@@MARKDUBS.3DPRINTING oh why thank you very much!!! Keep up the good work! I'll be following you and your top notch quality videos! I've seen all 3 videos even if I never and probably never make a cast of a helmet or anything for that matter, it's just your voice and way of explaining things....... When I'm on the bus I put one of your video's and just relax ... Now I have to watch your other videos!
When I pull up the amazon link for vizor, the plastic is shown is dark green by default for $15. But If I want the dark black tinted its $30. But I think you said it was only $15 in video. Did u use the dark green?
The tinted visor that I used in the video is dark green. Looking at it from the outside once it is installed on the helmet, it does appear darker than you would think, though. Also, I found a similar visor on amazon just now that is roughly $13, so slightly cheaper. Still green, though... :) www.amazon.com/MCR-Safety-181542-Polycarbonate-Faceshield/dp/B009A5T89A/ref=sr_1_14?crid=2ZMDW1X8NL5SQ&keywords=black+tinted+visor&qid=1644842795&sprefix=black+tinted+visor%2Caps%2C79&sr=8-14

Good to know about the sizing advice xD I noticed you printed without center support, about how long did your print take? And do you recommend printing without support?
So for this print, it was roughly 2 days. Most helmets of that size I think would take that long. Looking back, I should have had the auto-generated supports feature turned on in Cura. Most helmets that you will print will not sit perfectly flat on the build plate, so in those instances, they are necessary. The same goes for any overhanging areas as well.
These are the dimensions that the helmet STL file started at. Uniform Scaling at 100% X-Axis: 247.9469mm Y-Axis: 257.3984mm Z-Axis: 280.8766mm I scaled my helmet to my head so this is the size that you saw in the video. Uniform Scaling 105% X-Axis: 260.3442mm Y-Axis: 270.2683mm Z-Axis: 294.9204mm Also, just so you can have another point of reference, here are my printer's dimensions so you can compare it to the printer that you are looking into buying. Building platform : 300 x 300 x 305 mm I hope this helps! 😃
@@MARKDUBS.3DPRINTING thanks for the response! I don’t think the printer I was looking at can build that large. Might have to slice it and join it instead which is fine. Just a little more work on the back end but no biggie. I’ll have to figure that out plus will give me some additional practice with slicing.
@@EngineeringDisaster if you are going to split up the helmet, I would check out the link below. It’s a great tutorial for printing helmets on smaller printers 🙂. ua-cam.com/video/z7rOsba3WbY/v-deo.html
Wait... How the heck did you print the helmet without supports on the visor?? I mean, like, how did it print on thin air? Thank you, amazing job, I'm subscribing
I got lucky with how the visor cutout turned out, to be honest. At the time this was still a new hobby for me so I didn’t know about auto-generated supports yet. Thank you for the sub! I also sent you the link for that helmet under your other comment. 😊
This is hella accurate. Good job dude!
This was excellently made! Makes me want to go get a 3D printer now...
Look forward to more videos!
More to come!
Excellent video, very helpful! Great job!
Thank you!
Have you ever tried XTC-3D?
Oh and where did you get files? Again thank you very much!
