Spent most of my week in hospital. Watching your video took some of the weight I was feeling away. It is easy to get wrapped up in our own drama and lose the peace that sustains us. Like many others I love the details, door hardware, the fire pit drawings, chickens begging (so cute). But my favorite thing of the week... Watching you and "the guys"on your walk around the neighborhood. and gathering in your cabin for food. The feeling of peace began to return some hope to my soul. Thank you Martijn. A while ago, i mentioned that the small section in front of the door could be a nice spot to build a sitting area to drink coffee in the morning. And probably adding an L shape guard rail to make it look nicer. I'm glad you are planning to do something similat. Is going to look real nice!

I've been watching an episode a night to catch up. Spring will be here again soon, i guess i'm a year behind, but i'm in no rush. This year on my farm I want some chickens and this week i'm building an outdoor work area to house a pole lathe + workbench. Bowls and spoons. :). Love your work. Cornwall. UK.
I like that Johannes and Martijn both go about their own way, when needed they connect and work together. And for the rest the friendship is not like they need to see each other every day. I think in times of need you can count on both man. Johannes is a more experienced man living in the mountains being Austrian. So i think it is wise for Mathijs and Ollie to listen to him when he explains things and also living longer in Italy and in that area so he is a good resource for help and info.
I’m amazed at the amount of research and physical and mental focus it has taken to bring this piece of property to life. The amount of work involved is staggering !!! lol. Makes one appreciate the dedication even more deeply. There will probably always be something else to add to the property as the vision grows..

I'm tellin ya. My life alone here in New Hampshire. Sometimes I feel alone. But I try to be creative. My current focus is Motorcycles. This is crazy because I am 70 years old. But always. Be creative. I have had a fire pit design on the books like yours for many years. But then I found a 20 inch piece of 15 inch round 3/8th inch pipe at the steel scrapyard ~ on stones. I've been in cities since I was 13, but never forgot the indescribable inner peace and serenity that being truly out in nature and knowing a piece of land gives. It's a shame so many city folk have no idea. In a few years when I'm 40 I'm planning to give up the rat race and semi retire and find the beauty in these videos again.
I wish the whole world could live like Martijn and Johannes do as neighbours. To think they both travelled the world so much and then end up in the same remote spot!

Was wondering if your parents will be visiting soon. I know the will be highly impressed with your homestead. So many improvements since their last visit. I will be planting an herb garden that i hope will be mole proof. Those buggers have really done damage to so many plants. I struggle with the rodents including groundhogs. So nice to see the trees leafing out, but it's still not too warm to use the indoor oven. And it did my heart good to see that the dog who comes to visit once in a while has a home. I will talk backwards. The fire pit looks so cool! I loved watching you host guests in your cabin. What a cook you are. Your yummy apple cake….surprised you took a inside piece. I claim the outside piece! It is so peaceful to see you doing small things around the property to improve it. It was fun to see you guys walking around looking at properties. I am in the hospital right now on the top floor. I have a floor to ceiling view. On my right is a small section of the Atlanta, Georgia skyline. Stunning. On the middle and left on the bottom is all green from the trees who have come alive for our pleasure. Their is an occasional house I see nestled in the trees. The rest is all sky which is always changing. Several days it was heavy dark with rain and winds. Now the sky is the perfect blue with floating clouds flying by. Your chickens follow you,Martijn, because you give them good gifts just like my God above gives good gifts. And even in suffering He is with me. Why would a woman of no account be put on the top floor with such a view to remind me He is with me. Have a good productive week. But don’t forget to go to the ledge from time to time. That is a spot of splendor. You are becoming a master builder. But on the ledge you can see the one who created all this beauty you are enjoying. I hold you in my heart.

Martijn, your stonework skills and woodworking skills are very good. The door you made for the utility area wasn’t easy but it looks perfect. I love how the chickens follow you around. Now that you have a comfortable home to live in with less urgent projects to complete, working outside this spring and summer will be more enjoyable. Love your videos and happy you found out where the dog lives.
I've been in cities since I was 13, but never forgot the indescribable inner peace and serenity that being truly out in nature and knowing a piece of land gives. It's a shame so many city folk have no idea. In a few years when I'm 40 I'm planning to give up the rat race and semi retire and find the beauty in these videos again.

Hello Martijn, I have spent about a month watching your 108 videos. Addictive. I must admit that all this time, admiring your courage, determination, creativity and resilience, made me developing some kind of envy, if not plain jealousy. I am 73 and, when I now review the small accomplishments of mine, I get amazed to what I could have done if I'd been bolder. I also find inspiring the way you connect with people, especially with Joannes and visitors. How I wish I could sit on your favourite rock and contemplate in awe this vast overlooking nature.

So nice to see the trees leafing out, but it's still not too warm to use the indoor oven. And it did my heart good to see that the dog who comes to visit once in a while has a home. I will talk backwards. The fire pit looks so cool! I loved watching you host guests in your cabin. What a cook you are. Your yummy apple cake….surprised you took a inside piece. I claim the outside piece! It is so peaceful to see you doing small things around the property to improve it. It was fun to see you guys walking around looking at properties. I am in the hospital right now on the top floor. I have a floor to ceiling view. On my right is a small section of the Atlanta, Georgia skyline. Stunning. On the middle and left on the bottom is all green from the trees who have come alive for our pleasure. Their is an occasional house I see nestled in the trees. The rest is all sky which is always changing. Several days it was heavy dark with rain and winds. Now the sky is the perfect blue with floating clouds flying by. Your chickens follow you,Martijn, because you give them good gifts just like my God above gives good gifts. And even in suffering He is with me. Why would a woman of no account be put on the top floor with such a view to remind me He is with me. Have a good productive week. But don’t forget to go to the ledge from time to time. That is a spot of splendor. You are becoming a master builder. But on the ledge you can see the one who created all this beauty you are enjoying. I hold you in my heart.
How lovely to see that Spring is on the way with the snow melting, the first new shoots of grass peeping through, the trees coming into bud after a long Winter and the little lizards out and about again and a new roof on your old kitchen area. I love your new chair, it looks very comfortable and the fire pit will fit into the surroundings very well and be a more permanent structure.
My two takeaways...that's a mighty fine looking chair, and the lizard running along the guttering (a great grab).
