Many thanks for the kind comments. We are looking at the possibility of doing another series of interviews soon. Keep watching this space!
Mick is one of the smartest interviewers I have ever heard. So respectful.
I respect Frank for numerous reasons, but the top four: 1) He cares about his cast and crew, and he treats them like human beings. He fights for them. (Check out his emails from the suit where he rants against the AMC execs.) That alone is unusual. 2) His twist ending for The Mist is genius. He made it look easy, but that was a very unusual thing to pull off with Hollywood funding. 3) He's smart as hell (as witness any number of movies, including Shawshank). 4) Frank is a real storyteller in an industry that too often doesn't care about story.
Also: fuck AMC
Since he started off as a crew member, I'm glad that's the case. It so happens that he and I were both crew members on my first paying job on a movie. It was a low-budget, limited crew, with a short schedule, all nights, mostly exteriors. In other words, not exactly a cushy gig.
How the hell do you make two of the most widely acclaimed films of all time and still somehow be underrated? You be Frank Darabont. Phenomenal director, almost equal in writing talent. It's been 12 years since The Mist already. PLEASE GIVE US SOMETHING INDEPENDENT OF AMC!!!!!!
Wish Frank would do a new king movie
One of the best directors of all time.
Frank darabont awesome director :)
I love Frank's reaction about THX-1138 being digitally remastered, haha. I felt the same exact way.
My DREAM is to meet Frank Darabont!!! Such SUCH an inspiration!
Fantastic interview, thank you for asking the questions that really matter!
Here i am again. Watching these videos with Frank Darabont, his words are so inspiring, he speaks to me on levels not much people could understand.
Thank you again for these videos!
This is awesome Mick, thank you!
Mick Garris and Frank Darabont should team up and direct The Dark Tower film series. It would be amazing.
Oh wow, Frank Darabont! I thought I'd seen all of these interviews... This man should make every Stephen King property!
Best screenwriter in Hollywood, aside from Aaron Sorkin.
Glad you're enjoying them!
Give this guy the Dark Tower in long form TV ASAP
Just subscribed! You ask a ton of great questions, Mick! Love the guest list! Can't wait to see who's on next! (Really liked the John Carpenter spot)
Thanks, all. We'll keep at it for you.
This is such a great interview on so many levels. Probably the best PM Ive listened to
John Gray Atkinson Many thanks! He’s a fascinating guy.
Mick Garris Interviews
I can only imagine.
I remember my mom always had a dog eared copy of the bandaged , eye-ball covered hand on Night Shifts cover. This book is a time machine for me. These stories are ingrained into my fiber of being. Probably read it cover to cover or jumping around story to story 30 times.
First story I ever read from it was Last Rung on The Ladder during a 5th grade Assesment Test. It made me cry then , and it makes me cry to this day.
Frank just kicks ass. Period.
**Great Interview Mick** I would have loved to see Frank Darabont do a realistic historical film about Vlad Dracula (The Impaler) away from the contrived vampire myths and Saxon propaganda. There is plenty of horror in a realistic Vlad story.
1138thz totally agree
I guest appear on some friends' horror podcast from time to time and I always mention this channel whenever possible. Love these interviews
Many thanks! Hope you're following the POST MORTEM podcast, with all new interviews.
Mick Garris Interviews but of course!
The guy who takes interview looks like thinner version of James Cameron 😂😂😂
His escape from Europe to America as a child is the same as Ivan Reitmans.
I enjoyed The Shawshank Redemption & The Green Mile.👍👍
He is the walking dead. Miss the round table behind the scenes stuff.
Phil Collins cousin?
From the co-authors of The Fly II...
FRANK DARABONT, the name that TALKING DEAD will not speak....and host CHRIS HARDWICK will NEVER do a sit down interview like this with him.
SIKE01 hardwick is under contract by AMC. He can't just do that. AMC will drop him, and even if they don't, he has a great gig and doesn't want to screw it up. It sucks, but no one can do anything about it who is related to the show in any way.
like I posted, FRANK DARABONT, the name Talking Dead will never say...and the reason there is a Dead talk show to begin with
