Kinda crazy to think that one guy with a camera, a drone, and a laptop, makes my favourite hour of television every week. No big budgets, no crews, no producers. Just quality content... for years. Thanks for that, Martijn.

I appreciate the Sunday visits with Martijn so much. Eighty-eight years old and wish I could camp near the chickens and enjoy the view and God's Peace. Another beautiful episode in this project.

Awesome, the amount of work he gets through, seamlessly going from one job to the next and feeding himself well. That bread and cheese looked wonderful and the care he put into the pattern on the pie. Was it a pie? He can rest at night knowing he put in an honest day's work. You're a remarkable man, Martijn and the videos are my peaceful time. Thank you.
Hi Martijn. Recently I have moved into a big city. Even though my heart lies in the mountains, I am 22 years old and I have to study and work hard. Your videos give me so much peace that I so desperately need. The birds chirping and the views really bring back best of memories spent in the nature with my dad and motivate me to keep working - so that one day I can also end up somewhere deep in the forest, working in my garden. :) I appreciate your work greatly, and have been watching your videos in every spare second of my day. These really sooth my soul. Thank you!
The chickens clucking, the smile when the shower worked, the waterfall, the finished door, sweet birch sap, the garden is prepped, fresh bread from the oven, and the sounds of nature, all in one beautiful package. Thanks Martijn. From Mary in the USA, Tucson Arizona.
How one man can be an example of living in harmony with the surroundings and exuding peace and calm. Martijn is a role model for how we should respect our planet and each other more. The way Martijn takes time to do things properly and enjoys the journey is an inspiration.
Did anyone else think 'Oh no, it's not over already' when the music started halfway through? You're tricking us Martijn! The snow-capped mountains looked stunning. Ah, I do so love these videos.
The last shot of you sitting on the ledge of the mountain, it looked so mystical, like you are resting on its shoulder, being held by a giant. One is never truly alone in nature 🤍🍃
Smile at the finish of the shower and the peaceful rest at the cliff. We love this so much because this life is where our ancestors came from. Peace and love and Blessings to all.
What got me this morning watching, when you were standing beside that abandoned stone house and thinking, if you hadn't come along and made Italy your home, the place you restored would probably have ended in the same fate! Been watching you since day one!! Italy should be proud to have adopted you!!
Thanks to Martijn I too went for a walk outside my Sr. living community and low and behold I found a beautiful Waterfall and miles of nature trails I never new existed before in my area. It is one thing to live vicariously through another mans awesome vision and another to design a life of my own. Thank you Martijn for the years of inspiration. In a World of turmoil one mans creative interaction with Community, Nature and Old World Beauty gives mankind a Grand sense of Hope. I can't wait to see the beautiful creations that come out of the New Workshop.
As I watch Martijn work, I see myself reflected back to me. While I don’t have an interest of building a homestead in the alps for myself, I nevertheless watch him and think: can I gradually build a beautiful life for myself, piece by piece, like he is doing? Can I go from humble, uncomfortable beginnings to something that’s on it’s way to being wonderful? Can I meet challenges along the way with quiet, stoic confidence, like he does? Thanks Martijn, what you’re doing continues to inspire me.
My favourite part was the “going to town” section of the video! It was so calming! You are a master of videography, my friend! The vibes of your videos are immaculate, calm and down to earth in a way that is rarely recreated on UA-cam, but you manage to pull it off week after week like it’s easy!
I must admit after watching your build Sunday after Sunday, week after week, month after month I'm afraid I've taken the build for granted from time to time.....Then the camera focuses on a wall for a moment. It is then that I see each rock and all of the pointing that make it so beautiful and the amount of hard work that it took to make it so. What a sense of accomplishment you must feel ........Good on you Martijn. Good on you.
Truly a happy time in a happy place when I get to watch Martijn's videos. You are the best there is and I'm so impressed with everything that you do. Baking, building, being the special human being that makes you, you. Well done and thank you so much for making my weekend fabulous.
A perfect Monday morning breakfast show for me in New Zealand. I agree with all the positive things everyone has said, but was I the only one who missed the bubbling sound of coffee brewing. It so evocative I’m sure I can smell the coffee. I was also waiting for the boot polish to come out!!!!!!!
Happy Sunday to all. Another beautiful morning with Martijn! Spring is my favorite time of year with all the new green growth, trees starting to bud, flowers starting to bloom, and warmer temps. I experienced my first 4.8 earthquake on Friday morning in NY. Quake was in NJ. Scary! Nice distressing with Martijn this morning. Have a blessed week everyone! See you next Sunday.
I am 80 years old, I had a house out the city, where I spend the weekends making things, during 30 years, then I retire to another country to be near my son, daughter and gran children. But I 😅moved with my garage worshop and it is my hobby. I enjoy every week everything in your UA-cam site.
Again, gratitude. It just struck me how quickly that once-huge stack of wood against the outer wall has been used up. But what a joy to have the fire, and heat, and the oven! Every step is a pleasure.
Some time ago, I asked a local artist (Yakima, Washington, USA) to paint a large work (oil on canvas) of Martijn as he was walking down the hill toward the huts. It turned out to be an absolutely beautiful piece. If the artist will take the challenge again, I want another large oil on canvas from the scene taken at 49:42.. Martijn resting against the rock. If the artist takes the challenge, it will be an absolutely breathtaking work. I've sent him the screenshot image, will now see if he will take it on.... Wish me luck....!
When that scene appeared I had been sat in silence...like you do transfixed on the glorious scenery and just said " Cool "😎 then the drone panned out 😍💝 Some of the shots today were just 😍🥰. I loved the sscene at
Martin, thank you for your report. I've been watching you for a couple of years now and I understand that you bring to life the ideas of millions of people. Unfortunately, the realization of ideas for most of these millions remains a dream for obvious reasons. Today's issue is just wonderful. As my father used to say, the eyes are afraid - the hands do. And this wonderful oven, and all the other projects, both implemented and planned, are great! Retiring to the mountains is almost the limit of dreams. Sorry for the Google translation. A magnificent ending Martijn🙌 Words are absolutely unnecessary when you feel the impact of total peace and tranquility all the way to the depths of your Soul. You have definitely built your house on solid rock. Thank you so very much for sharing your Nirvana❤️
The shower works! A reason to smile! Many other reasons to smile: A wonderful door with a frame (what kind of hinges and lock!?) Potatoes on the ground, birch sap, birdsong and more.... Perfect spring joy.
Muchas gracias, y que disfrute los próximos días de sol, se vé espectacular el entorno, la naturaleza es majestuosa y exuberante. Un abrazo y disfrute del baño caliente; es un lujo.

Watching your videos is so immensely satisfying and breath taking. All that hard work, toiling through the long cold winter and snow to come out the other end, with a big warm bed and fire and fresh baking bread and pie, a hot running shower and the bird landing on the window sill singing in the spring, your close out view sitting in that magnificent landscape....Bravo Martijn! I was smiling all the way through this one.

Watching you makes me think about my great great grandfather who was a lighthouse keeper on the coast of Florida. They had immigrated from Sweden as my Grandmother was told. The other side of her grandparents were English sea navigators. They immigrated to the Bahamas and then to Key West Florida. My grandmother talked about the lonely existence of the lighthouse keeper but about what a great cook he was and planted beautiful gardens. Good evening from Sydney. Another perfect Sunday night. Love the new door and your happy chuckle turning on that beautiful shower. Thank you for your beautiful videos. They are so inspirational . Looking forward to the new building and the green house as I have been collecting windows for that very purpose.
The model for the workshop is wonderful! It blends in better with your home and the landscape. It will be more work, as you said, but it will be beautiful. You've captured the onset of Spring perfectly.
I hate it when your videos end. You take us to such an indescribable place. Your rendering of the workshop is incredible. You truly are an AMAZING MAN !
Martijn you have made a good life for yourself in a beautiful environment, surrounded by the things you obviously love, and it seems the most important thing to you is nature 😊
I recently entered my final year of my 6th decade of life! I'm still processing the gift of another year. God has blessed me richly, and I enjoy seeing your beautiful old homestead come back to life. Too many people feel like these later years won't be as wonderful as those before due to sickness, pain, less money, and whatever excuse they might give. I believe there is still much to learn and see. Thanks for taking us along your journey! I enjoy sharing your insights and watching the buildings progress! God bless your journey.
WOW , I DON'T KNOW FROM WHERE 2 START ... UR FILM MAKING SENSE IN ON NEXT LEVEL , VERY ARTISTIC... WHAT A NICE POTATOES FIELD... SO U CAN CUT UR OWN HAIR TOO, THAT THE LAST THING I CAN IMAGINE,HAHAHA...21:00 AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME... ONE SHOULD TAKE A SHOWER AFTER A HAIR CUT 😉😉🤣🤣😍😍...STAY BLESSED...
Yeah I guess that hair cut solved the problem one viewer requested for crowd funding to have him get a hair cut and shave the beard-at least the hair cut part! 🤩🤣
If you're building a stone workshop, it would be good to allocate an area/section within it to store potatoes/root veg etc. It'd be the perfect environment.
Hi Jen, brit here, we plant a second crop in August in very large containers which we move into a summerhouse after first first frost and they keep us going each winter
I adore watching how Martijn cooks and bakes to himself! It's really wonderful. After that I always feel myself hungry and go to my kitchen to eat something.
Exciting times although I'm not sure how you drag yourself away from the waterfall, river and the rocks. I think I would travel to Italy just to sit beside it. Beautiful work as always. You're a bit of a renaissance man, young Martijn.
Another fantastic video Martijn. You covered a huge range of self taught skills there. The arch door looks like it grew there in the stone archway. Take a bow fella. Keep them coming.
The arched door is beautiful. What makes it even better is the fact you choose to put in the extra work on a door that does not lead into your warm space. You are practical as well as artistic.
Have a wonderful evening, Martijin. It's still morning 🌄 here in Vermont, where we are all excited about the solar eclipse that will pass right over us at @ 3:30 pm. today .🌒🌗🌘 Lots of people traveling up from New York City, Boston, and Philadelphia to join us. Thank you for sharing your life with us. It has been inspirational for me.✨️
Sometimes I’m so focused on your task I don’t look up….your views while digging in the dirt were incredible, the mountains were spectacular and even the light off of the solar panels was a rich gold, beautiful filming.
I suppose there are a few of us seniors who appreciate the hard work, creativity, and excellent workmanship you do. Love the chickens (Lucy & Ethel- from the I Love Lucy fame😉). Please take care of yourself! ❤
Good morning Martijn and everyone. You reminded me that I can start planting some potatoes in early spring - thanks!. As long as the soil temperature is 5 degrees C (around 40 F), the plants will begin to grow.🪴 I hope you get two new chickens to replace the two who died. I was very sad when that dog killed one. 😥 I hope the owners of that dog apologized to you. Have a great week.
Your cinematic skills and refinement have elevated in this episode, Martjin. Loving the color palette of early spring and the framing of the mountains. Particularly during the potato planting segment. It's all very visually pleasing. Ty
When you get tired of Birch Water, put some to simmer in the oven for a few hours to reduce to a syrup. That is how Canadian Maple Syrup is made. For every 25 gallons of birch sap you'll make 1 quart/litre of birch syrup. This type of syrup is a low heat evaporation exercise as it does not boil at the high temps maple sap does. In fact, it cannot go any higher than 200 F. So, a slow simmer with a gentle boil is preferred. Also, birch syrup needs to be canned or processed into airtight containers with lids within 24 hrs of it being "lifted" from the tree. There are a few online resources to make your own "spile" (spigot). Try "turning for profit" that shows an easy spile project - it can also be made with simple carving tools.
Congratulations Martijn, going back to the start you said you wanted a fully self-contained home kitchen living room bedroom and shower. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the second cabin.
Just found these videos about a month ago and thought I was getting obsessed about watching all these renovations etc!! So glad I read the comments and found “ my friends “.😅
Aggghhhhhh! SO molte, molte bello! And a beautiful life you’ve literally built for yourself! That shower is so cool! The door on the shed, the little potato field, the birch sap, the expert of the pancake, and the beautiful baking once again! Thrilling! Bravo Martijn! 🙏🥰💃🏻

Good evening from Sydney. Another perfect Sunday night. Love the new door and your happy chuckle turning on that beautiful shower. Thank you for your beautiful videos. They are so inspirational . Looking forward to the new building and the green house as I have been collecting windows for that very purpose.
Great work on the copper shower. Greetings from Estonia 🇪🇪
copper is toxic, even through skin contact
The model for the workshop is wonderful! It blends in better with your home and the landscape. It will be more work, as you said, but it will be beautiful. You've captured the onset of Spring perfectly.
The old church/chapel ruin still looks very tempting Martijn !!
Ahh my Sunday fix... Watching and admiring Martijn creating a piece of heaven... ❤
I just get so into your videos, and puff, they're over. Your bread making skills are excellent! Thank you .
Chicken sound based hair cut videos will become for sure the next UA-cam hype. ;)
yeees finally .. Sunday routine with Martijn :)
The little birdie is back...❤
Bom dia a todos do Rio de Janeiro- Brasil.
THIS BREAD MAKES MY HUNGER OUT OF CONTROL , WHILE WE R FASTING NOW A DAYS ...ARCH DOOR LOOKS LIKE MADE A COUPLE OF HUNDERD YEARS BEFORE ... SHOWER LOOKS NICE ...SHOW HOW U CLEAN THE FIRE PLACE ...
The last scene on this episode was breathtaking! I really admire your work Martijn.
Wasn't it just ! 😍💝
Peaceful, beautiful videos filled with so much. Thanks Martijn ... wonderful, and I look forward to next Sunday. Wishing you a good week.
Piece of Mind! Your Life/ Property .Thank You!
Greetings from NZ 🇳🇿on Sunday evening ❤️
The arched door is beautiful. What makes it even better is the fact you choose to put in the extra work on a door that does not lead into your warm space. You are practical as well as artistic.
Coffetime, and Martjin time! ☕️ Quality time! 🇫🇮 👍
Have a wonderful evening, Martijin.
It's still morning 🌄 here in Vermont, where we are all excited about the solar eclipse that will pass right over us at @ 3:30 pm. today .🌒🌗🌘
Lots of people traveling up from New York City, Boston, and Philadelphia to join us.
Thank you for sharing your life with us.
It has been inspirational for me.✨️
Jeden Sonntag freue ich mich sehr auf dein video ❤zu sehen was du erschaffst ist Balsam für die Seele 😊
Se me permite, faço uso de suas palavras.
A few of us not so seniors too.😊
Watching your video together with my Dad..our favourite video & Good Nite from Sarawak, Borneo.
Don’t you just feel better after watching one of his videos?? Amazing.
Ik kijk al een hele tijd elke zondag. Geniet er enorm van. Groeten uit Friesland.
How this guy doesn’t have over a million subscribers is beyond me! Enjoy it every week.
Zoom out from rock ledge...why we come back every week. Copper piping..cause you know he will. Recipes to blow ya taste buds😅. Thanks Martijn 😊
Aggghhhhhh! SO molte, molte bello! And a beautiful life you’ve literally built for yourself! That shower is so cool! The door on the shed, the little potato field, the birch sap, the expert of the pancake, and the beautiful baking once again! Thrilling! Bravo Martijn! 🙏🥰💃🏻
21:00 ....beautiful looking swimming hole. Idyllic sitting/meditating spot
