- Yusef Salaam, a member of the "Exonerated Five," was 15 years old when he was wrongfully convicted of rape of a jogger in Central Park in New York City in 1989. Salaam joins "CBS Mornings" to discuss his first run for office as he is on track to join the New York City Council.

This man, and the other members of the Exonerated Five, had a spiritual impact on me at the time when they were sent to prison. The story is far too lengthy to tell here, but I knew looking at them on TV, in that courtroom, they were not only innocent, but they were just children. I was a 40-something white woman with no connection to them what-so-ever, but that brief momentary view change my heart forever. To see him now as a mature and caring man working to right the wrongs of society is beyond wonderful. He remained always - and remains - in my prayers.
