Resveratrol: dosage and effect on cardiovascular health | David Sinclair

  • Over the past few decades, an abundance of scientific research has focused on resveratrol, a plant-based compound found in red grapes and peanuts. Much of this research has demonstrated that, at high doses, resveratrol exerts beneficial health effects - especially on the cardiovascular system - and has been shown to ameliorate the deleterious effects of an obesogenic diet in monkeys. Resveratrol is a "dirty molecule," however, known for its multiple cellular targets, so teasing out all the ramifications of its use has proven problematic. Furthermore, it is relatively unstable and demonstrates poor bioavailability in humans. In this clip, Dr. David Sinclair identifies some of the practical considerations of resveratrol supplementation and discusses his personal use of the compound.

    I started taking resveratrol six days ago today. Solgar’s 100 mg capsules - I take 4. An immediate boost in energy and a sense of general well-being was the result. More importantly the anxiety spells I used to get throughout night sleep stopped! But I developed cold-like symptoms, thickened saliva and sudden mucus which led to a horrible sore throat - that only just started going away today. (Others have mentioned the fact - but in my case it was really bad.)

    Just started taking it this week on Tuesday. I had pain in my left side. It came from my lumbar spine. I'm 75 so it will degenerate some causing pain on my left side. I do the physical therapy for that. Well I had some eye problems and the eye doctor suggested berries in my diet. On Tuesday the eye doctor suggested reveratrol. I'm a former marine so I'm obedient. I started taking it and you won't believe what has happened. The pain on my right side is gone. I mean I played ball with my grandson for a hour and no pain. I then got in the car and no pain when I sit down. No pain at night either. This was for my eyes and not my lumbar. In 3 months I go back to the eye doctor. I wonder what changes will occur then in my eyes. I hope there are no bad side affects.

    I am taking liposomal resveratrol. About 200 mg/day. But it is difficult to assess how this affects the bio-availability. There are so many questions. What kind of liposomes (research on liposomal CoQ10 revealed big differences in the various versions).
    Trans-resveratrol has very bad bio-availability bit Sinclair says that if you take it disolved in Olive Oil the availability becomes 5-10 times higher.
    Also: high disages of resveratrol could have adverse effects as it seems to be taxing on the liver (if I remember correctly). So I think resveratrol in a liposomal form could be a lot better, but who knows. It is more expensive.

    is this true that resveratrol having estrogenic effects on men ? I do not want to live longer without my mojo. some guys on reddit experiencing resveratrol as anti potent DHT even if they take 200mg per day , how the doc is coping up with 1mg per day

    • @alexforce9
      @alexforce9 3 роки тому +4

      Well the doc doesnt seems to be the most masculine dude around.. BUT my guess is it depends on how good is your body in dumping the estrongenic hormones out of the body. Thre is a balance right. You need more male sex hormones and some female ones in your body to work properly. So if you get more female ones outside of the body, the body will reduce your own production. Just like with testoterone. Its your liver that get rid of the hormones via that galdbladder secretion. So if your liver is fucked up its not gonna be as effective in destroying the estrogenic hormones, and if your galdbladder is fucked - then you are gonna have problem literaly disposing of them. Plus - depends on your diet. You need fiber to get rid of the bile (and all that shit in it). And all the diets that are high in resveratrol (wine for lunch and dinner and maybe afternoon) - the greeks, the italians, and the french - its a very high carb, high fat, but also high in spices and salads and vegies and low on sugars. + the quality protein. So keeping your youth for longer is a complex task even if you are using some cheat codes like suplements.

    First step to see supplements efficiency: learn how to eat what your body needs and what it was created for (i.e throw away simple carbs (refined wheat flour, glucose and fructose, ultra processed food), seed oils (like sunflower seed oil). Get complex carbs from dark green veggies (like kale, spinach, broccoli) and fiber from legumes (like black beans). Pay attention to your intestines bacteria and try not to kill them by taking antibiotics and other pharmaceuticals. Feed them with fiber instead and take probiotics if your microbiota is already damaged. Increase animal source proteins and don't just eat the muscles, but also some of the organs (heart, liver) that are rich in nutrients.

      ATP Labs is what I go with. The thing with supplements is the quality and regulation varies among each country. Canada is pretty strict with their process, and I have had very good results with their products.

    If it has poor bio-availablity then you can't take it orally because it won't make it into the blood.

      That would be zero bioavailability. And he literally said if u take it with fat the levels go up 5 fold in the bloodstream which eludes to the fact that even without fat it still makes it to the bloodstream. I’m just gonna take it up the rectum 🤣

    I need some help. The reservation that I am eating is trans -reservatrol, but the capsules are like reddish beige/brown. Is it not good then? Does this mean that the reservation has to be white?

      I believe it has gone bad. You need to find a reputable supplier, there are a lot of crooks out there. Some supplements dont even have the label ingredients in them.

    David, come back down under and stop being so sensitive about references to having a stash of resveratrol and saying "I'm not a drug dealer." we know you are scientific cause you dump a bit of powder into your yogurt.
