How to deal with an LDR before your first meeting in the Philippines

- We talk about our experiences being in an LDR before our first meeting at Cebu Airport, Philippines back in June 2022. An LDR is hard, its tough, so we share some of the things we think may help others.

I just began an LDR with a Filipina who is 45 with 3 kids. I am 64 with 2 kids and live in Midwestern USA. There are presently 13 hours differerence between myself and her. I make it a point to keep in contact with her anyway that I can and she reciprocates. To make matters more difficult I work the overnight shift and she works days and has no wifi at home. We still find ways to communicate because we choose to do so. I thank you for your advice.
Hi Douglas, if the love is strong, it will always be possible to find time to contact each other, yes it can be hard with the time difference, and work schedules, but love will always find a way!

This is exactly the way is was for me. God laid it on my heart to ask another Filipina friend of mine if she had a single friend. She told Cristina my Facebook information and a couple of days later asked her if she had contacted me yet. She had not, and my friend told her to do it, that I was looking for someone. Cristina eventually did and now we have a wonderful LDR and I will be going to Philippines in June to marry her. Not legally but GODLY, we will be married in God's eyes, just not on paper so her family can attend the wedding and then when I bring her to the United States, we will be married legally here.

I’m in Midwest and my LDR is near Tacloban and in short, it’s not easy. We are fortunate to have each other but Patience is required and Christ helps balance the occasional rollercoaster ride. Life and it’s challenges mixed with feelings and time constraints can be challenging. Thank you for sharing let me suggest reading:

I’ve had dismal luck with two “relationships“ from OurTime. One was a scammer and the other was a bully. I never met either one of them.
If I wanted a bully I would have stayed with my abuser (ex-husband). No thanks!

Add to that, I am a convert to Eastern Orthodox Christianity, so some folks think I am a weirdo. They are probably right, ha-ha.

And yes host I am in LDR with my beautiful Manila Lady as you are right as LDR has many struggles but both couples have to want and make it successful as Definitely Finding Time For Each Other For Sure No Excuses

Perhaps step on Philippines land and see where is my luck.
Dating sites are not the only or best way to meet, for those who are able to come here, then look for a Filipina, have a better experience I think.

I agree Clyde. Pray, ask God that when you chat a person, shes not a scammer and the intention is pure Love or friendship first. So that you'll know the real attitude of a person. Trust earns thru time. Love is not expedited. But honesty should be automatically in a person. When i say honesty"means focus in one person and decide if shes the one to get married or not"
Meet in a half way. Girls should have standard on meeting a guy. Its not an expectation its a decision.

Them bloody Roosters would get on my nerves. I'd have to find a place far away from them but it seems that every household has them.
Actually they are not bad here, I know you can hear one on this video but its rare. The ones we do hear tend to be only at dawn. But for anyone coming to the Philippines, or thinking about it, roosters are very common, you would find it hard to be in a place where there were none :)

Philippine people are very religious so it's very difficult if you're not
I agree, however, I have never experienced any issues over religion. Although they have very strong religious views, the are also very open to others.

Hello Ian, am in an LDR also. We're almost 2 years now. But he never told me any plan for us. We met on the dating site also and he told me he was looking for a women for future wife. Since then we become in relationship. He never said about it anymore. Should i ask him or let the fate do what for us. I'm getting older. Can you advice me. Thank you
