    This treehouse is legally considered a "residence" -- would you live here full-time?
    Thanks again Chris, and be sure to watch our tour of Tokyo's most exclusive members-only hotel: ua-cam.com/video/24RSjPdcT8E/v-deo.html

    I think the "sustainable" part is more to attract customers, most of the house is made of normal industrial material. Still a very nice treehouse, would love to have one in my garden

    • @FaradayBananacage
      @FaradayBananacage 2 роки тому +8

      100% agree. Chris hinted at that with his "sustainable refrigerator" remark.
      It reminds me of a video I watched a week or two ago about a high end resort in the Maldives. Think tropical islands with houses and walkways on posts over the water. The houses were "sustainable" and made of "natural materials", so no plastic or metal except for all of the plastic and metal in plain sight. Each was equipped with a "sustainable" swimming pool, filled with desalinated water at great expense and environmental cost. The only way to reach it was by "sustainable" jet to Male Island international airport, and then taking a "sustainable" seaplane trip to the island itself. I'm sure all of the abundant fresh fruits and ingredients for gourmet dining were "sustainably" flown in as well.
      Greenwashing at its finest, but at $5000 a night I'd expect no less.

    if there's one thing I have to say, "sustainable" doesn't mean "made using locally sourced random things", it means "material that has low impact on the environment. The choice to use rocks and branches from the forest nearby is entirely aesthetic, and isn't about being rinkey dink either. looking at the bathroom should be obvious, sustainable doesn't mean rustic and poor, as long as the materials are going to remain in the home for a century or two, and ideally would have an alternative than ending up in a landfill, it can fit in sustainable. Unsustainable shouldn't be a brand like how organic is just a buzzword, it should be a requirement, or a standard to meet. this house just seems to be proof of concept that sustainable can also be luxurious, that environmental can be both good for the environment AND no compromise comfort. if more people associated sustainable with just "not being wasteful", that would be a success.

    • @paulogaspar8295
      @paulogaspar8295 2 роки тому +3

      The reality is, the more confort and luxury you want the less unsustainable it's going to be. You have to compromise comfort for enveironment. Yes we can increase the efficency to make more luxury with less waste, but the more luxury you want the more the waste is going to increase. The rate at which it increases can be changed with tecnhology and better use of resources, but it will always increase.

    I built a treehouse when I was 10 yo. I used 2x4s for the flooring and inch thick planks for walls. I used steel nails to build the house supported by four tall pines growing close to each other.
    In less than a month, I experienced wall planks falling off for no reason. Then one corner of flooring collapsed.
    All those four pines swayed in the wind at their own pace and simply fatigued the nails I had used for construction into a catastrophic failure. Metal fatigue by living trees swaying in the wind.
    Should have used ropes :)
