ipad was too old to download the next one. When she upgraded her device i literally jumped on season two and i loved it as well.
Same here. Its basically one of the big factors on how I learned english. But pronounciation too as this game mostly had the characters speaking english until they eventually added the voice translations into the game.
It's so strange seeing someone still talk about Minecraft Story Mode today, but to be honest I still play it once in a while nowadays and also I listen to the game's music pretty often (yes I like the soundtrack a lot, well not every single song but a lot especially from season 2)
I never played the game, since watching it on youtube essentially gave you the whole experience but it was still fun to see people/UA-camrs play it, especially since some of them actually got featured in the game. Sad to see what happened with this game and the studio which produced it.
I never got to truly play *Minecraft: Story Mode.* At the time of release, I was still a kid raised by super protective yet supporting parents. I didn't have any money of my own, so the best I could do was to absorb it through UA-cam, and I fell in love. You could tell everything was made with love, from the story to every block placed that was meant to create this new world. (My personal favorite episode is The White Pumpkin one, where it's a murder mystery with iconic Minecraft UA-camrs of the time, such as DanTDM, CaptainSparklez, and Stampylongnose/head.) Everything about the game yelled out "We freaking love this game, so we're going to make the best game we can to show it." I also really loved how they incorporated Minecraft's features like the Command Block, Admin privileges, Structure Blocks, and even Different Servers. I only wish people saw what I saw. Seeing M:SM just be forgotten felt so sad, since all of the heart the game exuded was seemingly suddenly just abandoned. I really hope something with the same feel as Story Mode releases to critical acclaim, and can inspire more people to become storytellers in their own right.
I relate to this so much. I basically only had the first episode, but it was €5 per episode on iPad at the time and I was 11. I was broke lol. I’m 16 years old now and I never got the chance to buy minecraft story mode. I would watch all episodes on repeat while waiting for new episodes back in 2017. I knew all the scenes from the top of my head and would uh participate ship fanart. Pretty much it was my childhood. I would love to buy it one day
@@QUBIQUBED honestly I love how goofy it is lmao. Just replayed it recently at age 19 and loved it. I like things that don’t take themselves too seriously 😅
This was certainly a huge part of my tweens. The joy I felt when I saw my favorite UA-camrs upload playthroughs of this game was like no other; from PopularMMOs to DanTDM. It took Minecraft and gave it a story (before making theories on it's "hidden" lore was a big thing on YT), and me and so many other people ate it up, made our own stories, tons of fan art, and so on. Now that I'm older, it's much easier to see it as "cringey" and make fun of some poor writing decisions and dated quality, but I still very much enjoy it. It's charming in it's own way and will always be big part of my tween and teens. I also feel I grew with the game in a sense. Especially seeing how the UA-camrs I watched playing it have changed since then... PopularMMOs is no longer an iconic duo, Dan has two kids, RTGame (although I watched him more recently than the rest as an older teen) just got hit with massive age restrictions and may have to leave YT, Technoblade passed away... and so many more. It's a very memorable game for good or bad
Minecraft Story Mode is the reason I have any sort of talent when it comes to writing, and it’s been almost the main source of all my passion for storytelling since…god, I don’t even know how long. I’ve played this game over and over, again and again, and I’ve loved every second of it even as I’ve gotten older, and I’m so incredibly lucky to have bought it before it disappeared - even if I only own a digital copy, it’s one of my most prized possessions. I’m glad people still remember it :] edit: I know the game is bad, the writing goofy and dramatic, the animation flawed, the characters shallow and underdeveloped - believe me, I’m aware. But I love it anyway. You can enjoy a media you know is objectively bad, guys. That’s perfectly okay. Besides, the game got me through a dark time in my life - I’d be lying if I claimed it hasn’t influenced how I create in some form or another
tbh, i think the writing for story mode... sucked ass. Even as a kid. Season 2, only got worse writing wise. This is the game where people laughed over Rubin's death. The game with dumb silly dialogue, the game which has a nonsense 'find the killer' with youtubers, and the power of friendship will win the day trope I'm glad it gave you your passion but, Story mode is not the game you should be getting ideas from. Cause it tried to be edgy and emotional, and just ended up coming out as hilarious to make fun of.
@@woobgamer5210 dude I am well aware it sucks, and I enjoy it despite that! there’s passion in it, no matter how shitty the writing and stupid the animation. I bully it as I play it, I know it’s bad. That’s just half the fun. I think there’s really no harm in enjoying an objectively bad media as long as you’re aware it’s bad, especially because from that tends to come incredible fan content from talented people who also love it and think it deserves much better than what it got
@@woobgamer5210 it also got me through an incredibly difficult time in my life, when I desperately needed comfort and found it in this silly little game. It’ll always have a place in my heart for that
Telltale Games infamously has an abhorrent, naive, melodramatic and disconnected writing style. If you're taking a page from their book then I'm so sorry.
There are some really cute parts in the game. Like when you make the stone sword, you can make a lever. If you do, you keep it until EPISODE 4, when you actually use it.
I for one, really did enjoy it. It wasn't the best, but it was enjoyable. I actually did a playthrough of it on my channel. I really do hope that we do end up getting something more sometime. But it is rather interesting to me how the last season of Story Mode has a definite 'finale' feeling to it. I believe Story Mode (a port to Netflix) was the last thing that Old Telltale worked on, so it actually felt rather appropriate.
I have this funny little memory of this game: My sister was playing the part where there’s the final Wither Storm fight, and she got to the end. I was casually talking to her, and at one point she looked back at me while Reuben was lying on the ground, and when she looked back she saw smoke and a pork chop. The cry afterwards that is something I’ll never forget
For a year or two, I was obsessed with this game. Yes, I know a lot of people thought it was cringey or whatever, but I really liked the characters, and playing the game over and over helped me dismiss my anxiety, which had just started to develop strongly for me back when the game was released. It sounds stupid, but this game was my life for a while. I really loved it.
Makes sense. You play through both season for 20 hours and not everything is fresh in your memory so you get to replay it all over again. It’s really a great game.
I remember people giving TT, Microsoft, and Mojang so much flak for making a story based Minecraft game. I was pretty upset about it myself, but I also happened to be an easily influenced 10 year old lol. I eventually came around to trying it myself as a "joke" and ended up really liking it! MCSM actually got me into drawing comics because I wanted to write my own stories with these characters. For as silly as the story could be at times, Minecraft Story Mode will always hold a special place in my heart.
Damn mate. I didn't know you couldn't buy Minecraft Story Mode 1 and 2 anymore glad I was able to grab them both on PS4 as a discounted bundle with the 3 DLC episodes for SM1 that weren't part of the main story for like 10$ a year before the TellTale games shut down. Also glad they are back now but they will struggle for a bit in my option with out those big name IP's like walking dead and Minecraft cause I'd bet 10 bucks most people only know them for those IP games.
They honestly need to think about suing their investors. A big and SUCCESSFUL studio like this getting brought down definitively could’ve been prevented.
I played both games and loved it so much. I remember in ep 4 I spent an actual HOUR deciding on what armour to choose. In season 2, I had a glitch where all my choices were the opposite of what I choose, I still got through the game though and it gave me some of the best memories.
This game and its sequel were and are still one of my favorites. Seeing my favorite UA-camrs in a game together was amazing to me. I still like to come back to it every once in a while and watch youtubers who were the game play through it
I actually really loved Minecraft Story Mode, it was one of my favorite Minecraft games because there’s actually a plot, relatable moments, and simple button presses, instead of just sitting down looking for diamonds hoping there’s no lava or a creeper behind you. Which reminds me, I think Season 3 would be extremely popular if they added a feature called “Hardcore” mode, where if you die, it’s Game Over and you have to start the entire episode over, but the feature is for if you want to play the episode without dying or quitting, with quick reactions to button presses
Or make it so you can squad up with friends and make your own personal story, and instead of voice actors you can use your mic to talk to your squad mates
@@justjaein They never said their fanfics were about Minecraft characters, they just said MCSM inspired them to *write* fanfic. There's a difference. But also, what Vaccuum Helmet said.
@@justjaein There's nothing wrong with that. Many people use Minecraft as an outlet for creativity. That's exactly what the game is meant to be. There's no shame in that.
Great video! I was the audio lead for MSM for the last year or so, then I was part of that layoff period you mentioned. I was also a childhood fan of TTG so it was so cool working there for a few years! These days I am at Riot Games. I will never forget TTG or MSM! And RIP, Ivor AKA Paul Reubens!
Wow. it's so unusual and cool to see one of the studio employees. Thank you for participating in the creation of the best games P.S. I used a translator, so I'm sorry for the mistakes if there are any.😀
It’s just sad that this wholesome game company relied entirely on money and other companies. It just shows what money can do I guess. I loved this series with all of my heart. It was my childhood game. So unfortunate.
I absolutely love this game. I remember playing it all the time back then, usually on ios. But when they shut down, the ios app would only work for a little bit of time after, and the only other device I had mcsm on was the xbox360, on ios I had both seasons and now I only had season 1. And then my dad was tinkering with stuff, (i think trying to make space for new games) and accidentally removed episode 8. Its okay though, at least i have episodes 1-7.
This game is so nostalgic to me, I remember watching UA-camrs play throughs and it was so interesting to look at the different outcomes of what you say and the great characters and storylines, I prefer S1 but S2 was really good too! I will forever remember this game.
This game left such an impact on me. I was making fanfictions on it two years after the game ended from 2019- 2021. I still make them privately and no one reads them like they used to two years ago but I still miss all of it. I miss the whole game itself and all the people I met because of it.
It’s really sad, I remember when it came out and only watching till episode 2. I just recently remembered though i have it downloaded on my Xbox and I played through 1-8. I never even knew TellTale games even shut down until now, it bummed me out I wasn’t able to play 9-13. But I have hope for the future of Minecraft Story Mode.
After I heard the whole part where Steve and the lore was changed, I recollected my personal fanfic I made of minecraft... it's mostly about the Origins mod with hundreds of others, but there were a bunch of kingdoms that were about that certain origin. One of the Easter eggs in that fanfic is that the king of the human origin is Steve. And Alex was the captain of the guards of that zone, And there will be the Canon Herobrine in there too (I'm talking about the one that randomly stalks you in the game, not the one that's like a god)
Man I never truely knew now I know and it really sucks now knowing no one else can really get to play it I have both story mode games each episode finished they played a part in my child hood and it’s sad to see them go but I do pray they will make a comeback one day or atleast can have their copies finally sold again
I remember I got Season One for one birthday and Season Two for another birthday when I was younger. These games are so nostalgic for me and the state they're in is just sad, I still have my copy of Minecraft Story Mode Season Two and replay it every now and then. I still remember when people were talking about what's gonna happen in Season Two and hoping for a Season Three. Maybe well get a Season Three one day. Extra thing I remember being so hype for some reason when Ivor had a speed potion and he was like "I'm like the wind" and you had to dodge, I don't know why that was so cool to me.
It's quite unfortunate that the Revival of Minecraft didn't give Story Mode a big boost, in my opinion it deserved more, it introduced so many cool concepts, ideas and characters, im sad very few people remember it nowadays.
I remember getting the season pass edition of this game for my Xbox 360 for Christmas of 2016, and absolutely loved it! I remember spending hours in my room playing the game, time pasting by as a fly as I invested myself into the episodes of the game. I don't have the disc no longer, but I have the game online, as well as the first episodes. Ah, old memories...
They need to bring this back for an honor of Paul Reubens. Ivor was my favorite character in the game, he went to being a villain to being a hero, to being the most funny and enjoyable character in the game. RIP.
I was upset that the fandom really died out and that most people forgot and also didn’t even talk about it’s closure and downfall, but nice to see many talk about it here in this comments thread as well as this video itself
Wow I totally forgot this was a thing. It honestly had a surprisingly good cast like Patton Oswalt, Ashley Johnson, Pee-Wee Herman himself Paul Reubens, even Dee Bradley Baker did noise for the Pig. Not to mention they go UA-camrs like CaptainSparkels, DanTDM, and some others. Honestly the first season is one of the hidden gems from Telltale’s catalogue
story mode and another game telltale made are some of my favorites, while they arent available now im still glad to have one way to play them and if they ever put them back on steam or wherever i would gladly buy them
Theres a youtuber/twitch streamer called Kwite, maybe you have herd of him, maybe not, but..... he started playing/streaming minecraft story mode as a joke and to make fun of the game as he went along. I watched his journey and the game started growing on him. By the time he beat season 2, he was sad that it was over, and left a final message saying something along the lines of... he really really enjoyed minecraft story mode and if they some how made another season, he would definitely be playing it with open arms. That put a huge smile on my face and i never related to someone more in that moment. i LOVED minecraft story mode, it always bugged me when people like to be harsh on the writing and story or lack of game play. I always thought of tell tales games as movies that you can mess with. Also for the story, can no one have any harmless fun anymore?? people now these days, if a story doesn't have any heavy theming/topics or sicarios that would make your jaw drop, its instantly garbage. I felt this way when I saw thor in theaters with my friends and the movie was just so much fun to watch and we had a blast, or i saw avatar the way of water with my mom and i was so emersed with the world of the nature and enjoyed every second of it, i was just chilling. But to other people, those movies were awful and a waste of your time, i get it, people have different tastes but the standards are just too high, you can see this with gaming as well. But people expecting the same level of writing from the walking dead for a MINECRAFT story, that just boils my blood. I cut tell tale some slack bc how do you write a story thats based off of a sandbox game that has none, not to mention writing branches of outcomes and dialog. I have so much respect for tell tale games knowing how hard this can be to be pulled off, i can't imagine me writing different branches of stories and keeping track of them down the line. I had fun and im glad i was here from the beginning when it first released, i miss those days.....
This still reminds of how sad it is that they took the game off, i was one of the unlucky ones to not have the game when it was taken off. I did have it previously but i had to do a factory reset on my phone for various reasons and i never was able to get it again. It sucks that the company shut down due to funding and i really liked their games, i only wish that they would've been able to give their games to other companies so that people could still get them. Telltale was definitely one of the best storytelling companies in the business.
I remember being a kid accidentally buying minecraft story mode story access and my parents screamed at me lol but i'm glad I did it was so fun and heart warming, ill remember the good times I had
Similar thing happened with me. I got the game disc but when I started downloading the episodes I needed with help with something and my dad was coming down to help me and he saw the purchased button thinking I had purchased it when in reality it was already purchased by them. Either that or I accidentally purchased them
Actually regarding the article about TWD final season- the developers came back after the company disbanded i believe and they personally finished the game... for free / no pay at all. and yet the final game turned out REALLY well.
To me was the reveal of the Order of the Stone fraud…. Because it capsulates the reality of our world where we see people as righteous when they as rotten as corporations
oh man, i played the whole MCSM story, from Season 1 to the second.. a looooong time ago and i loved it sad to see that it has practically dissapeared...
I remember after watching a dew UA-camrs play and finish the game, me and my brother wanted to do the same so we downloaded the game and finished almost all (or all of them, can't really remember this happened ages ago) the chapters in one day, good times.
It was a pretty cool game, I’ll miss it, story was quite nice and I wish it could still be easily played so that I could potentially see more playthroughs of the game, I might see if there are any playthroughs I haven’t watched yet
Good video, but a little correction at 8:57 TWD Season 4 did get finished, just not by Telltale, it had to get finished by Skybound Games. Nonetheless, it was released in late 2018 and as of now all Telltale Walking Dead games are available to purchase.
So sad that the game was removed from shops. I remember playing mcsm at nights (I was around 12 years old) and afterwards watching different UA-camrs’ playthroughs… Now I still have full second season on my old iPhone 6s, and right now I decided to re-play this game to get some nostalgia
Every other day, I get so many reminders of what this game did for me. I hold this game close to my heart and don’t think I will ever let it go, I just can’t. I can only hope things turn to the best and something comes out, even if it’s just a small post that mentions it. It’s like the game is trying to be wiped off the planet so everyone can forget it exists. I will always think of this game as one of my favorites, it may even be my favorite. Even if I never got to play season one, I still can play through season 2 and feel the happiness I feel whenever I play it. Definitely my Comfort game. I won’t stop thinking of Minecraft Story Modes future and plan to keep it that way, even if there is a highly unlikely chance anyone will look back to it and continue where we left off.
It’s sad to see such a good masterpiece go, games like this were legendary, don’t even get me started on club penguin, that game was amazing, also the original design for Lukas is better than the one we had with the release ngl
THIS ^^^ Hell, I even attempted restoring the original model to the game through modding but this caused issues (yeah there are unused files for his hat, etc)
@@Mysti_Is_Taken I never got to record it sadly, however a youtuber called Issumer has once modded the Beta Lukas into the game (sadly no link, but I was told that porting Beta Lukas to other episodes caused glitches)
He was probably supposed to have a different story/character, heck, it looked like aiden and maya were gonna go on the adventure with you, maybe they were nice at one point or it would be character development? Not sure, or they just wanted Lukas’s design to be more simple.
I hope they'll get to rerelease Minecraft Story Mode, couldn't play it when it was new (I was terrified of the Witherstorm) and when I finally did have the courage to play it, it wasn't available anymore. I did get a secondhand switch version of the first season but the second season is a bit harder to get :(
We need to get another minecraft story mode, same with telltale games but hopefully better and have multiple paths. To have 3 stories along with different endings. So it would like this to me Good choice -> bad choice = neutral ending. Bad choice -> bad choice = terrible ending. Good choice -> good choice = good ending. Secret choice -> secret choice = secret ending. And how you'd get the secret choices for secret endings? It'd by 100% the game. And complete both the bad and good ending.
I was in the fandom in its heydey. Pretty well known as a fanfic author, too. For me, it was never really the game itself that sucked me in, since the writing is...Not Good. It was a cast of characters that I could easily adapt to different situations and a really good, tight-knit fandom. It took me a while to find a new fandom with the same energy.
Enjoyed the video, although one criticism is the cuts into another clip that itself soon cuts to something else. ie. cutting to a clip of another game mere moments before that clip itself cuts to another camera shot, or cutting to Minecraft just a few frames before opening a chest and the chest inventory suddenly appearing on the screen. It creates these jarring sudden flashes, because no longer is it a simple cut to the next clip, it's now a cut with a tiny few frame long other segment lodged in the middle, which can be a bit of a jarring viewing experience in those moments as it creates this very brief "flash" of something different. How I fix this is by either having the clip I'm cutting to start sooner so it's now a few seconds before it cuts to another shot instead of a few frames, or have the clip I'm cutting to start later in it (after the previous shot it would have been cutting from), or if neither of these is possible because it's going to result in another camera jumping cut just before the cut in my editing timeline into the next shot, I'll completely cut out the few frames of other shot, and then slow down the clip speed of the remaining footage to perfectly fit in the space I need it to, which usually isn't going to be noticed by viewers anyway because for example who's going to notice this one 3 second clip is running at 95% rather than 100% speed? For example, at 8:28, cutting to the investment chest which is only on screen for a few frames before its opened and the inventory pops up, it's very jarring. I would've let the preopen chest part of the clip be on screen for at least a solid second to let the viewer properly see that "this is the 'investment' chest" as oppose to just inventory jumpscaring them before they even get a chance to read it. So yeah, enjoyed the video, but the cuts can get pretty jarring and hard on the eyes at times
I have it on the google play store and played it when I was very young, it was an absolute banger. However after telltale shut down and you didn't have it installed on your phone or whatever mobile device, you basically can never play it again since telltale servers aren't up to download it. Hopefully at some point they gain the rights back so everybody can enjoy it again.
I remember seeing the ads on TV for this game and getting so hyped to get the new episodes whenever they were released on my tablet. Some people say the gameplay sucked. The story mattered - the gameplay was a bonus. Truly, though, younger me mainly wanted it because it was minecraft and I loved minecraft ever since I first played it in 2012. Both games holds a special place in my heart.
I remember I loved this game so much! I was obsessed with the game, even though I only got to play season 1 😢 Really hope they can bring the game back🎉
I remember playing only ever the first episode of season 1 back when it first came out with my uncle. I enjoyed it, but it was one of the only Telltale series I never got to finish. I was planning on coming back to it one day but got so sidetracked with different games now 7 years later its sad to know it's not even available anymore it was such a bizarre take to minecraft seeing it in the Telltale formula but it definitely worked really well. Telltale really did make some great games back then, and now that their back, I'm sure they'll make even more.
I do see your point about them not wanting to make the same mistake, but to me that translates to no more new chapters in M:SM But does the studio's return mean the already existing catalogue could reenter the stores? It doesn't cost any more money for development. Unless there's an ongoing license fee required to keep using those IPs
I worked at telltale till the closure. Minecraft storymode 1 and 2 were a lot of the teams favorite project to work on so it was great to see it resonated with a lot of people.
thanks for the comment man! really appreciate the whole studio and glad to see everyone there also enjoyed the game as much as we all did :)
i do kinda hope they make a season 3 it’d be cool

It’s one of the Telltale games I would go back to that isn’t The Walking Dead.
For me Minecraft: Story Mode had one big flaw, it was *one story.*
I watched playthroughs and after that there was no point in playing the game (which I realized after buying it).
The game starts the same for everyone, people make different choices only to then either go through the same path with some details changed, or to go through different paths that later meet and go through the same path from there.
Since there is only one ending to each episode you don't need to play the game after watching one playthrough.
Yeah, that was also the problem with most Telltale's games, is a interactive story that is not so interactive
Donny forget being outrageously over priced and just money gouging
I agree with that. As much as I enjoyed the game the first few playthroughs, I definitely wish there were more endings.

Just pirate it, there are still files around the internet, that's what I did and got to play it.

I'm truly sad that it's gone, and still hope for a come-back
if you want to play it still, look for the physical versions.
True. I never played the game but I watched another UA-camr do it. It feels better that way.

I miss this game :'(
Minecraft Story Mode was built. They said it from the VERY beginning. Nothing built can last forever..

When she upgraded her device i literally jumped on season two and i loved it as well.
Same here. Its basically one of the big factors on how I learned english. But pronounciation too as this game mostly had the characters speaking english until they eventually added the voice translations into the game.
Yeah!!! Same. Telltale games, having no dubs in my language were a big reason why I learnt English.

It was a very passionate game, but the dialogue is so goofy. Nowadays it makes me laugh because it’s not good lol

It's a very memorable game for good or bad

i LOVED minecraft story mode, it always bugged me when people like to be harsh on the writing and story or lack of game play.
I cant believe my childhood game is not available anymore 😢
Seeing minecraft story mode not being able to be purchased hurts man, I loved when a new chapter would come out, honestly loved them
I remember being a kid accidentally buying minecraft story mode story access and my parents screamed at me lol but i'm glad I did
it was so fun and heart warming, ill remember the good times I had
Similar thing happened with me. I got the game disc but when I started downloading the episodes I needed with help with something and my dad was coming down to help me and he saw the purchased button thinking I had purchased it when in reality it was already purchased by them. Either that or I accidentally purchased them
I remember "playing" the netflix interactive version. I swear, it was just a TV show that you rarely interacted with.
Actually regarding the article about TWD final season- the developers came back after the company disbanded i believe and they personally finished the game... for free / no pay at all. and yet the final game turned out REALLY well.
My most memorable moment of Story Mode HAD to be the Witherstorm, I'm surprised they were able to come up with such a monstrosity to begin with!
To me was the reveal of the Order of the Stone fraud…. Because it capsulates the reality of our world where we see people as righteous when they as rotten as corporations
This game is a 1,000× better than the Minecraft movie trailer
oh man, i played the whole MCSM story, from Season 1 to the second.. a looooong time ago and i loved it
sad to see that it has practically dissapeared...
I remember after watching a dew UA-camrs play and finish the game, me and my brother wanted to do the same so we downloaded the game and finished almost all (or all of them, can't really remember this happened ages ago) the chapters in one day, good times.
I never played Story Mode, and now I'm sad I probably won't ever get to 😥
It was a pretty cool game, I’ll miss it, story was quite nice and I wish it could still be easily played so that I could potentially see more playthroughs of the game, I might see if there are any playthroughs I haven’t watched yet
Good video, but a little correction at 8:57
TWD Season 4 did get finished, just not by Telltale, it had to get finished by Skybound Games. Nonetheless, it was released in late 2018 and as of now all Telltale Walking Dead games are available to purchase.
So sad that the game was removed from shops.
I remember playing mcsm at nights (I was around 12 years old) and afterwards watching different UA-camrs’ playthroughs…
Now I still have full second season on my old iPhone 6s, and right now I decided to re-play this game to get some nostalgia
I remember playing Minecraft story mode on Netflix when I was younger. good times
It was still in Netflix not too long ago
I have fond memories of me and my friends playing Tell Tale games all at the same time while discussing our decisions. They will be missed
It’s sad to see such a good masterpiece go, games like this were legendary, don’t even get me started on club penguin, that game was amazing, also the original design for Lukas is better than the one we had with the release ngl
THIS ^^^
Hell, I even attempted restoring the original model to the game through modding but this caused issues (yeah there are unused files for his hat, etc)
@@samumixofficial clips?
So it would like this to me
Good choice -> bad choice = neutral ending.
Bad choice -> bad choice = terrible ending.
Good choice -> good choice = good ending.
Secret choice -> secret choice = secret ending.
And how you'd get the secret choices for secret endings? It'd by 100% the game. And complete both the bad and good ending.
This video prompted me to watch a playthrough of the game and i got the biggest nostalgia trip of my life. Thank you.
Who is your favorite character? Mine is Lukas, but I also love Petra and Ivor. This game was my childhood :(
Mine's Petra, although I also really like Ivor and Radar. You know how I feel about Lukas 😬
@@randomality77no I don’t who tf are you
@@QUBIQUBED I'm Toby Flenderson
@@randomality77 Lucas is a nerd with a chimney on his head
mine was jessie and petra i quite thought those two make the quite great friends
Apks and piratacy:
"It probably wont be for a while"
*legit 1 and a half years later*
I do see your point about them not wanting to make the same mistake, but to me that translates to no more new chapters in M:SM
But does the studio's return mean the already existing catalogue could reenter the stores? It doesn't cost any more money for development.
Unless there's an ongoing license fee required to keep using those IPs
you for real with them returning?
