When the French broadcasters started chanting Larry Walker’s name after he hit yet another monster shot a few things occurred to me. I tested up reminiscing about and secondly we as baseball fans NEED to get this team back! Are you listening Rob Manfred?
Fantastic compilation, thanks for posting! So many great Big O moments captured here; Charlie Lea's no-hitter, Carter's HR against the Phillies in 1981 NLDS, Jerry White's HR against the Dodgers in the NLCS, a couple of walkoff HRs by Larry Walker, all 6 of Vlad's walkoff HRs, first career HRs for Fullmer, Mota and Rauch in first at-bats, Wallach setting the club RBI record, defensive gems by Casey Candaele, Carter's famous last at-bat, Floyd's HR off Maddux in '94, Grissom's walk-off inside the parker in '94, Lenny Webster's walkoff single, Lansing going deep, Pedro's 300th strikeout, cycles by Raines, Wilkerson and Vlad, a few triple plays, Bartolo Colon complete game, Rondell homering off the Big Unit, Vidro and Cabrera's comeback heroics in the 2002 home opener, and more. A few others that come to mind that weren't included were Curtis Pride's dramatic double against the Phillies in '93, Wil Cordero's walkoff double against the Phillies a few days later, and Cordero's game-winning single against the Braves in '94, but you got most of the big ones here. Thanks for the 18 or 19 minutes of great memories, even if the last minute was hard to re-live. Very well done.
@8:45 I was at that game with my brother. Pedro Martinez started for the Red Sox. He was pulled early because the Expos just rocked him. When Mota stepped to the plate, and the scoreboard showed all of the 0's on his stats line, the entire crowd got up and cheered him on. A base hit alone would have been awesome, but that home run was so unexpected, the place just popped! It was awesome.
Montreal was a leader in stolen bases. Valentine had a canon arm. We were robbed! The best baseball team ever was the team of the strike year. It was all young players they developed. I first saw them at Jarry Park
