This is so good. I always see these types of videos from Americans and they're great for ideas, but the cost here in Canada is usually double or even triple of their weekly budget. So it's great to see this kind of content from a Canadian!
Yes I found the same and there aren't a lot of Canadian content creators showing this so I thought I would. Glad you appreciate it! Thanks for being here.
Hello from Eastern Ontario! Thank you for your videos from a Canadian perspective. You did so well with your meals and it looks like many of your groceries items were Canadian. Well done!
That’s very important these days! I’m in the US but I’m disgusted by the current crap that we’re dealing with! Love Canada ❤🇨🇦 All these dishes look amazing!
@@janapinson8665 last night I talked to a friend in Ohio. She like you is disgusted and just at a loss for words. Thanks for the support. Hang in there. 💜
US here! Sorry for what my country is putting Canada and the whole world through! I have a hard time understanding how this came about and why people support all this insanity! Totally understand that you are sticking with Canadian products; I'd be doing the same. Hopefully people will start waking up to reality and come together to pull us out of this nightmare!
Here's an idea for when chicken legs are on sale. I started doing this when whole chickens got too pricey. Make whatever savory chicken meals you want. Instead of plating the chicken legs on the bone; cut the chicken off the bone before plating. Then save all the chicken leg bones + onion/carrot peels/ and make bone broth for chicken soup. Drain. There should be a bit of chicken meat still on the bones, too. Add veggies, rice, spices, or potato or pasta. Now you have used chicken legs for several different meals.♥️🇨🇦
onions, carrots and potatoes make me feel rich when i get them. Then add a head of cabbage i feel like a queen. lol. We are frozen in from deep snow. some say they should declare our county a state of emergency. snowing snowing snowing. i was out of milk. i made oatmilk. it will be good on cereal. hubby drinks it. we are soon to be out of margarine. i will see what i can make. mostly i dont use butter on our toast if we have peanut butter. i got tons of bread for 27 cents a loaf at walmart week before last. i have chicken wings cooking right now.we had cheese toast for breakfast today. we are gonna be 3 degrees in a day or so. no ones plowed our street till finally they did. we have not seen the mail man in a week. love your videos.
Oatmilk is so easy to make. It's very good on oatmeal and you can use the leftover fiber, just cook it with your oatmeal. It's okay alone too. Or added to breads, etc.
This was absolutely wonderful! I was so impressed with your shopping and cooking that I have subscribed. Thank you so much for sharing this video. Blessings from Ontario!
You are so clever with the way to use the same ingredients, but so many different ideas. I am in Australia and I loved cooking with legumes and lentils when my children were young. They are now in there late thirties, and back then, legumes and lentils were just starting to be used for meals. Trial and error back in the day, but they got fed and no complaints. I have a 19yo at home and every time I even mention them, he gives me the look of, I will eat dirt first. It is so funny. The age gap is so noticeable with everything that the stores have now. Love the way you present your videos as well. Been following since you started. You have become a great presenter. You would be great at teaching.
That is wonderful, good for you. It helps to teach the children diversity in food and keeps them open minded. Thank you so much. That means a lot. So glad to have you here.
Love the $3 meal ideas and the fact that you are in Canada and use food found in Canadian stores ( not Aldis or Trader Joes etc) However, I wish Food Basics had stores Canada wide. I did shop there when I lived in Ont and loved their prices, but I now live out of province and miss Food Basics.
Thank you for your time, love your videos, but your groceries are so expensive in Canada 🇨🇦 I thought we had it bad in England. These governments should be ashamed of themselves. Thank you again much love from Suffolk England 🏴
Thank you! Yes, it is getting so bad and is about to get worse here. Its unfortunate because a lot of people suffer because of it. Love England! Thank you for being here.
Yes! I've watched few videos of how to eat for a week for $20 or something but it was from the US and they were paying half or a third of what we pay for meat and milk! A question to the channel, I was surprised to see that you are shopping at Metro. I shop at No Frills because I find the prices better but Food Basics can be really cheap too, but maybe it's just where I live. Do you find Metro affordable? Also, do you have a Grocery Outlet store near you? They can be very helpful at times
Another great video! I thought for sure your stuff would be cheaper than ours here up north, but we've got carrots and onions for 1.88 at Giant Tiger, and potatoes at YIG are $3 - so $3 less! It's fun to compare. Not sure about the pricing on the legumes since in 2020/21 we panic purchased a lifetime supply! 🤣 Loved the patty and the loaf and the shepherd's pie - those will really help us use up our supply. I'd be tempted to put a couple eggs in the loaf to help it stick together. My girls aren't really laying right now, but I have a neighbour who still sells a dozen for $5. I can make eggbites with onions and frozen veg from the garden for $0.25 ea
Thank you so much. Ya there really isn't much of a difference sometimes. That's amazing! Lol yes, we stocked up a ton on that stuff also. An in egg in the loaf would be so good and definitely help. I love having chickens. We used to have some but unfortunately bylaw came around and we had to get rid of them (not allowed in town here) but they are the best. Love their personalities.
25 divided by 7 is over 3,50 a day leaning into 4 dollars a day. I think that could matter cause 50 cent or even shy of a dollar per day more could buy you just another ingredient if you shop daily

It's only for one person, but has decent leftovers. Would definitely have to be more for a family
