    The dexterity required to put one of these on by yourself without taking a shitload of your front end apart, was unbelievable. Make sure you have many lengths of Allen keys and all your fingers are working, you’ll be using all of them

    Technically the Stu Stu sound is turbo surge witch is very bad for your turbo but these new diverter valve spacer things confuse me because they make that sound but everything is plugged in and working properly.
    So I’m hoping that you have no issues and keep building up your Audi like I did to mine

    • @megalodononwheels
      @megalodononwheels  3 роки тому +5

      I was also very sceptical about it at first! When i did my Reaserch i also read up about Turbo Surge... I was Thinking that i shouldn't do it! 🤐 But Nosy me did it anyway 🤣 Before my 2.0T B8 Quattro i had the B8 1.8T which i did the BOV install and it was running in my car for about 3 years... It just keeps sounding better by the day 🤣 I haven't experienced any problems at all (Touch Wood) i think what happens is, the Diverter valve sensor that pushes back opens the bov and then with the amount of pressure being lost the diverter valve pushes out again closing the BOV until the pressure builds up again and the pushes the sensor open again... If that makes any sence 🤷 but yet again i could be wrong 🤐🤣

      Meanwhile in reality it's not bad at all, if you have a bypass valve and it's still fluttering it's not releasing enough pressure to stop it, it's not the valve itself making the noise.

    guys I'm just to nice to just let it go, I was looking for it because why? impress your friends, car guys and the most important... the girls 😁right? but it actually is not good for your turbo because a blowoff valve releases the pressure of the air that your turbo make to let more cold air into the engine but when you do this you just send it back to the turbo which is not good
    please do more research but I think it may be enough to make you guys think twice before doing this and don't take me wrong I love the sound and I want it too but I still prefer to have a turbo that actually works and don't spend more money on getting a new turbo just because of a sound, Hope it helped some one

      I saw your message the day you sent it. I decided to leave it and just see if you would get a response from somone 😊 well it is 4 months now haha. Sadly but no comments.
      So I basically mentioned this in my other comments on this post but the BOV does not make the Stu Stu Stu. All it does is it enhances the sound that is already there. The turbo's from factory makes that sound. The BOV that I have can blow air in the atmosphere, send it back into the system like stock or both. By doing the Intake alone it will enhance the turbo sound. Then the BOV is just that little bit more. You will see this in my older video where I made a video of installing a cone filter.
      But I am not saying you are wrong because you are not, the sound is revered to as turbo surge (correct me if I am wrong) and it is bad for the turbo. But that means it is badly designed from the start as all I did was just enhancing the sound if it makes sense.

      I Actually enjoy the comments 🤣🤐 i can talk about cars for hours and hours! 🤣
      Regarding the Catles downpipe... I was really disappointed in the results 🤦 i didn't get any sound enhancement really, i just noticed some additional increase in sound when i do the cold start and the DSG farts... Next to that it is horrible 🤦 because my car also has the oil consumption problem... It is spitting out oil from the exhaust... The poor wall behind my car is stained for life 🤣🤦 and when ever i floor the car it smokes worse than a diesel... Even have a smoke mark against my rear bumper 🤦 before i did the Downpipe i never even noticed smoke... So i think the catalyst did an extremely great work to hide it 👌 i would recommend to fix the oil problem first and then do a downpipe because it is hella imbarrising 👎🤦

      The B8 1.8T/2.0T is know for the piston rings that fails 🤦 you need a complete new aftermarket piston set to stop having that problem 👎 there is actually a overall kit on eBay thats works like a BOM that is extremely cheap. Comes with gaskets and etc 👌 my opinion, just get aftermarket rods and pistons like IE, Wosnner, PEC and a couple more... Because the Rods are the weakest part of the engine, they fail just over 300KW or 450HP
      Also if you haven't done a Stage 1 tune yet... You are missing out 😱 these cars gains a lot of power with a simple tune! They are held back a lot with performance!

I think if the BOV is fully open it blows to much boost out into the atmosphere and then the turbo needs to build up more boost when the gear was shifted up 👌

      Sorry for the Delayed response... Only got word back from about 3 guys just now... Unfortunately the B7 Can't accommodate a BOV... apparently it is because of the Turbo design... They did mention that if you install a induction kit such as a Cone filter your turbo Blow off sounds will be louder... So that will be like a mini BOV... The other route to go is to install a Dump valve your boost system, but that means you will need a titanium or aluminium pipe to be designed for your car where the Dump Valve could sit on and then re-routing of some vacuum pipes...
      So my advice is go for the full induction kit like my car, if your not happy then you can look at installing the Dump Valve :)

    • @megalodononwheels
      @megalodononwheels  3 роки тому

      No, it can work on all cars :) the car i installed it on is a 7 Speed DSG DL501 automatic gearbox... With a manual car it is easier to dump because you have the clutch to give some drivetrain slippages while you build up boost to dump... Where as with the Automatic you need to accelerate and let go of the throttle just before the car shifts or let go of the throttle when the boost is kicking in... :)

I do not like the sound 😕. the sound it gets from the my cold intake alone sounds much better, it gives it a woosh sound. the stututu sounds like something is wrong with the vehicle lol just sounds annoying and I don't ever hear any other performance car with the same sound from a BOV.

I like it for the change of sound but everyone has their own preference :) if you bought the adjustable BOV like me, you can just close the atmosphere ventilation holes and it will mske wooosh... And if you open it, it will do it's StuStu... So you can always change it as you want :) you can even do it half half where it blows into the atmosphere and recirculate... :)

    Is this harmfull to the turbos/engine?

    • @megalodononwheels
      @megalodononwheels  3 роки тому +1

      That Question... Is a very big Question 🤣
      Ok here we go... This is all my opinion and i stand to be corrected...
      I had the same setup on my 1.8T B8, i had the car for nearly 4 years if not almost 5 and did over 60 000km on it, so here is my thoughts around this entire subject.
      I believe it is not harmful... Why?
      Because without the BOV and with just a induction (cone filter) the car Flutters anyway, eventhough it is very soft.
      So if the car flutters without any enhancements just better air flow then it means that the turbo's normal conditions is to flutter.
      The BOV is a bolt on and still uses all the same sensors and ect as in normal conditions. As an example to this, there is ways to make turbo's flutter by blocking pipes and i would understand why something like that would damage a turbo.
      With a bov it flutters louder because it dumps the air in the atmosphere.
      I believe dumping the air in the atmosphere is better than to recirculate the air, as far as my understanding goes, when the turbo is still turning at higher speeds (recirculating) and you step fully on the gas again, the intake air will actually slow down the blade before speeding it up again, so by blowing the air into the atmosphere will slow the blades down in such a way that if the full throttle has to happen again the blade can speed up instead of slowing down and then speeding up again. (I read this in a forum, if anyone has more info please share)
      I also did a test, a few pulls on the road with the BOV closed and a few pulls with the BOV open. Honnest opinion, the car feels much more responsive with the BOV open. You will realise it immediately as your doing your first pull!
      I also never had a problem where my turbo started to boost less than the set point, it was always within good parameters.
      So next to turning heads there is one problem i have noticed... When i did a dyno pull the BOV actually opened as soon as the boost hit's it's maxed! But when i am on the road the BOV stays closed and you can see that with one of my latest Data logging videos where i did a boost test. Why it opened, i have absolutely no idea 🤷

  • @kuronekohenta8482
    @kuronekohenta8482 Рік тому

    Doesn't that sound mean that your having a boost surge? I mean. I drive a Mazdaspeed 3 a bit modified and i just block the piston of my BOV and... it started making this stututu sound. (Btw your car looks freaking good)

    • @megalodononwheels
      @megalodononwheels  Рік тому +1

      In short words... Yes 🤣
      I would only start to argue when people say the BOV is causing the surge 🤐 because out of my experience and knowledge our car (the A4) already surges from stock, you just can't hear it because everything supresses the noise. The BOV and the Cone filter just increases the noise that is already there... Stand for correction
      But thanks for the compliment... I wish I have done more to it by now but we bought a house not to long ago and it was left to us in such a bad state 🤕 so finances have been low 🤣...
      Also what have you done to your Car? I raced my friends MPS and he has stage 1 COBB, downpipe and intake I think... And the car put up a good race... My pull away was just a bit to much for him but his car was doing a great job 💪

      Hey man! Thanks for your opinion and you are right in some sense, even growing up my mother used to say buying cheap is buying expensive, meaning that something cheap will brake and you need to buy the cheap one again or buy the expensive one then but then you have already wasted the money, ooooor it will break something and will cost more to fix it... 👌 True.
      But I must say, my Previous Audi A4 B8 1.8T had the BOV in for 4 years and this 2.0T of mine has it in for maybe 2 years now. So far bo problems :) by all means if you do have the money thrn get the proper one 🥳 but this is just a chunk of metal, unlike the Diverter valve or sensors and etc that I would rather recommend to buy more epensive in that case 🙌

      Hey, i spoke to a person regarding a BOV for his B7 2.0TDI... he asked me the same question and unfortunately after some Reaserch and asking other TDI owners... It seems like the Turbo's of TDI's cant house the BOV... So your only option will be is to install a Induction kit like my Audi has... This will make the turbo Blow off louder... And then you can also install a Dump valve on the boost piping system to make the Blow off even louder...
      Hope this helps :)
