This Eskimo was haulin ass on his sled right. Then all of sudden "bang" it quits runnin. So he takes it to the shop. The tech takes a quick look, and tells the feller. It looks like ya blown a seal. The Eskimo replies, no no that's frost in my mustache.
Hey Pete, on my older small block Chevy stuff I just lightly attach the drill chuck to top of valve stem, gets the job done super quick, a guy could probably utilize that on that job as well if there’s room for that, and if not perhaps use a piece of thick transmission hose between valve stem and drill, these are just ideas lol
Obviously it is a little late to help you guys but I did both heads on a 2000 Dodge 5.9 magnum and I found using a battery powered drill worked amazingly well. it would of taken me forever and probably blistered both hands. Obviously for anyone never lapping valves before I do not suggest trying this but I feel you have enough mechanical aptitude to not destroy the valves. it has been 5 years now and the engine has over 260K (Miles) and if I remember correctly about 6 months ago I checked and the engine had between 143-145 PSi so it is still working great.
Cheers 🍻 🥂 🍻 🥂 Pete. I love all your video content. Especially the sled stuff. It was because of you that I got my polaris edge 600 going. Pitter patter git at er.
You mentioned North Bay! thats where i live, i got an 04 pro x2 800 setup with forged internals, jetted, clutched, slp single pipe, geared and its an absolute monster in a 500ft. if you're ever on lake nippising and wanna race im down whenever.
Keep up the awesome videos! Absolutely look forward to seeing the notification that you uploaded a new video! I would however love to see more skidoos in videos lol 😆
It sometimes helps to put a small spring under the valve and then it will pop up when you stop rotating . Good call on your joining up with K & B Performance
I’m doing this same thing on my 2010 nytro right now pretty much same engine it’s going to be my first time I’m in New Brunswick first 4 stroke Yamaha for me
I think the latest ARP kits come with a shorter bolt for that waterpump side one now. Great vid, I gave up on my sidewinder with head issues (not the good kind haha). Hope she flys again! 146 mph is moving pretty good!
yeah i haven't seen if they have a shorter one or not..but that would make sense! glad ya enjoyed the video and I'm sure it will make a good pass this season on the ice 🍻
Awesome video. Put a link to the grass race event. I know where it is because my brother lives in Merrickville. My sister and brother all have Cats. We will check out the event and hope to see you and your merch there. 👍🏻
If Amazon would put a square head on that spring compressor tool, a guy could get a socket on there with the Milwaukee/DeWalt and run them up and down quickly - speed the whole thing up.
thank you! yeah I suppose ya could shorten it up and make it the same hight...I gotta put some studs in the motor in YOMAMA so maybe I'll giver a go! cheers 🍻
If those are ARP studs and washers those washers have to go a specific way if there's a taper on one side taper goes to the nut side , that's how they are on my head bolts and studs in my race engine
keep sing that fuel nd you'll have to get new valves and seats. Rig up a second tank, after a a run you can switch over to regular fuel(whatever grade it will run on), and maybe a touch of two-stroke oil. That is, if the plug will burn it, but it usually do unless you tweked the motor to the limits The race fuel is also hard on injectors, rings, cylinders, carbs, and fuel pumps, etc as it is very corrosive.
To bad I have multiple felonies, I have a zrt 600,zr 600 that's clutched studded and a hot rod chip, and a 2008 efi F7 heavy bore kit 907. Would love to ride with you 🎉😢
In 35 years of wrenching, I have never seen a cylinder head tighten from the outside inwards, that would be how you remove a head, always tighten from the middle outwards. I wonder if that picture you used was for removing the bolts?
yeah seemed weird to me too but that's what yamaha says to do in the service manual....I guess we'll just have to cross our fingers and see what happens this winter lol 🤞 I'm sure it'll be fine...those fellas at yamaha seem pretty smart 🍻
Great vid! Think that cancer will come back however. I dont know if he runs race fuel all the time , but maybe a tune for 92/93, run it every other or something.

If Amazon would put a square head on that spring compressor tool, a guy could get a socket on there with the Milwaukee/DeWalt and run them up and down quickly - speed the whole thing up.
not a bad idea right there! cheers 🍻
Awesome video, can’t wait for the next ✌🏻 Cheers 🍻
🍻
Another great video
thank you! 🍻
Would've been a nice touch if you did the Ghost movie pottery scene with Patrick Swayze on the valve lapping part lol. Who would play Demi Moore?
lmao 🤣 Nice One! 🍻
Great videos Pete! Why not just shorten up the stud near the water pump and thread it down to the same distance as the others?
thank you! yeah I suppose ya could shorten it up and make it the same hight...I gotta put some studs in the motor in YOMAMA so maybe I'll giver a go! cheers 🍻
Nice job pete..i wish i could bring the 800 renegade out so u could have a tap at it. Lol.
haha Nice One! cheers 🍻
Awsome to see you guys teaming up .. Will you be posting the f7 content ? Keep up the good work ...
thanks! yeah we will definitely try to get some content of the F7 for sure! cheers 🍻

You make it look easy!
haha thanks! 🍻
Just remember, if Pete can do it, you can do it

60ftlbs final torque
I wonder what was tighter, that head or Pete's sphincter.
🤣🤣🍻
oooww F7 Juice!
Great vid! Think that cancer will come back however. I dont know if he runs race fuel all the time , but maybe a tune for 92/93, run it every other or something.
yeah absolutely! need to run the regular fuel every once and a while 🍻
Is Stan going to write Polaris on the side of the F7?
I like using egg cartons to keep the valve parts organized 😎👍♥️🤣🍻
good idea!! cheers 🍻
did you notice that the valve springs have a up side. i mean the tighter coil goes down the head to prevent valve float.
Boy, Pete sure does crack himself up, doesn't he? Ugh...
haha yessir! if ya can't laugh at yourself then what's the point 🤣 I'm just a happy fella 🍻
Just curious if you made a part 2 of this
not yet...🍻
How did you remove cam chain tensioner without tilting engine forward?
it had a manual tensioner on it already so I just got in there with a bent wrench and was able to loosen it off 🍻
Brother how do you know so much shit? Nice one!
haha I don't know it all but I'm always willing to learn and try to fix what I can! cheers 🍻
Hope Yamaha lets Arctic Cat Feature the Turbo 4 Cylinder Underdrive Engine.
now that would be awesome! 🍻
SO CLOSE TO 20K SUBS...LET'S GO PEOPLE!!!
haha we're gettin close!!! thank you for the support!! cheers 🍻
Canada told me no bueno for entering
Pete locktite is a no no on head studs !
