I feel bad for The Onion. They try really hard to make hilarious satire, but it’s getting harder and harder for them to make shit up that isn’t as stupid as reality.
Don’t you mean “it’s getting harder and harder for them to make shit up that is more stupid than reality”? Maybe it was them parodying themselves, or maybe it was The Babylon Bee, but I’m sure I saw a parody headline that said The Onion has quit because they literally cannot parody reality anymore haha
Literally Unbelievable was great, it may still be around - it's a catalog of people reacting to Onion stories assuming they're real.

Rags is 100% right about "lowering standards" & how this is Star Wars all over again - The Fallout series isn't the most horrible thing ever made, but if people are letting writers get away with this many flaws then I have zero hope or care for the franchise going forwards because I know it's never going to be pushed to improve itself, and will likely only get worse from here on.
Exactly!
Yup!!
Agreed
The number of things Mauler rattled off about the Fallout show on Open Bar spoke volumes.
One of the telling things was Todd stopped the writers of the show from nuking the ncr until they talked him into it.
That’s a pretty big change if that doesn’t go through had Todd kept to his instincts

The events of Fallout 1 would have prevented most of the show's plot from happening
Unfortunately no one can be fucked to play it, which is sad because I love it.
The events of 1 & 2 would have mostly stopped 3 from happening also but hey ho Bethesda gonna Bethesda.
@@pbradics3670I personally prefer Vegas for story but god damn you make me want to load Fallout back up.
If the fallout show allows certain things to happen because “hey it’s like the game” then I want to see someone bunnyhopping over a mountain instead of going around. It’s either a grounded story within the fallout world or it’s a game satire. Pick one.
Well the show was neither so
Another Fallout plot hole, how is it that Hank and Betty don’t know the overseer of vault 32 when we later learn all overseers are from 31 and stay in contact with 31.
There's a three year trade that happens between the Vaults 31, 32, and 33. Even with the supposed food disaster of Vault 32, people from Vault 33 WOULD know people from Vault 32. There's no way they wouldn't spot the replacement raiders.
Plus, given the amount of data and testing they showed Lucy going through that they would have an extensive dosier on her husband to be. Which would at least have a physical description and probably a photographer as well.
What should have happened is the door opens, and the Vault 33 residents spot the raiders right away, and then the raiders shoot their way in.
I don't think the writers thought very much about the continuity of the show.
@@beowulfsrevenge4369the radiation would be a dead giveaway
@dodojesus4529 Bingo! It's a passive thing pip-boys do. Everyones pip-boy would start going off when the raiders started getting close.
And Hank didn't recognize Muldaver. At all. They're face to face and he knows exactly who she is and does NOTHING.
Agreed on Fallout, I found it quite insulting as a fan. I feel like turning the apocalypse into a bad joke now undermines everything about the franchise.
It's no longer "War never changes", it is now "Durr corporation blow planet up to make the monies!"
Worse, they have Mr House involved in it, making him now a colossal moron as well.
6 Brotherhood Knights have you dead to rights in a hallway? No problem! One unarmored man with a handgun can take them apart easily
The Fallout 1 intro film was turning the Apocalypse into a bad joke. Power Armored US soldiers executing Canadians and waving at the camera, and the Corvega for sale at the low low price of $199,999!
@@Edax_Royeaux Way different context. The soldiers were doing something they likely felt they had nothing to feel bad for. It added a layer of apathy that is explored throughout the game as well. The sale could be a joke or just show how inflation went in that resource low world.
@@witchking2063 With added context that this was broadcast on public TV, and even if the soldiers felt they had nothing to feel bad for, waving at the camera after violently executing someone is also quite something else. If you didn't know, most executioners don't wave at the camera and most militaries know not to use executions to advertise for war bonds. Add to that, the juxtaposition of cutting to a car commercial after all that. It's all got dark comedic timing.
@@Edax_Royeaux Like mentioned in comment it shows a level of apathy that they use more later in game. It does have a comedic effect but not at cost of story.
@@witchking2063, In the first game there us a man in junk town so comically fat that he is unable to stand up from his desk. There's a random encounter in the first game of a man attempting to sell you bombed out cars.
Not sure if y'all will read this, but Fringy brings up around 1:26:20 that Todd Howard has said this is 100% in keeping with continuity.
This is an outright lie. New Vegas is set in 2281, Shady Sands exists at that time and was not in fact nuked at the start of the story. The show explicitly says Shady Sands was destroyed in 2277. This is a catastrophic continuity error that essentially retcons the entire game from canon.
But they'll absolutely dangle memberberries in your face with NCR Ranger uniforms and deathclaw skulls. But God forbid they don't ruin it all again.
Full disclosure, haven’t watched the show yet, but does it being nuked mean it didn’t happen? Bethesda has shown they have no idea what they’re doing before in not understanding how long 100 years actually is, was it nuked but the events of new Vegas still happened or fully retconned? It’s bad either way, but one’s just Bethesda being dumb and the others just awful.
@dragonlope4666 Because New Vegas is a frontier territory for the NCR. They can't fully project power into it because they have significant military forces throughout California. No idea where you got 2282 from either but the NCR was far from collapse in 2281 and would have been in a significantly better state 4 years prior to the stalemate at Hoover Dam.
@@The1337guy1Yeah NCR wasn't as great as it could have been, but Caesers Legion also had a lot of problems. Caesar dying of a tumor would bring problems to the unity of the tribes, and Lanius (not sure if its soelles right, masked dude) isnt a good commander, he's just brutal. And they don't exactly have the weaponry to be effective (tanks, air ships, sniper rifles). Goes the same for the others as well, maybe House would be better but I'm not too sure.
I'm half-convinced that 'unintentionally' retconning the one good modern fallout game made by a different studio wasn't so unintentional.
Someone in chat said “Fallout: Wasting the Wasteland,” which I like
Otherwise Fallout: An Untitled Rage would go pretty hard
Why Untitled?

The Halo TV show is what happens when you have writers who know the story but for some odd reason, venomously hate the IP and do everything in their power to make it shit out of spite. The Fallout TV show is what happens when you have writers who don't know the story, refuse to learn about the story, but are trying to write a show based on the drunken hearsay of someone describing Fallout's lore to them.
Exactly!😆
What about the show leads you to believe they don't know the story?
You know what, NO! I disagree. These showrunners are doing a perfect job adapting the current state of their respective franchises.
The Halo showrunners said they didn’t look at the games and I believe them. They got a rundown of the lore from 343i, and you know what? The Halo show is PERFECTLY in line with 343i Halo. Completely downplaying the Covenant, making everything about Spartans? That was in Halo 4 and the Kilo 5 trilogy. Inane Forerunner bullshit that invalidates the stakes? That was from Halo 4. Complete butchering of the tone and style of the franchise? Halo 4.
The Fallout show is PERFECTLY in line with Bethesda Fallout. Oh, this show has a complete lack of substance, has an idiot plot, and descends into shallow self-parody? So does every Bethesda Fallout game.
@@grimjoker5572 Maybe how it breaks the lore in pretty damn well every single scene. How it's supposed to be in continuity with the games but simply is not, making three of them completely impossible. How the inciting incident of the entire franchise, as explained in the show, cannot be based on the information we already possess as well as in terms of self-contained logic.

I honestly really liked the Fallout show, until I started to think about it more. It's basic things, like Maximus lying about being dead because the writers wanted him to go on adventure with his old bully, or the denizens of vault 33 being delusional to a level verging on retardation, or the denizens of vault 4 recognising that Lucy is a victim of vault-tec's experiments just like they are, but choosing to "execute" her anyway. Not to mention all the deliberate fudgings of the lore. That's not how power armour works, that's not how ghouls work, and Shady Sands was sure as shit not destroyed or "fallen" in 2277
I don't get how anyone who's played ANY Fallout didn't throw their screens against the wall at the Yao Guai thing at least! Even on an instinctual level that bit is unbelievably wrong.
Shady Sands being nuked doesnt make sense. Doesn't the Hoover Dam battle take olacebthe same year? Why would yoy not hear about that? Isnt SS the capital of the NCR? Or am i thinking differently? It would make sense to be since its important enough to nuke. But nuking a city in the NCR would be repryed, no?
@@RhysCallinan-cq5re Which battle of Hoover Damn? Because one of them takes place four years later. And Yes, Shady Sands is the capital of the NCR, it is the wellspring of the only Superpower in the Fallout Franchise.
I expect Season 2 to reveal Arroyo was hit with a meteor around 2235.

Retcons are thing power armor is retconned in almost every game so are ghouls and who’s to say the drug isn’t just an east coast thing
Hearing Rags talk about the Fallout show is an immense relief. The fallout community was making me think I was insane for hating the show when they're just stupid. Quite a relief
ikr, I asked someone what they thought of them retconning very surface level lore that could be found in the wiki like the boneyard and how the nuking of shady sands couldn’t happen in the timeline even if they don’t specify the year, I didn’t even mention the more culture war things that could be used as genuine criticism bc it was a shorts normie fallout channel and the response I got “you didn’t have anything to hate about it, huh?” 😭
in my experience the most praise is coming from "tourist" types that only jumped on casually since FO3. The franchise has been about surface level iconography ever since
@@booperdee2 it feels like people just stopped giving a shit about the soul of the game and now it's just turned into this dumbass theme park attraction. So long as the iconic shit gets vaguely touched on, the consumers are satisfied
Same! Fucking vault tech nuked america!? Where the fuck is the enclave, house is on their board!? Hes supposed to have gone his own way and developed the new vegas anti nuke system! Literally the whole reason the west coast is just barely livable to have all the games take place.
Shits been driving me crazy that so many people who watched it seemed to ignore all of that
And we're not even mentioning that even if they didnt wipe out this surface lore theyve still fucked the 1st 2nd and new vegas game. The ncr has been nuked to dust, the brotherhood of steel are just inept raiders now and vegas is an empty husk. Its now cannon that none of those three games matters anymore in the wider lore.
The Fallout show was made for Bethesda Fallout. Enclave & BoS are massive powers again. Power armour is so inconsistent. FO1, 2 & NV all completely trivialized through existing events. At best, the acting is average, the actors are excited and actually played the games, and the art/aesthetic is close to FO 4.
Cannot wait for Maulers Fallout Video 😁
Fallout TV series is a classic Head Canon show. If you see the various explanations for contrivances, bad writing and shitty events (e.g. Fall of Shady Sands), you see people point to:
1) The games were like this, and then promptly reference something tangential at best, usually from FO 3, 4 & 76
2) Invented story about how this all fits
3) Invented speculation on their own, none of which fits into the lore or seen in the show.
If you notice, the TV series has a ton of deliberate ambiguity (e.g. "The Fall of Shady Sands Timeline"), for people to self-insert a LOT of stuff that isn't there. This is precisely like Ahsoka TV series all over again, where the fan commentators bandwagon on and insert the missing context here and there. Even when clearly none of this is in the TV series, or the writers werent thinking of it.
I remember when headcanon meant "cool theory for thing that's left up to interpretation" instead of "excuses for plot holes"
You nailed it.
And you have the hate commentators bandwagoning on and inserting the missing context with their own theories to hate it.
@@Edax_Royeaux I've seen more of the supporters, than the others.
@@AlphaAurora It all depends on what circles you hang out in on this discourse.
I said pretty early on in the show that if they had set it between the first 2 games (minus the nuking of Shady Sands) the story would've made more sense. The NCR could've been shown as a fledgling faction, still getting its bearings (no pun intended), We could've included the Enclave more front and center, since they were still a major (albeit hidden) power in the region back then. But nah, Bethesda is gonna Bethesda.
That couldn’t work because the NCR eventually beats the Brotherhood making them a no no for Todd.
That would require the show to focus on aspects of the franchise that Bethesda hasn't touched. New Vegas is pretty much a direct sequel to Fallout 2 where as 3 and 4 are those weird spin offs where society still hasn't recovered yet for some reason after 200 years.
I was honestly baffled when I discovered how much this show was liked, from the villain's plans, to the characters, to the plot only kept up by constant conveniences, there was really not much to like
It’s flashy, filled with “fan” service and new. That’s all the consoomers need
My cousin and I explicitly ONLY liked Lucy as a person, and we vehemently HATED literally EVERYTHING else except individual lines from other characters, typically entirely removed from their actual context in the show. And Thaddeus was an underdog that, despite being pretty awful, we couldn't help but want him to have a "good ending" because of how much we utterly LOATHED Maximus. What an evil scumbag Maximus is. I haven't actually felt THAT uncomfortable watching a "protagonist" be framed as the "good guy" since Wonder Woman did the "Forbidden Snu-Snu" while Steve Jobs released the Macintosh...
Not to mention what a piece of shit the ghoul is, but people who like the show endlessly fellate how "kEwL" the character is
The show is written in the same "style" as if bethesdas "head writer" Emil was behind it, that is "you know what would be cool in this scene? A completely unconnected, directly contradictory to lore and previous events thing that looks cool!" You know, like EVERYTHING he has EVER written.
EDIT: When I was active duty, I would use a cheap electric in the field, but I'd have to shave with an actual razor before PT in the morning and again in the afternoon otherwise I'd have a visible shadow. Now that I'm out, I mostly just use an electric for convenience, but it is no where near as close of a shave.
I need to give electrics a second try - the first and only one I bought did not impress me in the least. Not compared to my safety razor.
Yeah in _Man of Steel_ Kryptonians were specifically bred, trained, and assigned to a role in society. Which is why a scientist was able to kick the shit out of the top soldier in hand to hand combat.
Shocked no one had the idea to name it Fallout: An Unbrildled Nuke
I'm glad you guys disliked the Fallout show too. I genuinely thought I was losing my mind with the amount of people gaslighting each other into thinking it was good, even by people that ought to know better...
Seriously, it's an alternate dimension out there...
Luckily on my first attempt, my neighbor started having work done on his roof so I couldn't hear the show for a while and was forced to focus on what I could see.
In the first episode, every single time that there is a woman and a man on the screen simultaneously, the plotline goes out of its way to show that the woman is stronger than the man.
It got to the point that I was predicting what was about to happen like Red Letter Media does when watching a 40 year old movie about seeing women naked... Except that I was doing it on the first episode of a show that I'd never seen. Without audio.
If I'm being _nice,_ that show is blatant trash.
It's horrifying that people are so numb/dumb as to not comprehend what they're consuming, beyond what they'd understand from a cursory glance.
You guys missed the big unanswered question at the start of Fallout.
How come the former Vault 32 residents who moved to Vault 33 didn't notice that they didn't recognize anyone when they opened the door? It's not like there were 200 people in that vault.... there are like 20 in each vault.
One of the biggest kicks in the nuts I’ve seen for The Fallout show that I’ve not seen many mention is the end tease of Vegas (yes there’s logistical issues of how these people even get there from what side but that’s not the point) the shot itself shows a complete naked New Vegas all the surrounding area is gone no roads, highways, monorail track hell no camp mccarran. I know it’s 15 years after New Vegas but it looks like nothing existed. All the issues of Bethesda world building shining through once again.
I also just think this is a purposeful destruction of all non Bethesda Fallout/anything that was better. Shady Sands was the best post apocalypse settlement in Fallout they where building houses and civilisation along with it - Bethesda comes in it goes boom.
New vegas and Obsidians Nevada was a working area and how the people lived and survived all made sense. The people had farms and ranches and everything was kept in mostly working order despite there being a war. - Bethesda comes in to make it shitty.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the show ever goes to a place like Rivet city or Megaton (places that in the games where shit holes that in no way could survive for a long time) they’ll be thriving civilisations.
I'm surprised anyone takes Bethesda in good faith after they shoe-horned the BOS into FO76 because Todd has a hard-on for them.
@@flintglockwood honestly me too. In my opinion Bethesda haven’t made good games. They’ve made Sandboxes; Starfield and I assume Hammerfell are only going to make that more obvious. (Clarification Sandboxes can be a good thing but not when it requires moders to add substance and more toys to the mix to make it interesting)
The show feels like it was adapting Fallout Mods instead of the actual Fallout games. New Vegas being in ruins is straight out of Fallout Dust and the weird revisions to the story's lore is more in place with Fallout The Frontier.
The writers were the ones who wanted to blow up sandy sands, and Bethesda said yes to it for some reason.
The New Vegas anti-reveal does feel deliberately destructive, especially considering Shady Sands and everything else the show shits on.
Creetosis better be in Mauler's Fallout video
The fallout show couldve been improved if they had Maximus be the one that actually crippled his brotherhood friend and then kill Tytus despite Tytus being a nice guy but a coward who ran. Make Maximus a full zealot with ambition that hides behind an idiot persona he uses to disarm people like Lucy.
That would have been good!
that's too smart, the writers can't reach this power level
I thought that's what was happening for the first two episodes. I was giving the show mental props for making two of the main characters genuinely bad people. Didn't last, but it was a cool feeling for a little while.
That or just have Maximus believe his circumstances was leading him to his destiny, I was baffled when he told his replacement Squire that his Knight died and he just took the suit, and not give some speel about how he was a coward who mocked the name of the Brotherhood.
What an arbitrary choice that doesn't help or harm the show. What was done with Maximus worked.
Good stream, but I do wish you guys went a bit more in detail about fallout (the series). The fact that so many people say its always been silly since the beginning and give Bethesda a free pass to screw it up however they please is disheartening. Fallout since the beginning has been gritty and dark with elements of dark humor and satire as opposed to being a full on corny goof-fest for the sake of zaniness. I fear i may never see well-made fallout in my lifetime again, at least i can go back to the 4 decent games and my imagination. Edit: There's also fan-made mods like Fallout: London, Fallout: Miami, Fallout 4: New Vegas, and others that I have my eye on, but it is rather sad that the hard-core fans always have to pick up the slack for Bethesda.
The argument that Fallout was always silly is such cope. The stories Fallout 1,2,3,New Vegas, hell, even Fallout 4's (even though terribly written) took themselves seriously. Its about the human struggle of of survival, and how as long as their are limited resources, mankind will always be at conflict with one another. Yes, their are silly encounters, but in Fallout 1 and 2 they were merely pop-culture references (ie. Finding the Tardis, or Godzilla's foodprint) and were never supposed to be canon. New Vegas put most of its references/extremely silly stuff behind the Wild Wasteland perk. And as I said, even the Bethesda games take themselves largely serious. When your Father sacrifices himself to stop the Enclave from getting Project Purity, it isn't undercut with Dr. Lee saying: "Wowzer, that just happened!" Or when you find out that your kidnapped son has actually lived longer than you and is now in his 80s, and is dying from cancer. Their are silly things in Fallout, but that doesn't make the world of Fallout silly to its core.
The first Fallout game, you find a picture of Elvis on a crashed alien ship. There's a hard limit to how you can describe Fallout as "gritty and dark", it was a franchise that never strove the be The Day After (1983). You play the game with a low INT and everyone will treat you as a drooling invalid incapable of speech, it's clearly intended as a comedy and not as a serious gritty drama. The games can be serious when it wants to but the franchise is not about attempting realism.
@@SwampGreen14 The Fallout franchise isn't afraid of getting serious from time to time, but the overall tone is not serious. The show took to time to show you Snip Snip was broken, it's in the dialogue. He thinks the Great War happened only a week ago, he's not able to think clearly because he's got broken internal bits.
For that bit to work, you have to be thinking in terms of the games showing Mr Handys being crazy. Without tons of out of show context, it seems completely absurd. Bad decision for a series that's supposed to have so much reach.

Why did you think it would fly here?
The bar is so low that an objectively pretty terrible show gets a pass/approval largely because it doesn't seem to have been made almost entirely out of spite toward the audience or the source material when taken at face value. The key jangles were neat, I guess, but Fallout doesn't survive even slightly attentive viewing. I'm not surprised at all that multiple viewings go well and above souring the experience entirely.
If you guys colab with STAG (Creetosis, Enclave Emily, etc.) on an in-depth review of Fallout Prime, it'll break the internet.
EFAP 270 was a banger, so yeah, they'd have _much_ to say about this new Fallout series.
I'm almost always listening to your shows while gaming and I feel I've keep up with the deep efap lore. Blessed Pipe man, Goliath, the cosmic chicken, Tonald, Fringy's goo, spooderman and much more. Been a fan since the beginning and started with Wolf's podcast/Mauler's ds2 video responses.
Best part of this was hearing that Mauler and Jay still talk
the least scary animal is a Cappybara, because a puppy *can* be vicious and concerning, Cappybara are like universally chill and every animal in their environment is chill with them
Ma dude, thats a giant rodent and Chiguires do fight eachother.
Yeah they do serious damage to each other with rat teeth that could fit in a horse's head. Even Capybaras raised in captivity with each other, blood relations, can and will tear chunks out of each other to show dominance.
Also they shit in the pool and that is not chill
Good to know more about them. Thanks guys
Sponges, barnacles, or coral are the least scary animals (yes, they are animals).
Why do none of these comments mention how depressing the education levels of young people are?? Lol...... The dude didn't know fish, animals, zoos, aquariums, etc... Good grief man... 😊
I've been scrolling for such and you are literally the first one to mention it.

A while ago, I saw "guy who listens to podcasts" used as an insult (on 9gag if memory serves). I was genuinely confused why that would be a bad thing.
I had no idea about the vast discrepancy in quality that exists in podcasts until I saw that fish "discussion"
It all depends on the people in the podcast/stream. Back then, being on tv meant you had to put in some kind of effort to get there, even if it was public access. So it weeded out a LOT of the dreck that was too lazy to commit, not all, but a lot. YT, Twitch, and tiktok in that order allowed more and more accessibility. And so more and more dumb people were able to post their idiocy at a lower and lower cost in effort. And then the algorithm doesn't favor anything resembling quality, only engagement.
@@darwinxavier3516
Yeah, that's clearly what has happened.
But when I started listening to podcasts, very few people actually knew what that was, and since I'm very selective about the content I consume, I didn't notice all the shit that has come around. So whenever I see an example, it is a little reminder that maybe TV wasn't so unique in spewing dumb bullshit.
I think i heard a rumor that snyders rebel moon directors cut will actually have different dialogue and even different plotlines. Which if true is ridiculous
I have also heard this and I agree it is quite ridiculous.

I need to look up more crock pot recipes, hehe.
Also, I've been playing EFAPs this week while going through Fallout 4 (playtesting the update content), I'm that familiar with the game.

Fallout: the TV show is a IQ test and a test to if you had your brain turned on.

But it has a pretty lead actress and recognizable iconography!!!
Oh god it’s The Force Awakens all over again.
@@deriznohappehquite Force awakens with Fallout The Frontier level of fetishes, a bit of John Halo show and Trigun Stampede vibes, and feels like a Borderlands tv show instead of Fallout.
How can the name for the Fallout critique be a question? Obviously it's "Schlurpout: An unschlurpled Schlurpo"
"Get that jelly mold out of here!"
Maybe the Fallout praise right now is just a sign of desperation.
People saw Halo and went "holy fucking shit, I didn't know it could get this bad"
Then Fallout comes out and even though it's written in a nonsense way, it's not as horrendous as Halo, so it's good (enough).
We have a saying here "When there's a lack of fish, crab counts as fish". Meaning that beggars can't be choosers or in a pinch anything will do.
After watching Oxhorn go over all of the loving details put into the show in a 50 minute video, I'm not sure "desperation" is what's being experienced. People will overlook the quality of a handmade valentines over a hallmark one if there was enough care put into the production.
@@Edax_Royeaux
The key issue being that there was *clearly* not *"ENOUGH"* care put into it.
Despite the things I enjoyed very much about the show, it was a rotten sack of garbage, that bled all into that fresh apple pie inside.
Had I known that beforehand, I wouldn't have put the apple pie in my mouth to begin with. The show was SO much more bad than good. It was not worth it.
The fish-confused guy would say that Dinosaurs aren't animals because they're not real
The Fallout show may be as poorly written as the Halo show but *unlike* the Halo show the "Bethesda" Fallout gamse are just as garbage
Right? Makes sense why so many tourists and people who have only played the Bethesda games can't tell that it's shite.
Yeah, the writing for side quests in 3 are good & some really good in 4 - but the mainline narrative in both games was always laughably bad ( Enclave / The Institute respectively ) The best way to enjoy 4 is to basically ignore the main quest as much as possible and just treat it like an open world game ( or the many great total conversion mods )
@@Coconut-219 I agree, Fallout 4 is one of my favorite games, but the main story is a laughable joke. But there's a lot of environmental storytelling going on in Fallout 4 beyond the main story that a lot of Bethesda bashers don't mention. I loved Far Harbor and I try to make a stop there in every playthrough.
I walked away from the main quest without a second thought in FO4. “Find my son? No thanks, I’m off to do random quests with Curie.”
@@Edax_Royeaux Enviromental storytelling is so braindead easy to make and a lot of the time is completely meaningless and also missed by most players. Maybe instead of wasting time putting a bunch of skeletons into specific postions, actually write a good story.
To put it plainly, Fallout is like donuts, yeah they're sweet and sticky, but you need meat and vegetables if you want to survive. This show is like basing your diet on McDonalds.
Except McDonals has some redeeming qualities, even some healthy options. Fallout literally just looks similar to a thing people like. There is nothing under its thin veneer
Fallout : now thats what i call epic Bad luck
It really bothers me all the people saying that Fallout respects the games. It absolutely does not. It shits all over the real Fallout games.
I never played the games, but are the mech knights always this chatty, comedic and a bit scared?
@@sparkypack They are called the Brotherhood of Steel, and yes and no. in Fallout 1 and 2, they were a xenophobic cult obsessed with hording old tech. Bethesda retconned them into being superheroes in Fallout 3, then retconned again in Fallout 4 as a fascist clown army which fit mores in lines with the Fallout show.
@@sparkypack the Knights in the games don’t even wear power armor. That’s just another Bethesda retarded retcon. The knights were the engineers of the Brotherhood. It was the Paladins who wore the armor and did the fighting. And no, they weren’t cringey losers in the games. That’s all Bethesda.

What's a "real" Fallout game?
"One, two, and New Vegas are the good ones, and three and four are sort of their own category?"
And guess which games this show shits on an breaks the most?
Fallout show is amazing!
Way to see which UA-camrs have credibility and which don't. It's shocking how positive the response towards it has been and shows most people don't understand anything about Fallout. Especially when talking about things not making sense and Fallout supposedly has always been this wacky wasteland that's not supposed to make sense.
Ikr, it's so depressing. RIP to one of my favorite franchises.
It's just recency bias and the initial excitement (honeymoon phase).
Things that are actually good stand the test of time and don't sour after a month.
Place your bets, my bet is this one will sour.
So CD has no credibility?
@@ManHamAlsume His terrible Fallout take makes me think.
"most people don't understand anything about Fallout." It's this hyperbolic reaction that wont convince people that they're wrong. A lot of Fallout fans like the show and they obviously know *some* things about Fallout but when the discourse ends up being so toxic, nobodies minds are going to get changed.
That supervillains video I got in my suggested and I couldn’t finish cuz it was so dumb. That you Efap, I feel seen
Yeah I've seen it pop up but I ignored it because it was obviously stupid.
So many are praising this Fallout show, yet it’s very much as you expect from any Hollywood quality shit. From breaking lore, skipping past the best lore of the games (the master), throwing so many of those “oh it’s that thing from the game”, and just the characterization of the characters that are just tiresome at this point.
Overall it’s another game adaptation created by unserious people who don’t care to put any effort in regards to writing.
Will we get EFAP Shogun?
That would be interesting.
My guess is it'll get a 1-hour praise and recommendation in the middle of whatever their EFAP is 2 weeks from now
I hope so
no because they only watch about slop im afraid
I would love to hear their discussions on Shogun
Hey a Silo call out! I found that on AppleTV and I was blown away. I've been reading through the books and I actually think we have the rare occurrence where the book is not as good.
Lest we forget, we, too, are animals.
I see the "It's supposed to be stupid!" defense of Fallout a lot. As though a video game adaptation can't possibly be smart and well written, and we should just settle for dreck. 😑
Personally, I think it was as bad as Halo with Master Cheeks.
Fallout's stupid is different from Halo's, you only need to play the games to understand what that means.

Shady Sands was founded by the former dwellers of vault 15, the experiment for which was about the viability of deliberately racially diverse populations. Which means Bethesda blew up diversity. They've accidentally condemned diversity.
To be aware of that, they'd actually have to know anything about the game's lore and story.

12:00 Those translated reviews were all positive, actually. Yes, they called the movie stupid, but they also added that they loved it. It's really the same reaction it got from western fans.
Also, Mauler, no, Minus One didn't take anything from the 1998 movie, it's the 1998 movie that takes a lot from the 1954 movie that also inspired Minus One. These are the statements that make the reviewers get called tourists.
Minus One is still considered one of the better movies, but it did cause an influx of people convinced that it's the only way Godzilla can work.
4:53:00 Yeah, that was the thing for me. At first, early in the series, I was like "Where the hell is the NCR?" As the series progressed, I wondered where the hell was the rest of the NCR. Shady Sands is their homebase, but their reach is pretty far and wide, not just this one town.I didn't realize Ceasar's Legion was quite THAT big, though.
59:23 a stick is boring enough to make you think of something else, and from there it’s boundless. A video game might give you enough planned things to keep you occupied.
There's a lot of things in the Fallout show I didn't like due to having fairly decent knowledge of the games. That being said, I've seen _worse._ I think one of the things that annoyed me the most was how the world felt simultaneously dangerous and not really dangerous, and then big but also not big. Also the Brotherhood as an organization in this show is just awful and not interesting. Maximus and Lucy's relationship was awful. Lucy was good (sometimes), you can say she developed as a character by the end of the show.
The lack of tension left me a bit bored and they had some poor setups for scenes. Besides the Ghoul being able to kill Maximus but just not doing so in Filly, they had the Ghoul pause to listen to Lucy before trying to shoot her and somehow Maximus outruns the bullet in order to save Lucy. If they wanted Maximus to defend Lucy, just have him start shooting at the Ghoul with his handgun to draw the attention away from her. We see how unstoppable the Ghoul is until the show reminds us about the other “essential characters” sharing the screen with him.
Mauler you are misinterpreting the Godzilla comments from Japan: they recognized it was dumb and still loved it. Who do you think were the pioneers in cheesy Kaiju schlock if not Toho? Your expectations are so warped compared to the usual monster movie fan.
Yeah, didn't one of those reviews even clearly say "it's good" or something like that? How did he get the opposite impression?
I have no particular love for Showa era Godzilla films because they were movies where you had a bunch of humans doing some kind of thing and eventually Godzilla would get into a fight with another monster, but they were the template for that genre for decades. First, Shin, and Minus One are anomalies in Godzilla, so to call Mauler and Little Platoon tourists is correct.
maybe this is just me but whenever I see Michael Emerson in a new show or new movie I immediately get taken out of it. I just can't unsee him in LOST tv show character. His face has been burned into my brain as that character. I feel bad for the man lol but if it were up to me I wouldn't hire him in anything. I can't get passed it I'm not sure why.

Years ago, when I watched Twitch, a guy asked if I remember correctly, what is the difference between a pond, lake, ocean, river, etc. I started to laugh, then he mentioned that his school NEVER taught anything about these things. He had only heard of them.
If he were asked what a stream is, he'd probably say, "oh, that's what you see on Twitch and UA-cam."
I can see if that wasn't a skit about what's an animal vs what isn't, he would be this clueless.
The Minecraft splitscreen format is common on shorts, because people have fried their dopamine receptors and always need something moving on screen that doesn't look like an ad or something mundane. You can put MC gameplay over anything in shorts and it will garner a bloody unreasonable amount of views. You also have the Mario gameplay, the funny car game where you drive on ramps until you spin out of control, and you have those satisfaction videos where someone lowers a sif into cold butter and it makes pretty patterns. It all works.
