That’s the trade off though, I’m Black with SUPER curly hair and I don’t mind the sulfates due to the other nourishing ingredients in said shampoos and other hair products. I trust lush
rockwitu96 Yes! I’m on my way to pick up the Fairly Traded Honey shampoo. Although it contains SLS it has so many good ingredients. Plus, my hair is starting to get a bad build up and itchy scalp and these non sulfate shampoos just ain’t cutting it! 😩
Lush was the first "natural" brand I got into when I was about 17 years old (that's 9 years ago) but about a year into my "Lush obsession" I realized it was not as natural as I thought... What's with all that SLS and sulfates?? They have "fragrance" too sometimes... Best natural brand I've found is called "100 percent pure", I also love "Living Libations".
same here. it also isn't all handmade as they advertise. they have tons of machines for mixing and filling molds. they use tons of synthetic fragrance oils but choose to advertise the two drops of essential oils they put in products lol.
ASDasdSDize no hate but the "how it's made" lush videos show the machines. I didn't know about the oils though, thought some synthetics were good to use.
If there is foam there is a 99% chance there is SLS in there even if a shampoo says it’s sulphate free that is very rarely true but legally if it’s under a certain amount (I believe it’s like 15mg/ml but don’t hold me to that number) they can say it’s sulphate free lush actually could say their shampoos (particularly the liquid ones) are sulphate free but because Lush is totally transparent about their ingredients they put it on there also lush does have a totally sulphate free shampoo it doesn’t lather at all and it’s basically just coconuts also curly wurly is a potter one for curly hair that I believe is totally sulphate free and doesn’t really lather either and is also full of coconut and really nice on my curls
but the comment says its not "natural" but it is. they get it from palm oil. but I'm also not buying into the idea that natural is good and man made means bad so i guess its just what you're into
Melinda Elisa Tătar because it doesn’t foam and particularly in western society we have this idea that if we don’t see the foam it’s not cleaning our hair that’s why a lot of people complain like oh my hair isn’t really clean when actually it is same with the conditioner
There's a local farmers market every week where I live and I can get solid beauty products for way less!! I got a shampoo and conditioner bar for 7$!! And it's all locally made and sourced, which is even better for the environment.
The reason they put sulfates in the conditioner is because of how many heavy oils are in there so to make sure your hair doesn't look like a grease ball. it's not stripping your hair it's just taking off the excess oils that are in the conditioner itself
I had the same issue with the Avocado CoWash the first time I tried a sample. However, I decided to give it a second try because I LOVED the smell and needed something that was cleansing, but not too harsh. So, what I do now is get it wet, rub it on my hand, apply it to my scalp, scrub my scalp, then rinse it clean with cool water. With this method it is not greasy at all and it cleans just enough as it rinses down my hair. I must have used way too much the first few times I tried it. Just a tip for anyone interested in trying it.
i cant believe im just now finding your channel. I love your in depth booty reviews and glad to finally see a latina thriving in the beauty community ugh love u chica ❤️
I don't love the lush hair products, but their skincare fixed basically all of my skin problems. They have a cleanser that removed my acne in like a month. And I love the masks! Also the skincare line is more natural that the hair line.
I love the avocado cowash, I have naturally curly hair but I've also been bleaching my hair for 11 years so it tends to be dry. I use it by breaking a little chunk off and mushing it between my hands with water and massage it in my hair. Leaves it so soft!
Your vids are soooooo helpful, I’ve got an almost identical texture to your hair, and mine is also very fine as well so I’ve found whatever works for you usually works for me and it’s saved me so much time and money, you’re a curly guru god 😍😍
Lush list the ingredients from the most fo the less that the product contains. Godiva has a lot of sls is because it’s really concentrated. It’s good for 80-100 washes!! Lather the bubble in your palms instead of rubbing it to your hair directly because it’s very concentrated!! :)
I bought a lush shampoo bar to try it out without noticing the sulfates. My hair got so freaking dry, I hate it. I'd rather stick with my trusty black African soap.
Rachel Spang yeah! I just put the soap in some water for a day and it works really well. Penny explains it in one of her older videos. It makes my scalp feel so nice and clean. Black African soap is also known to heel psoriasis and basically skin conditions. It's antibacterial and a gentle cleanser, you can look it up for more information. Anyways it's a natural soap that works really well for me but it always depends, everyone is different.
I like Lush’s concept more than the products themselves. The only product I’m satisfied with so far is the Mask of Magnaminty (a non-abrasive exfoliant). The face products, bar toners and washes are REALLY oily, the conditioners don’t condition, and the circle shampoos are more drying and better for washing your body. 🌸
Lol, it’s so funny that you would upload this now cause I just spent like 7 hours, over the last couple of days, going through ALL of Lush’s products with a fine comb to find the very few that they have without nasty chemicals and with ingredients that are actually beneficial. I came up with about 40 “clean” ones out of their thousands and thousands of products. The brand as a whole is mostly based on clever, misleading marketing to trick you into thinking they’re a natural brand of “fresh” cosmetics but they do have some hidden gems in there. Anyways, always love seeing your videos!
Hey. I don't really have a list per se, just screenshots from the website with the ingredient list and I couldn't really find a way to share an entire album like that so I just made a video with all the screenshots so you can slow it down or pause it if you need to. It's on my channel. Most of the products are "clean" with the exception of the artificial fragrance that you can't really escape with this brand. Sorry the description and ingredients are in my language; all the product names are in English tho. Hope that helped :)
I had the same experience with lush. I got myself a skin conditioning product for my arms since I have really bad skin on my arm area. I got it hoping it would maybe do something positive obviously. I tried it and ON THE FIRST DAY of trying it, it made my skin worse. I regretted it so bad.
I enjoy your reviews so much my friend. "This smells like a college dorm. That's not good" LOL I'll never understand why lush uses so many sulfates! Even in their HAIR TREATMENTS! Why!?!?!!? I worked at a Lush years ago and at the time loved the treatments but knowing about sulfates now I can't bring myself to buy them. I like their skin care and body stuff a lot. :)
Thank you so much for this honest review. lush can be an amazing brand but sometimes the hype can make it seem better than what it is. Thank you again for letting us know your thoughts ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I legit used to love their seaweed shampoo bar...it did wonders for my wavy hair but after awhile it stretched them out. But Dream Cream is my tried and true favorite item from lush. I had awful eczema as a kid and was starting to build a immunity to my medicated lotions. Mom took me to lush and my skin started to calm down. So....yknow...maybe try it if you want
I love all your videos, especially the review videos. I was wondering if you could do a review on ACURE hair products. Specifically the Acure Mega Moisture Argan Oil & Pumpkin Shampoo/Conditioner. I really value your opinion on hair products and I’d really like to get your take on these before I go out and spend $20. Thank you for the quality content!
I have an idea. Why don't you try like random products and routine your fans recommend. Maybe I could be the first? co wash- Asiam coconut co wash Shampoo- Shea moisture hibiscus and coconut Conditioner- Garnier fructis curl nourish fortifying conditioner *wait about 5 minutes to rinse it out* Masque- Shea moisture deep treatment masque *waits 10 minutes until rinse out* Cream- devacurl styling cream *rake through hair* Gel- devacurl light defining gel *scrunch* *use microfiber towel* Here's the drying portion (weird and your neck might hurt alot) *air dry with your hair upside down under a ceiling fan* very random but i just want to see what happens
As an employee at Lush, we always tell customers that we make products as natural as we can, for some products it’s actually better to add a synthetic! As for ‘fragrance’ or ‘perfume’, these are what will be a natural occurrence from the oils inside the products. Personally I really enjoy using the Lush skin care and hair care products, but I understand if they’re not for everyone!
I don't have a problem with sulfates, in fact I need them because despite having super thick hair it is pin straight as well and all other sulfate or cleansing alternatives have left my hair greasy and with a waxy build up. I use Seanik and Big Solid Conditioner from Lush and they both leave my hair insanely soft without any residue which is key to make my hair last 5-7 days before washing again. I heard that they use the smallest amount of sulfate in Big Conditioner to help it rinse out easier instead of sticking to the hair and leaving build up. There are so many scares about sulfates but I believe it all comes down to your specific scalp and skin health and what you can or can't tolerate 🤷♀️
Every time I do a review on Lush I always mention the darn SLS, I have ask the company for years now if they will consider making one SLS shampoo bar? No dice.. so far
I'm a little late but the SLS is what makes the shampoo bars lather. if they took it out, people would complain about it not lathering and "not cleaning their hair." but yeah i think it would be nice if they at least made a couple of products without SLS so those who don't like it have a good sustainable option and the lathering soap lovers can still have their bubbles galore.
The very last product, queen bee, I got that as a gift from someone, but that was my immediate thought: this won't leave any hold. And I'm transitioning and it's hard to get my hair to curl at all so I need gel. So what I've been doing is that I don't use the product over my entire hair, I just use it to seal in the ends when I'm finished applying all other products.
You also used the conditioner bar different on how it should be used, it works best if you let you conditioner bar soak in some hot water and let it soften up, once it softens up for a couple minutes it leathers up immensely more that straight applying it to the hair. Also with the solid products come in bulk and can be customized to a size suitable for you liking. If you didn't like the coalface in a $15.00 bar you can ask for a size suitable for price. The queen bee you can apply it to almost dry hair to the ends for a more pleasant reasult as well. Also with all of the products there are containers but I usually like to put mine in a mason jar because it hold it well.
I just have to point out how grateful I am that even with makeup you use it for a week to see if it works cause after a few days or even an hour it changes
No kidding i have been watching you for last six months and today is the first time i realised its booty goowoo which means beauty guru. side note i used to think it was booty googoo Wednesday.
Ok I have wavy/curly hair when I scrunch it it looks good but when I try to keep my curls for a 2nd day without washing it they fall out kinda and look bleh how do I refresh my curls with making them fall out
Hey penny! I love your work, just found you about two months ago and I really love your genuine comedy. I have a hair question If you don’t mind, so I just started my natural hair journey about last month and as I’m taking care of it more I noticed the curls aren’t really curling, like the whole strand is going flat, is that normal?? Just wonder because I trust you 👌❤️ keep up your amazing work!
I personally use the Angel Hair shampoo bar and I have 2a/2b hair (just started transitioning). It contains a less harsh sulfate called Sodium Coco Sulfate and gives a more creamy "foam". I also have the coffee (dear John?) shampoo bar, but that was sadly only a father's day limited product. This one also contained the SCS. I noticed that these were less stripping and never gave me that squeaky feeling like the other lush shampoo bars sometimes did. So if you want to try a Lush shampoo bar I recommend the Angel Hair one (very soft creamy latter, more "moisturizing", gentler cleansing) or the Dear John (?) coffee shampoo bar if it becomes available again (more cleansing than Angel Hair but gentler than other lush bars, volumizing, very light latter). I switch between these depending on how oily my hair is, or how irritated my scalp is and when I need a deeper cleanse I use the Jason and the Argan Oil shampoo bar which contains SLS. A lot of the newer shampoo bars from Lush contain the SCS, so definitely look those up and see if they could work for you!
I have not tried their hair products but I have tried their facemasks and their bath bombs. My favorite face mask from Lush that i would highly recommend is either the chocolate cupdake one or the cup of coffee if you like the smell of coffee.
Penny please try the Sephora collection hair sleeping Masks, and the other Sephora collection skin care. I am interested in your opinion as I heard mixed reviews
yes they all contain sulfates. i was at lush so often and they always told me that they are in the making for sulfate free bars, but that never happened till today
Tbh I only like lush for their bath bombs and bubble bars. And only as a treat because they’re expensive. I’ve tried their shampoo bars and conditioners bars and they sucked. My curly hair wanted to kill me. I would never use their facial products. My skin is way too sensitive for all those sulfates and essential oils.
Their is sulfates in it to foam up. I can’t use the shampoo bars because my hair is really coarse and thick. But the skin care is amazing especially the cleansing balms if you have dehydrated skin
its time for... BOOTY GUWU WEDNESDAY! what else should i review?

I just have to point out how grateful I am that even with makeup you use it for a week to see if it works cause after a few days or even an hour it changes

My favourite Lush hair products are Jasmine and Henna Fluff-Eaze hair treatment, Dirty styling cream and Sunny Day spray

Is that an attack on Titan t_shirt?

the last thing you said is so true... they might be one of my favourite companies AS SOON as they stop using sulfates and that other crap...
Ok I have wavy/curly hair when I scrunch it it looks good but when I try to keep my curls for a 2nd day without washing it they fall out kinda and look bleh how do I refresh my curls with making them fall out
Same.
Your hair has this blueish tint to it and I love it!
It's just the lighting lol :3
@@PennyTovar oh😂 well it looks pretty
wth who knew saving the earth with soap ia so EXPENSIVE 🤦🏽♀️😩

It contains a less harsh sulfate called
Sodium Coco Sulfate and gives a more creamy "foam".
Fire bro, Latina gang 🔥🔥🔥
🤟🏽🇲🇽
I have reaaaally oily, pin-straight bob length hair... those shampoo and conditioner bars seem perfect for me tbh
“All these weird butters Oh mY gaW”
I have not tried their hair products but I have tried their facemasks and their bath bombs. My favorite face mask from Lush that i would highly recommend is either the chocolate cupdake one or the cup of coffee if you like the smell of coffee.
It is booty guru Wednesday my dudes ..... aHhHhhHh
Penny please try the Sephora collection hair sleeping Masks, and the other Sephora collection skin care. I am interested in your opinion as I heard mixed reviews
You should do a video where your husband does your hair routine on you
yes they all contain sulfates. i was at lush so often and they always told me that they are in the making for sulfate free bars, but that never happened till today
*Gollum has entered the chat*
2:55 THAT IS LITERALLY MY FAVORITE MEME AND WHEN I SAW IT I WAS LIKE AYYYYEEE
Tbh I only like lush for their bath bombs and bubble bars. And only as a treat because they’re expensive. I’ve tried their shampoo bars and conditioners bars and they sucked. My curly hair wanted to kill me. I would never use their facial products. My skin is way too sensitive for all those sulfates and essential oils.
Their is sulfates in it to foam up. I can’t use the shampoo bars because my hair is really coarse and thick. But the skin care is amazing especially the cleansing balms if you have dehydrated skin
Foribidden fruit
R&B from lush is my fave leave in ever, its hella spensive but I think it’s worth it 💸💸
I saw you in Brad Mondos video!
