    I fully switched from Sony to Fuji for all work... client and personal. I now know what the limitations of the Fujifilm system is and account for that when planning a shoot. Fuji bodies just really inspire me more to create, and I love that! Can't wait to see what's in your Fujifilm kit... definitely make a video on that

      I shoot fuji and have been tempted to switch back to sony for pro work just for the reliability in solo/run & gun situations BUT the new DJI FOCUS PRO is a game changer and Fuji is perfect to take advantage of that because the af is the only true drawback

    As a beginner not having a reliable camera like the Autofocus problem Fuji have with all their lineup, frustrates me. Fuji really brings back the fun into photography. I shoot all my client work with sony too for the same reasons. No BS, reliable and just a solid work tool. Downside being that at times it's just too good and doesn't spark much creative joy. The colour science and experience using fuji just makes the process fun again. Keen to see more fuji content!

    Can totally relate, I professionally shot on Canon, but I bought a Fujifilm X-T30 for traveling and for daily use, and I like how different is, its fun and the way that it handles feels more inmersive. Dont know if I will change fully to Fujifilm because I do love Canon too. Meanwhile great camera.

      Im a Fujiuser by myself. "Must have" Lenses for the Fuji-System which work all in their specific place are the following.
      Fujinon xf 16-55mm f2.8 (thats ur 24-70 FF Equivalent) Optimized for the 40 mp Sensor (XH2/XT5)
      Fujinon xf 50-140mm f2.8 (Equivalent to 70-200 FF) Optimized for the 40 mp Sensor (XH2/XT5)
      Viltrox 13mm f1.4 ur typical ultrawide with Great Sharpness
      Viltrox 27mm f1.2 one of the best Lenses for the x-Mount System, Sharp, lots of light nice Bokeh, and with a Equivalent of a 40mm FF ur "Always on" lense. its not that wide like a 35 mm and not that Zoomed like 50mm. Nice Range here!
      Viltrox 75mm f1.2 this lense is a gamechanger in terms of Portrait. Its a FF equivalent ~112mm (i use it like a 135mm FF) and boy, the sharpnes, the bokeh its mostly a FF look on an apsc to a rly afordable price.
      to be honest, the first 2 lenses are a bit more expensive, for the 16-55mm u can also use a Tamron 17-70mm, its also great with a bit more range. But this "trinity of viltrox" u pay less than for a average canon or sony lense ;)

    I’ve owned both Fuji and Sony but never the X-T5. Fuji X-T4 was the last Fuji I owned. Have several Sony bodies like the A1, A7RV, and now the compact C bodies like the A7CR and A7CII. All are great focusing cameras with a huge variety of quality lenses available to choose from, both small, and ultimate quality. Both are great systems but Sony’s now offer me what I want which has always been quality full frame. Thanks for your video. Love its aspect ratio. Take care.

    Had both an A7SIII and A7IV at launch, but wanted to swap the A7IV with the A7RV due to the build quality, performance limitations, and overheating issues I was running into... A7SIII was a great camera for video, but not an ideal hybrid camera. Buyer's remorse set in when the FX3 came out, though... ended up swapping everything to a 2-camera Fujifilm kit(X-H2s and X-H2) in end of 2022. So far, there is NOTHING that has come out since that has my eyes wandering especially at the price-points.

    • @cohoonatube
      @cohoonatube 3 місяці тому

      Curious what your AF experience has been on the X-H2 compared to the Sony? I’m in the same boat. Have an A7iv, but am looking at the A7RV or switching the whole family to Fuji. The X-H2 has everything I think I want and in a smaller package but the AF is the one area I’m concerned about. Thanks!

    • @GrayGhostDog1
      @GrayGhostDog1 3 місяці тому

      @@cohoonatube ... I think it is a lost cause trying to explain performance and handling experiences with any camera. Personally, I had quite a few specific criteria when I was choosing my cameras. AF was just a small part of it. I've been using cameras long enough that I do not need to rely heavily on a camer's AF performance.There were many other things I needed to also perform just as equally, if not better...
      I would say if the A7IV is working for you and what you are trying to get done, keep it! It's a fine piece of kit.

    • @cohoonatube
      @cohoonatube 3 місяці тому

      @@GrayGhostDog1 Appreciate your feedback thanks. I’ve also been using cameras since the 70’s, ran darkrooms for college $ etc., and AF is still a key component for most use-cases. Unless I’m bracketing or doing macro the less I have to think about AF the more I can focus on composition, etc. If the latest iteration of Fuji’s is close enough to what I’m getting on my A7iv I may switch my entire family to the X-System. The bizarre and erratic Z6ii AF performance is why I jumped to the Sony. The A7RV also meets all my needs… one of which is further reach in a smaller package (Crop Mode / 26mp). Fuji overall would be a better fit for the 8 of us in my fam, price-point, body choices (smaller hands), fun factor, image quality etc… plus all my kids use Finepix Bridge cameras at the moment so familiarity would also be there. I may just need to rent an X-H2.

    • @GrayGhostDog1
      @GrayGhostDog1 3 місяці тому +1

      @@cohoonatube … I think renting is a very good idea. If I recall, my X-H2/2s are pretty close in size to the A7IV.
      In my humble opinion, in order to have a hybrid camera that can cover most conditions you may have to buy a more expensive camera or choose the right camera to handle a specific situation… my present setup gets me pretty close without having to spend as much money. I have not done photography professionally since the ’90s, but I have always had cameras available over the years. For me and my use cases, Fujifilm’s AF performance is more than fine. I have noticed quite a few individuals say that they have AF issues with their cameras, but so far I don’t seem to be affected. I quickly tried out my X-H2 this morning before I had to run errands, testing on a very unwilling subject(my Bengal cat)… seems to be working fine for me, but I will continue to try out both X-H cameras under several conditions over the weekend.

    • @cohoonatube
      @cohoonatube 3 місяці тому +1

      @@GrayGhostDog1 Thanks! Not too many people that have used both the A7iv and the X-H2 out there... I've scoured the UA-camrs and various forums for feedback and examples... It would cost me ~$300 to rent the X-H2 and the lenses I'd want to try out... would rather just apply that to a real purchase lol. Thanks for taking the time to test it, truly appreciate it. I think the cost of me moving to the A7RV is about what I'll lose switching completely to Fuji (selling my E glass etc.).

    I got the A7RV and got the little brother A7CR at the same time as getting the sought after the X100VI. I keep trying to like the X100 (since the F, V and now VI), but I just can't justify keeping it since I can do everything with the Sonys. Trying out the interchangeable lens bodies though might change my mind. Re. your feeling about "mid day" pics with the Fuji having a "look" to them that you like, I anecdotally find that the Fuji cameras have a more pronounced "non-linear highlight roll off" compared to other brands (at least their APS-C ones, I haven't had experience with their medium format). This might be done with the intent to replicate/produce a more "film-like" look because as I understand it, many films behave that way (to varying extents).
    I haven't seen or heard anyone else mention it, and certainly haven't seen any scientific testing/charts showing this, but the "feeling I get with my eye" is it's almost like the the brighter each pixel gets, the "ISO" of that individual pixel drops ever so slightly (if this is true at all, I'm sure it's being done in software/firmware, and not the sensor itself adjusting at a hardware level).
    Ps. I also just recently watched your X2D video and found it offense (on your behalf) that the most thumbs-up comment on the video was criticizing you for talking about how slow the X2D was. For what it's worth, I really appreciate you talking about it, as the main purpose of me searching up X2D videos again was to try and determine "just how much slower" an X2D would be compared to Sony mirrorless, and if I would be able to live with it for portraiture.

I tested the 2 cameras against each other and after post process sharpening or noise reduction these days.. I'm not missing anything at all. The shooting experience has been a blast, I'm actually enjoying the film sims/recipes on Fuji weekly for quick content updates where I only shot RAW on Sony.. its a blast and its getting me out there way more often. The money I'm saving on full frame gear can translate into extra trips to further practice my photography. Its was win win.

      @mara1428 I also used to own the A7IV. From there I went to the XT5. The focusing of the XT5 was awful compared to the A7IV. I had trouble getting it to focus on my daughter from a distance of about 5 feet away. I loved the external design of the XT5, but it was not a good experience. I then looked closer at the reviews and realized that most of their pics were muddy and lacking in sharpness. And these are experts! I then went to the A7CII, which has been a dream. It's lighter than the XT5 and focus is amazing with the AI chip, which even the A7IV doesn't have. Fuji does have great colors, but I prefer a sharp image that I can adjust the colors of in post.

    Those who complain or against the switch to Fuji from brands like Sony or Canon are usually the ones that are less creative. Those that are too technical and are usually shooting brick walls or birds. They don’t see the value of Fuji. Don’t get me wrong - I also used top of the line bodies of Canon and Sony - but I always gravitate back to Fuji. Yep, not the best AF but it can still do the job. Have we became so spoiled that we can’t do our jobs and shoots without having insane AF? Using Fuji made me more one with my equipment. I know its quirks and the limitations too. But whenever I use Fuji, it makes me more creative. Yeah I know it’s not tangible but it really does. And that’s when I get better output with my work.

    It's not only the camera, it's also the lens ecosystem. And here, Fujifilm is also very far behind, with many old and outdated lenses, too often loud or noisy and slow AF (56/1.2 WR, 50/1.0). Only a few are up to date (18/23/33/1.4) or still 'as new' (80, 90). Not to mention the limited choice, nothing great for sports or wildlife.

    Hilarious. The Sony is TOO good. You got bored by the fact that the AF doesn't screw up intermittently, and force you to re-shoot things. 1st world problems, eh? You know, you could just put the A7RV into manual mode and just mess around with the settings that way, right? I find it ridiculous when people complain that a precision tool is so good that it does exactly what it's supposed to do, and they want one that doesn't. You know you you're really a spoiled b#$#$rd when that happens, right? :) Just messing with you. I will say this, however. If only the AF on the Fuji X-T5 was at least in the ballpark of the A7RV/A6700, I'd buy one in a New York minute. I really, really love the look of the Fuji photos, but I have a 6 month old daughter, and I need the pictures I'm taking of her to be focusing on her eyes. I can't afford to come home to find that some of the best shots of her that day missed, because she'll never be 6 months old again. That's why I'm probably going to be getting a used A7RIV, or maybe spring for the A7Cr, and a Sony 20-70mm or 20-105mm lens, and try to find some Fuji-like LUTs. Because I'll never get those shot opportunities back again.
