Grillby, Snowdin’s fire monster, wipes the counter of his bar absentmindedly. Later into the night, a small fizzing sounds from a corner of the restaurant, followed by a flash of blue. “Heya Grillbz...” It was Sans the skeleton. “...back again?” Grillby inquired. “Yeah...” Sans sits at his usual stool, which at this point might as well have his name engraved in it. Grillby gets to work on Sans’ order, his movements practiced and precise. He has done this a million times in his long life, although he somewhat wishes he hadn’t. Sans was known to hang around the restaurant, named after the fire elemental monster himself, Grillby’s. People knew of his habit of drinking ketchup, but never chastised him of it. After all, it’s nonalcoholic, right? What people didn’t know, was that late at night, when everyone was asleep, when the shops closed, when silence filled the Underground that they were trapped in, Sans would read his younger brother his bedtime story about the fluffy bunny then, using powers that very few knew he had, he’d teleport his way into Grillby’s. This had become a habit after he’d done it a few times, but Grillby never blamed it on him. Even through the restaurant was closed, he allowed Sans to stay. Grillby would fix him up a special order. The same bottle of ketchup Sans drank daily, mixed with a concoction of monster alcohol and magic. Sans nodded in thanks and got right to chugging it down. After a few, he had been more than buzzed, and got right to pouring his sorrows out to Grillby. He spoke of *RESETS* and murder. He spoke of blossoming friendships, only to be torn down ‘when they reseted’. He weeped over the loss of his brother and then the relief he’d felt when he was ‘back’. Sans’ fist clenched on the bottle of ketchup as he told of how no one remembers but him. Grillby hadn’t the faintest clue of what Sans would talk about when he visited, but listened anyways. The *RESETS* made him forget, but Grillby himself didn’t know that. His mind would be wiped clean and the days would repeat, over and over and *over* ! Sans could only hold on to the little hope he had, and pray that the kid would do a pacifist run. A run where not a single innocent soul would be hurt. A run where he’d get to see the sun, enjoy in for however long the brat would let him, then be hurtled back in time with only the memories. It was hard to enjoy it with the dread of ‘what comes next’ hanging over his head. So Sans closed to forget it. He’d drink it away. He’d spill his nonexistent heart out to Grillby, then return home. When he did get home, he’d be as tired as monsterly possible, napping every second of every day. He was soon dubbed ‘lazy’ by everyone and he had to accept it. There wasn’t anything he could do about, anything really. He stopped caring about himself, using humor as a coping mechanism. The only thing keeping him at least a little stable, was his brother Papyrus. He’d hold on for him, if anything. “W-well Grillzzz...” Sans slurred after his seventh or with bottle. “... Goodnight Sans...” Grillby said in his soft voice, his flames crackling. And with that, Sans teleported to his room. The artificial sunlight of the Underground shone through his window as he closed the blinds. The room was dark again... Sans proceeded to collapse on his bed, completely exhausted. Sans had forgotten about his worries for once, due to the alcohol coursing through his bones and, fell asleep promptly. (Idea from another comment under this video)
edit: man this is fucking cringe but ok Everyone thinks that Grillby is the only one Sans tells about the resets but that wouldn't make sense. The pure reason Sans hides the fact that nothing matters is because he wants to keep others happy. The reason he spends all day at the bar is because he tells everyone jokes as well as having a part time job at the MTT Resort as a comedian. It wouldn't make sense for Sans to tell only Grillby because he wants everyone to still have hope. He's suffering on the inside but he wants others to have a good time. He hides the fact that he's depressed so that others won't worry about him. When he takes you to MTT Restaurant, he tries to get you to stay in the underground because if you finish the 'game', you can try other 'routes'. However, he still counts you as a friend. In the genocide run, he says, " if we're really friends, you won't come back." This means even when you've murdered his brother, one of his only reason to keep living, he still counts you as a friend. Don't do the genocide route guys.
I can not even imagine me doing it i love this game and all of the characters in it. this game made me be me... after all of this i just hope there will be no reset... I don't want to watch my friends and family die over and over again...
I couldn't bring myself to do it... I love the monsters too much. I did do a genocide route, but I only went to the halfway mark in Sans' battle because I still wanted to be his friend...

I can't say I haven't tried to do genocide before. There was one time when I got the CLOSEST to beating genocide. I was at Judgement Hall, and was trying to beat Sans. He somehow beat me every single time. Everytime I fought him, I felt like... "God, I hate this fight!" But, now that I think about it, I feel like Sans wasn't just a character. He was... a skeleton who cared for the people in his life. His friends. His joke lover behind the door. His own brother. He wanted to stop me for what I did, and who was I to try and kill him for doing that? I've done pacifist so many times before... I felt like I wanted a change... I thought it would be fun. But it sickens me how I thought it would be FUN. So I reset. Some times after that, I tried genocide again, but quit at Undyne the Undying and maybe even because I was bored. Genocide is something that you can do but don't have to.
....i've said for years....YEARS....if the ability to go into the world of video games becomes real and you can meet them, I've said things like "Go become a Pokemon Trainer" or "Go with Samus to kill the bad guys." not anymore. If I ever get the chance, I'll go to the World of Undertale....and ask for Sans to forgive the people who ruined their games with Genocide playthroughs. If he killed me, I'd be hurt since I've not done the Genocide route, but I'd understand. If he forgave me, i'd hug that pile of bones right then and then. :'(
realafan888 Considering determination may not be something humans possess I think Sans would realize how weak you'd be and he'd show mercy. He's quite chill when he wants to be.

I just came back to this song after a few years and am almost tearing up from the nostalgia. So many things have happened since I first listened to this song. I’ve come full circle.
Of all the arrangements out there, this is the one I like most and I can't stop listening to it again and again. It doesn't just reflect the original experience from the game but also brings something personal to the table.
so here's me theory on why its called, "its raining somewhere else".. MTT resort is above the music box statue in waterfall, and the water fountain in the lobby of MTT resort, its going over the edge, onto the carpet, and it LEAKS THROUGH OVER THE STATUE, which is the reason it "RAINS" on the statue and on nothing else in the area. hence, "its raining somewhere else"

I still, to this day, haven’t reset after my first play through, which was true pacifist. I was happy seeing how everyone was happy. I played that save about six years ago, when I was a kid. I’m never gonna reset it.
So I was basically listening to this, just me, alone in my room, and the windows were open and I was just staring outside listening to this song. In the middle of the night, and I couldn't sleep. And it just hits me you know? Got all sentimental, it's a powerful thing. This is an amazing cover. Absolutely divine. I just sat there, rethinking, just trying to remember when I took a break to step back and breathe for a moment. This was wonderful. Absolutely loved it 💕 (also love how you added that extra sans theme in there. Totes didn't expect that.)

This is a joyful yet very saddening sounding song. I don't know how to describe it, its unlike other songs simply because of how well made it is and the backstory of it, it creates an atmosphere unlike any other. Props to ChrystalChemeleon.
If the song were to continue being sad and just generally melancholic until 0:43, I would honestly have assumed that this image was showing how it would have been if you did the genocide route. With some few changes like... Frisk/Chara killed everyone and ended up giving up whilst fighting Sans and somehow lost their ability to reset (maybe Sans Determination became greater than theirs). You never kill Grillby and for all we know he could even be stronger than Sans. This would be the aftermath after Sans finally realizes that it's over, him and Grillby being the only ones in the destroyed areas of the Underground.
You know, they could just leave the destroyed areas of the Underground and just visit Asgore. Perhaps Flowey might bring time back to before the human with the human gone.

Grillby, Snowdin’s fire monster, wipes the counter of his bar absentmindedly. Later into the night, a small fizzing sounds from a corner of the restaurant, followed by a flash of blue.
“Heya Grillbz...” It was Sans the skeleton.
“...back again?” Grillby inquired.
“Yeah...”
Sans sits at his usual stool, which at this point might as well have his name engraved in it. Grillby gets to work on Sans’ order, his movements practiced and precise. He has done this a million times in his long life, although he somewhat wishes he hadn’t.
Sans was known to hang around the restaurant, named after the fire elemental monster himself, Grillby’s. People knew of his habit of drinking ketchup, but never chastised him of it. After all, it’s nonalcoholic, right? What people didn’t know, was that late at night, when everyone was asleep, when the shops closed, when silence filled the Underground that they were trapped in, Sans would read his younger brother his bedtime story about the fluffy bunny then, using powers that very few knew he had, he’d teleport his way into Grillby’s. This had become a habit after he’d done it a few times, but Grillby never blamed it on him. Even through the restaurant was closed, he allowed Sans to stay. Grillby would fix him up a special order. The same bottle of ketchup Sans drank daily, mixed with a concoction of monster alcohol and magic. Sans nodded in thanks and got right to chugging it down. After a few, he had been more than buzzed, and got right to pouring his sorrows out to Grillby.
He spoke of *RESETS* and murder. He spoke of blossoming friendships, only to be torn down ‘when they reseted’. He weeped over the loss of his brother and then the relief he’d felt when he was ‘back’. Sans’ fist clenched on the bottle of ketchup as he told of how no one remembers but him. Grillby hadn’t the faintest clue of what Sans would talk about when he visited, but listened anyways. The *RESETS* made him forget, but Grillby himself didn’t know that. His mind would be wiped clean and the days would repeat, over and over and *over* ! Sans could only hold on to the little hope he had, and pray that the kid would do a pacifist run. A run where not a single innocent soul would be hurt. A run where he’d get to see the sun, enjoy in for however long the brat would let him, then be hurtled back in time with only the memories. It was hard to enjoy it with the dread of ‘what comes next’ hanging over his head.
So Sans closed to forget it. He’d drink it away. He’d spill his nonexistent heart out to Grillby, then return home. When he did get home, he’d be as tired as monsterly possible, napping every second of every day. He was soon dubbed ‘lazy’ by everyone and he had to accept it. There wasn’t anything he could do about, anything really. He stopped caring about himself, using humor as a coping mechanism. The only thing keeping him at least a little stable, was his brother Papyrus. He’d hold on for him, if anything.
“W-well Grillzzz...” Sans slurred after his seventh or with bottle.
“... Goodnight Sans...” Grillby said in his soft voice, his flames crackling.
And with that, Sans teleported to his room. The artificial sunlight of the Underground shone through his window as he closed the blinds. The room was dark again...
Sans proceeded to collapse on his bed, completely exhausted. Sans had forgotten about his worries for once, due to the alcohol coursing through his bones and, fell asleep promptly.

Everyone thinks that Grillby is the only one Sans tells about the resets but that wouldn't make sense. The pure reason Sans hides the fact that nothing matters is because he wants to keep others happy. The reason he spends all day at the bar is because he tells everyone jokes as well as having a part time job at the MTT Resort as a comedian. It wouldn't make sense for Sans to tell only Grillby because he wants everyone to still have hope. He's suffering on the inside but he wants others to have a good time. He hides the fact that he's depressed so that others won't worry about him. When he takes you to MTT Restaurant, he tries to get you to stay in the underground because if you finish the 'game', you can try other 'routes'. However, he still counts you as a friend. In the genocide run, he says, " if we're really friends, you won't come back." This means even when you've murdered his brother, one of his only reason to keep living, he still counts you as a friend. Don't do the genocide route guys.

I can't say I haven't tried to do genocide before.
There was one time when I got the CLOSEST to beating genocide.
I was at Judgement Hall, and was trying to beat Sans.
He somehow beat me every single time.
Everytime I fought him, I felt like... "God, I hate this fight!"
But, now that I think about it, I feel like Sans wasn't just a character. He was... a skeleton who cared for the people in his life. His friends. His joke lover behind the door.
His own brother.
He wanted to stop me for what I did, and who was I to try and kill him for doing that?
I've done pacifist so many times before...
I felt like I wanted a change...
I thought it would be fun.
But it sickens me how I thought it would be FUN.
So I reset.
Some times after that, I tried genocide again, but quit at Undyne the Undying and maybe even because I was bored.
Genocide is something that you can do but don't have to.

....i've said for years....YEARS....if the ability to go into the world of video games becomes real and you can meet them, I've said things like "Go become a Pokemon Trainer" or "Go with Samus to kill the bad guys."
not anymore. If I ever get the chance, I'll go to the World of Undertale....and ask for Sans to forgive the people who ruined their games with Genocide playthroughs. If he killed me, I'd be hurt since I've not done the Genocide route, but I'd understand. If he forgave me, i'd hug that pile of bones right then and then. :'(
realafan888 Considering determination may not be something humans possess I think Sans would realize how weak you'd be and he'd show mercy. He's quite chill when he wants to be.

Of all the arrangements out there, this is the one I like most and I can't stop listening to it again and again. It doesn't just reflect the original experience from the game but also brings something personal to the table.
so here's me theory on why its called, "its raining somewhere else"..
MTT resort is above the music box statue in waterfall, and the water fountain in the lobby of MTT resort, its going over the edge, onto the carpet, and it LEAKS THROUGH OVER THE STATUE, which is the reason it "RAINS" on the statue and on nothing else in the area. hence, "its raining somewhere else"
The arrangement, the image, and the song all fit so well together. Very well done, good job.

I still, to this day, haven’t reset after my first play through, which was true pacifist. I was happy seeing how everyone was happy. I played that save about six years ago, when I was a kid. I’m never gonna reset it.
So I was basically listening to this, just me, alone in my room, and the windows were open and I was just staring outside listening to this song. In the middle of the night, and I couldn't sleep.
And it just hits me you know? Got all sentimental, it's a powerful thing. This is an amazing cover. Absolutely divine. I just sat there, rethinking, just trying to remember when I took a break to step back and breathe for a moment.

If the song were to continue being sad and just generally melancholic until 0:43, I would honestly have assumed that this image was showing how it would have been if you did the genocide route.
With some few changes like...
Frisk/Chara killed everyone and ended up giving up whilst fighting Sans and somehow lost their ability to reset (maybe Sans Determination became greater than theirs). You never kill Grillby and for all we know he could even be stronger than Sans.
This would be the aftermath after Sans finally realizes that it's over, him and Grillby being the only ones in the destroyed areas of the Underground.
You know, they could just leave the destroyed areas of the Underground and just visit Asgore. Perhaps Flowey might bring time back to before the human with the human gone.
