Weird thing is you can buy the LC300 GR triple locked in Japan home market for ~$60k USD. But not available in the US. I'd take that over the triple locked Bronco if it were the same price.

Thank you for the time/effort invested covering these Toyota SUV products. Toyota product planners BELIEVE they have created the optimized PROFITABLE lineup of vehicles for the global consumer market. By sharing a common architecture and many hidden/visible components, Toyota believes they have kept cost to manufacture as low as possible. The problem: Toyota/Lexus has setup a byzantine structure where a consumer of modest income cannot purchase a basic Toyota 4Runner 4x4 with locking differential, 3-4 nice media/comfort options for less than $50K USD (before dealer market adjustments/mandatory dealer add-ons). Toyota has created this Jenga puzzle (by design) that pushes you up the product ladder and makes BASE models less desirable. MAYBE it is time to open up the consumer auto market to the Chinese to introduce some competition and more options for consumers. The Japanese did so in the past and the Chinese may push legacy manufacturers to focus less of the top-end consumers where a $120K Land Cruiser now sits.
I explained it in the video. But basically to have info on the bottom and the cameras up top for off road. Also to have music up top too if needed or nav
Jon, Great review. Question about the hybrid system and redundancy. I watched the Car Care Nut’s video from 2 years ago. 30-min about the Tundra hybrid system. Supposedly same in Sequoia. He said Tundra//Seq doesn’t have alternator but HAS starter and regular battery so it can start truck if hybrid system doesn’t have juice. I am wondering because I was interested in getting a sequoia maybe but I got spooked after the Australian reviewer had a bricked Prado (USA Landcruiser). He drove through a puddle (NOT water fording but a shallow puddle) with high speed and splashed water into the air intake. Supposedly that is where the Prado/LC gets its air to cool the hybrid battery and any little water there shuts the battery recharge down. He got a 48V error message that cleared with restart. However, next day truck didn’t start and needed a flatbed. I believe Prado lacks BOTH alternator and starter. After watching the the Care Care Nut I thought maybe Sequoia would be ok and drivable even with a hybrid system failure. Also Care Care Nut showed that Tundra and Sequoia (??) gets the battery cooling air from inside the cabin unlike the Prado. Could you comment on this?
Not sure how that guy did that but that makes no sense to me. Air going into the engine doesn’t cool batteries at all. Something driven by the engine may. But our 250 series here in the USA have vents like the sequoia in the rear to vent out the hot air to keep them cool.
Thanks for responding. So your LC cools the hybrid battery with fans and vents in the cabin? Just like the Tundra shown in the Car Care Nut video? Do you remember if Sequoia did the same? Thanks again Keep up the great work!
Glad to see this one, but I am assured that I made a great decision with the GX. Too many similarities for a fraction of the price. Yes less lockers but who will actually takes these out!!? The rear shelf seems very high for many of our wives... I wonder if we'll be able to modify our GXs with this height adjusting suspension!
I have to guess that they wont, simply due to the costs involved in adding the additional components. I think the Lexus also has more sophisticated protection for it's hybrid battery so that customers of this expensive model have that extra peace of mind.
I would have liked to see them use a more squarish design and offer 2 engines. 1 V6 and the other a V8 to compete with the G Wagon selling at 130-140k.
Toyota should be making money hand over fist on these. The super cheap interior. The tiny wheels and tires that are tucked into the body. The plastic bumpers. The whole car just screams "we have buyers even though the competition is miles ahead."
@TRDJon Honestly, I really enjoy the rain, keeps things fresh, cleans the air and makes things grow, the "key" is to dress for it, otherwise it can get very uncomfortable. 👍 😊

There is a mile-wide opening for Nissan to aggressively market the Armada Pro4x and potentially add more off-road capability in the future like a front locker, disconnectable sway bar etc. It's got a twin turbo V6 with no hybrid, so you can make full use of the cargo space and its lighter. On the highway you'll likely get 600-700km of range if driving conservatively, compared to the 500km range of the Lexus with its tiny tank (the Armada has a 23 gallon/89 L tank). It's got up to 13" of clearance and a 30 degree approach angle as well. This compares to the 25 degree approach of the LX. Nissan is in effect giving us the Land Cruiser we all wanted. @ It's the screen layout and dash in general. I can't quite put my finger on it but it looks quite dated. Its due for at the least an interior redesign.
They basically tacked a 2022 infotainment screen on top of a 2014 infotainment screen and called it a day. Outdated from day 1, yikes. Usually it takes 4 or 5 years for these interiors to look outdated.
Zero zero zero interest in paying double an LC250 price for a "ReaL LaNd CrUiSeR" like this. Mechanically, offroad, what is this going to do that an LC250 does not? A front diff lock? Very few first owners go so hard they need a front diff lock. My rear diff lock only Toyota 4x4's have been getting me to ridiculous places for a very long time.
Fricken 18gal fuel tank, smh. I was interested in it because it looks better than the 600 (even the F-Sport), it should be quicker, and you could get no 3rd row (if they ever even ship any of those), but the 18gal tank is ridiculous.
I don't understand (1) why there is no EKDSS on this, (2) the underwhelming interior/weird screen layout that looks like it was an afterthought, (3) the TERRIBLE gas tank capacity (especially crazy considering other markets get a much larger tank).
Doesn’t need eKDSS, this suspension is much better. I have had both the GX550 and traded for the LX600. The layout is weird initially but once you get it you get it.
So I can’t get captains chairs for $120?!? The shelf SUCKS. Why can’t they just make it level?!? I know there’s a battery involved but I’d rather have a rear mounted spare TBH The “canyons” are a byproduct of the “mountains”
Overtrail, over the top, overdone and over priced. Quality build very likely. But since when did city streets and side roads to soccer, baseball and football fields need a vehicle with a triple locker? Plus the tires do not match the driveline. This is equivalent to putting all terrain tires on a Corvette C8. A total mismatch. I am a Toyota man through and through. Have owned eleven since I started to buy cars and drive them, like 650,000 km on a 2006 manual Corolla. But this vehicle makes no sense to me the way it is appointed and with the off road potential capability it has. And will never be used. The Ford Bronco Raptor with its high price tag looks the part it is engineered to perform. There is synergy. Form and function are one. The only thing this Lexus will inspire is high speeds on snowy slick roads by inexperienced drivers that will likely lead to traffic accidents because of the sense of invincibility they give the drivers. UA-cam, Instagram etc are littered with content on this. Superior vehicle inferior driver.
Got lost on the way to Starbucks with this one...

You think so? What part is the worst for you on it?
It needs the pano roof from the Capstone Sequoia but otherwise I like it… even with the shelf. Looked at a 600 in person and it’s beautiful.
It is downright ugly for the price.
Beauty of options for sure
Fricken 18gal fuel tank, smh. I was interested in it because it looks better than the 600 (even the F-Sport), it should be quicker, and you could get no 3rd row (if they ever even ship any of those), but the 18gal tank is ridiculous.
Yea that’s bad
@ I drove a BMW X5 M60i the other day, 23gal tank. WTF Toyota/Lexus.
120k? Yeah. Ok.
Yep!!! $$$$
Yeah. Not. Way to expensive
She $$$$$$
I don't understand (1) why there is no EKDSS on this, (2) the underwhelming interior/weird screen layout that looks like it was an afterthought, (3) the TERRIBLE gas tank capacity (especially crazy considering other markets get a much larger tank).
Yea the small tank sucks
Doesn’t need eKDSS, this suspension is much better. I have had both the GX550 and traded for the LX600. The layout is weird initially but once you get it you get it.
@@pnaku15 The parent vehicle of the LX (the LandCruiser 300 GR Sport) has EKDSS, so I am going to agree with Toyota that it is "better" to have it.
So I can’t get captains chairs for $120?!?
The shelf SUCKS. Why can’t they just make it level?!?
I know there’s a battery involved but I’d rather have a rear mounted spare TBH
The “canyons” are a byproduct of the “mountains”
Just leave the shelf down and it’s pretty permanent then. Regardless it would be the same height
They need as much rain as possible.
Just like eggs its to expensive
Toyota has definitely turned into GM circa 1995
Toyota needs a new front grill design ...all the models share the same look
That 33 inch looks soooo small on this car
This is what you should get next, not the new Tundra.
How the hell does a Chevy traverse have a more high tech dash than this?
Cuz they need tech since the vehicle is underwhelming
@@TRDJon sure buddy.
I don’t like it lol
Huge vehicle with tiny cargo space. What the hell are they thinking? I’d rather just lift a minivan and call it good.
Go it!
FYI: no American is buying this to go overlanding in. That might happen with owner 3 or 4. . .
Plenty are. Not sure if you’ve ever been to an overland expo. But the 570 was ample. This will be no different for those with $
Gx looks better 👍🏻
I mean, if the new 4Runner is $60k+….
