I worked at a Honda dealer when I was 19 when this car came out. I too couldn't afford the SIR (it's called that in Canada) so I bought the SI and slowly added some parts like the OEM wheels and front lip. I loved that car so much but always dreamed of the SIR. Nicely done on this project. I would of put back the OEM rims if it was mine but it looks great.
I think it's cool that Mike was able to buy the car that he wanted when he was younger. After, working hard for few years as honda tech and becoming a service director for Acura. Mike was able buy and restore few cool honda/acura cars on the UA-cam AHC Garage channel. Mike has a good Acura service team who have the same passion for cool honda/ acura cars. It's cool to see the UA-cam AHC channel continue to grow. I look forward to next cool restore project on AHC channel.
@@ahcgarage You're welcome. I have enjoy watching AHC garage videos over the pass 3 years. I received my driver's license in November of 1983 and my first car was 1977 Honda Accord with 5 speed manual transmission. It's cool to see the Honda brand grow over the years especially when Acura was launched in 1986. VTEC engines were game changers in 1990's. My Current Honda is 2005 Civic Si with swapped Japan-spec EP3 CTR powertrain.
Love seeing a clean EM1 and most of all love seeing one restored to factory specs along with a few upgrades. Not a lot of clean EM1'S around anymore. I have an EM1 myself that's very clean and definitely not factory lol but my pops bought brand new in 2000 and i bought in 2009 and now it's heavily modified but took me 10 years to get it to where it's at but I love it! Just started following your channel and so far love watching! Keep up the good work!!
As you were setting up the car to be OEM+, I was still hoping that you will be putting on the SI rims that came factory but I could understand that maybe the factory rims would not fit over the spoon brake calipers, the OEM SI rims hold a special place in my heart I remember buying a set to put on my EG Civic
Man you guys that is absolutely stunning! What a Supreme showcase of all your talents. Mike I am so glad you got to relive your childhood dreams of owning this EM1 Si. This is the nicest one I have ever seen.
The only things I can say is that the mechanics did an absolutely beautiful job putting the car together, the project manager did a great job in parts selection, and the camera man did nice job, too. Like we say in the U.S. Navy, “Bravo Zulu!”
Wow, nice job guys. I bought one these brand new back in the days. It was only a two year production of these. I had the 2nd year 2000 in this same Milano red. Beautiful!
Man, I don't even want to know how much was spent on OEM parts for this restoration. A true labor of love. An extremely well restored golden era honda!
what a dream to own this car, I've had a general interest in cars for over 15 years (still don't know much about how to build them) but these past 5 years I've had an extreme interest in the EM1, god willing i'll start looking for one to buy and start working on it after i graduate this summer. Such a great build.
Absolutely stunning restoration with nostalgic inspiration! I love it all buttoned up bois! Id say this is the cleanest one in America now for sure! 🎉❤
That em1 is stunning, congratulations for all of you who build it, same as the paint job Mr Brian paint society, hope you make as well the eg9 next project? Lol 😆. . . keep it up and more power!! Cheers 🍻 👏
I wish I had the money, time and skill to do something like this. I'd do it with a 90's Taurus SHO or a 2000 ZX2 S/R. Personally, would have gone with a white multi-spoke wheel but that's a very minor complaint lol.
Grind toward it man. Your goals can be done financially wise and mentally to accomplish something like this. Now granted, the majority of enthusiasts aren’t living how they live right now, but it’s a process that’ll give you peace in the end. I currently have 20 lists of cars for restorations/mild & race builds for all thpe of cars mainly hondas. I would’ve gone with the stock Si wheels.
This car should serve as an example to the community that talks mad shit when someone pays a decent chunk of change for a low mile, all original car in above average condition. The cost to restore a car to this level is significant and so many of the parts they used are simply not available anymore so..if you really want a really nice EM1 you either gotta have a time machine or deep pockets. lol Great build series guys, well done!
Beautiful job. The amount of new original parts on this project is staggering. Begs the question why you got all those original parts but finished it off with non OEM wheels, lol. 195/55-15!!!
Definitely the best teem working on hondas meticulous work the only thing Gail's on the m1 the cars have vin # on each parts you need save don't take out this caunt on this cars . Car looks incredible.
Man dude. I test drove an electron blue one too and same thing couldn’t it either. Would love to ride in this thing, I had to buy two em1 to make one ok one, but a basically brand new car would be sick to check out.
Hey guys, I can't stop the obsession over this project as it is one of mine's long time dream to buys classic like this one and restore them back to factory condition. Now the question would be, how much does it cost to have this done for us average Joe that would like to do something like this??? Can you guys break this down not just for me but for every one here?
Wow amazing EM1 Mine would never look like that lol But trying little by little Any chance you have an idea of the part number of the front H Honda emblem? I will be so appreciate it Thanks
I'd love to know what the estimated cost of this. So cool and over the top but equally awesome at the same time. I have a red em1 too love the car so much. Awesome job to all involved in this build, one of the coolest I've seen on UA-cam thx for making a series on it
It's a thing that was a thing. I remember pulling mine off because of a Honda-tech thread about them being the cause of rust in the wheel arch. I have to imagine for a car that will not see snow or salt the occasional rain in Floirda isn't going to be an issue.
I said this years ago Honda could manufacturer these Civics and do some small improvements if any and these cars would sell better than the new cars they are putting out now.
What is the purpose for completely restoring the vehicle and spending so much money. How much did the complete restoration cost and did you spend more money restoring this car, than what the car cost when first purchased?

I would have used same size and offset CE28N's. Significantly lighter than stock.
He wouldn’t of been able to clear the new brakes with the OEM wheel I believe
Thanks for sharing
i wish they also restore my car 😁😁😁and get featured

Gorgeous EM1 Mike! My first car was a brand new 2000 Black EM1 I bought 12/1999. Wish I still had it!
Thanks for sharing. This is the one I couldn't afford but glad to finally able to have her
Awesome Project! Thanks for the opportunity to be part of this build!

Great build!! Attention to detail was paid.

Ahhh. Love seeing all those new OEM parts being pulled from the plastic bags.
Can't beat the OEM goodies
Fruits of your labor Mike, its perfect. Notes have been taken and I think I need to slow down on my K Swap and take care of the body. Awesome Stuff!
You can do it! Thanks for the support!!
I wish Honda would continue to build Civic’s like this. Amazing build AHC!
Thank you!
Really beautiful cars, a lot of time, energy, and a whole lot of money put into some of these amazing vehicles.
@AHC Garage great job and Merry Christmas!
Same to you. Thanks for tuning in as always
Great build, my first car I bought myself with my own money was a Cdn 2000 Civic Sir, Can't believe I have had her for 23 years now. 76K miles..

That’s the cleanest si I’ve ever seen. I just wished I had the money to buy that civic as is. Love you guys and keep it up.
Looks great! I personally would have upgraded the headlights or had a retrofit done so you have better vision at night.
Great point, maybe in the near future
Very nice build Mike, great attention to detail, I love the job you guys did on my own MR EM1, quality work by quality people ❤

Just the little trim bits and clips i know this thing wasnt cheap. Alot of the older honda parts are getting so hard to find
The parts are one thing but the labor hours on this would be outrageous.
Parts = 10-12k if you do the labor
Labor and parts = 15-20k.
To be able to relive our childhood dream, it does comes with a pricey tag. But she will live with us forever
Honda Jazz next please ❤
How come did you install the rubber seal on the rear arch ? I thought that held in moisture which then lead to rust ? Is it just a myth ?
No worries. This car will never see a rainy day
It's a thing that was a thing. I remember pulling mine off because of a Honda-tech thread about them being the cause of rust in the wheel arch. I have to imagine for a car that will not see snow or salt the occasional rain in Floirda isn't going to be an issue.
Mostly for northern states
It would have to get through the paint job before it would rust. I'm just going to guess that paint job is a bit better than OEM.
that em1 is 🔥 and what happen to John ?? is he still part of ahc garage ??? haven’t seen him in any of these new episodes
Thanks very much!! Jon is working with another project cars but he isn't going anywhere
WHERE DID YOU GET THE UNDER HOOD EMISSIONS DECAL STICKER FROM OR WHAT'S THE PART NUMBER FOR IT ???
How much did it cost to do this?
Costly but worth it
What size are those tires?
205/45/16

Extremely sad you guys didn’t do OEM wheels personally I think it would’ve looked way better and cleaner 😢, looks good tho
U trippin boo lol but some sw388's woulda been perfect. Thing looks great tho. I'd just remove the wheel decals.
We have a brand new set of the stock wheel and might do a switch up in the future :-)
