Just like Tony Stewart can’t win the 500 but can win 3 championships. However it’s the exact opposite for Hamlin who can’t stop winning the 500 but not one championship
same with Jr.
Difference is, Busch can still run well even after changing teams, same with Jr for a while (concussions really did him in). Stewart couldn't hack it after leaving Gibbs, he wouldn't win 2011 in the Piston system. Also, Hamlin at this point is a lost cause. Daytona is at the palm of his hand, yet can't keep the consistency by the time NBC takes over

This will actually be Kyle Busch's 19th attempt to win the 500. Even though he qualified for the 2015 running, he was replaced by Matt Crafton because of injury.
However, I still have a feeling people are overhyping Busch because of his resurgence at RCR. Yes, he was strong in the first half of last year with 3 wins, but he struggled in the 2nd half and the hype died out.
Many hall of famers or future hall of famers haven't won this race. Mark Martin, Tony Stewart, Rusty Wallace, Martin Truex Jr just to name a few other than Kyle Busch. 😊

Kyle is one of the best to ever strap into a race car, has numerous accolades, is a 2 time champion, and yet has never won the Daytona 500. I hope he can win 1 before he retires.

I think the lack of practice and opportunity to trim the cars in and having the best teams and drivers prepare for the biggest races in the world at the track has made it more of a lottery race than a showcase of legends like it used to be. That and the total lack of respect and bone headed moves the field has resorted to doesn't help. Bring back Speedweeks and let these teams and drivers shine at the super bowl of stock car racing we can cut costs through the year. Let the sport shine in Daytona man.

I want to see KB win a 500, but something bugs me about this Dale Earnhardt parallel. Dale came into the 98 500 with 29 wins at Daytona and 7 wins at Dega. Add in Manny other competitive races and coming close several times in the 500, it was much more of a mystery that Dale had not won the 500. I think some thought he might be cursed at Daytona like a Lloyd Ruby or Michael Andretti at the Indy 500. Yet, KB has just 6 wins total between Daytona and Talladega. KB is not the 'restrictor plate' racer that Dale was, not even close.
Tony Stewart probably won more at Daytona than Kyle Busch.
Been a KB fan since the beginning of 2008 and will be until he retires. And I don't think it's a big deal it's just a race and he's won everything else. And this yr I would love to see it but unfortunately i won't see it. Because my 2 nd driver after Kyle is going to win it this year. It's Bubba's year.

it's even harder now with the 'air brake' spoiler. You're at the mercy of the car behind you to keep the bubble open because once someone gets out of line, it's like applying the brakes. the following car has way too much influence with the current package

Kyle Busch has admitted it himself. He's not a good superspeedway racer. Kyle has 3 wins at superspeedways, and all of them have been because the caution came out while he was leading. Otherwise, he'd never have won on superspeedways at all.
Nascar screwed him last year. I lost track of how many times they don't throw cautions for spins at the end if your out of the way. But this time they did for Suarez. 🐓🐓🐓 He can do it I hope so

This has been the FUNNIEST COMMENT SECTION ive been in a while. Some of you still hate kyle for 2008 and refuse to see past this. Some of you hate kyle for 2015 but regardless of the championship format he would still have 2 championships. The closest he got was when he was screwed by Dale Jr taking out Vickers. He was collateral damage. And he was dominant early.
Suarez also wrecked Kyle in a duel while leading last year. That race should’ve been won but someone was trigger happy with cautions.
He’s typically good in the 500, luck just hasn’t gone his way. I think that changes on Sunday tho.
With all of Kyle's talent, in similar vehicles, he can't cope. He has to have some edge to make it happen. What haunts you most of all at superspeedways is bad decisions. That's KB's biggest flaw- poor decision making. I don't doubt his pure speed, but it's everything else that makes him fall way short of the 'greatest' tier.
I used to hate Kyle Busch so much… Now he has got his way into my favorite drivers and I would LOVE to see him win!

It’s a lotto race that has no bearing on how your year will go, and little to no indication of how good a driver is anymore. Sure, in the 1990’s and before it was different.
85% of it is not getting wrecked. Then being fortunate to be near the front at the end. THEN have help from teammates or at least manufacturer teammates.

So not about this video, but watch the full speed doc, it just showed how useless the playoff structure is. I have watched nascar like once in blue moon mostly in the start when nothing else is on, but when f1 and Australia supercars is on i dont watch nascar anymore. And i feel like thats because the whole season feels worthless. There is no reward for a consistent drivers. And if you are the best driver but your trans or power steering decides to fail thats it you are done. I feel like this is why nascar will never be on the world stage. People from Australia and new Zealand is only watching because shane ia in XFINITY. And f1 fans only watched when kimi was driving. But anyway that is my rant over. Nascar could become bigger than just America if they just fix the why the championship works.
It took Dale Earnhardt Sr. a long time to win the 500. Love him or Hate him he will still go down as one of the greatness drivers in Nascar even if a Daytona 500 isn't on hes resume. So hopefully 2024 is the year Kyle Busch's finally wins the 500. I will be pulling and betting on him.

His teammate in the #3 car is just out there riding around and hasn't done much at all with one of the greatest numbers ever, 4 wins for Dillon, while Kyle had 4 wins at birth basically.
To the casual fan who only watches a couple of races per season what they probably don't understand is that there are so many things that can take you out that are totally out of your control. As this video clearly shows. Wrecks. Engines. Wrong place wrong time you name it. I do feel like he will get one before he retires though it may not be this year. Who knows?
