  • Just before I was going to shave, someone requested that I use the latest cartridge razor against a heavy beard growth using a traditional shave soap and brush. So I grabbed my Gillette Labs razor and one of my personal favorite shave soaps, Barbus and Semogue 830 boar brush instead of my straight razors which need some honing time. I finished it off with the match aftershave splash and balm.

Great shave Stephen! I can't remember the last time I used a cart. Been a while but it was one of those that vibrated 😅

I always repeat after you when you say "yogurt anyone" it's like a catchphrase haha
I have the gillette labs razor as well but the damn cartridges are so expensive
Cant wait to see your upcoming honing video my friend! You know me that's my favorite way to shave hehe

Thanks Sean. Oh yes I know how you like to shave and I also know that your all time favorite stone to hone with and for good reason is the Belgium Coticule and you really love using the "dillicot method" which is easy and produces a high quality edge. Yes Gillette Labs Cartridges are the most expensive you can get period. The Skinguard and Gillette Fusion cartridges are no where near as expensive as the Gillette labs are.

@ for me the coticule edge just makes such a nice comfortable edge that it’s hard to beat for every day shaving. I might need to try the fusion

    Merry Christmas!
I bought a Gillette skin guard when it first came out years ago. I have been DE shaving since about 2012 but I use that if I travel (I did use an electric for about a year recently due to time constraints). Anyways, I have 23 shaves on one blade on the skinguard and it’s still going strong. I just dry it on a towels the way you do and put it up when I’m finished

Thanks John and Merry Christmas to you as well. That's about what I use to get out of a Skinguard now I'm doing good to get 12. They took a step in the right direction on that one.

I shave 6 days a week. Sometimes I wonder if blades last longer when you shave very short stubble compared to several days growth?
