    Cracking fly, Davie. Just starting my journey getting to know these different flies for the reservoirs of mid-Wales. Can’t wait to give it a go. 👍

    Hi Dave, I am writing to tell you that some time ago I bought some deer hair dyed a lovely shade of purple from the Fly-tying Boutique with which I am going to tie the GT with a muddler head. I am going to give samples in 10's and 8's to the gillies in South Uist to try out for ST and salmon. I will try and report back in October. Hope all is well with you. D

    hi davie
    just come back and looked at this fly. i've been working with peacock a fair bit lately and am going to try a blue zulu with some of the smaller blues. think it could be quite effective.

      Hi +robin watts,
      This will work really well I'm sure and the Blue Zulu is one of my favourite loch flies. I've tyed a variant of the Butcher which does work really well for Seatrout, Trout and even Salmon...It's a great feather to use on traditional flies...
      All the very best Davie

    Hi Davie,
    Have noticed in a few of your videos that a "cock-hackle" is tied in by the stub end, & when you tye in the "hen-hackle" you tye in by the tip of the feather!
    Please , is there any significance to your doing this?
    Love your work,I`m getting there! I think. "Woody"

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  10 років тому

      Hi Woody,
      I tie the hackles in like you said but I'll also tye the cock hackles in by the tips depending on the thickness of the stems and the quality of the fibres, if you look through most of the videos you'll see me doing this..It's just working with the quality of the capes I can find which as you may know can vary a lot...
      All the very best Davie

    Hi Davie,Do you think I can use blue cock pheasant neck feathers for the Davie's Toe and Goat's Toe flies? I don't have a peacock neck. Thanks for all your videos.Merry Christmas!Mark

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  9 років тому

      Hi Mark,
      Yes use what feathers you have as it's a good pattern and worth tying variants of, but if you can find some peacock neck then give them a go..
      Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you too...
      All the very best Davie
