    what an amazing looking river system to fish ! The fish that followed looked like a little barra, persistence paid off in the end !

      Pretty sure it was a jungle perch. It has black tips on its tail..was a really beautiful spot. I would have spent my whole time there if I knew about it sooner.

      Yea I would have loved to land that golden trevally. I should have just pulled it up the jetty rather than trying to walk it to the lower platform

    Nice little adventure mate! 2 years ago I fished that first estuary of your video. I was also unfortunate due to a lot of freshwater coming down. I know that when it is closed off from the ocean you can get jacks, barra and tarpon in there. Pretty sure that tarpon was the grey big scaled fish you saw. Good job on the silver Grunter at the end!

    Persistence pays off with a nice catch there at the end. Hope you enjoyed your time up North, looks like you found a few cool spots to throw a line in. Well done!

      Thanks, I had to message my QLD friend and he asked his Cairns mate and he said it was a Silver Grunter :) I thought a grunter had a pointy nose and googled sooty and didn't know there were other grunters. Big anal fin spike! Pulled hard, I thought I was snagged!

    If you could support yourself financially would you ever move to Cairns?

    • @yep.fishing
      @yep.fishing  8 місяців тому

      For me personally within Australia it wouldn't be my first choice. I would prefer a few other places in Queensland over Cairns. As a family man I think I'd prefer the sunshine coast or Gold coast. Although Port Douglas north of Cairns a little was a nice spot.

    Hi mate, how many lb braid do you run?

    • @yep.fishing
      @yep.fishing  7 місяців тому

      It's equivalent 10lb when I go lower diameter I have occasionally had the line go between the spool and reel body if I've had the have the spool tension low.

    • @VB-ci1ko
      @VB-ci1ko 7 місяців тому +1

      I see, for that reason I’m planning to run 16lb on my dark wolf ultra. Or do you think 10lb is thick enough that it doesn’t get stuck in the spool? Also what brand braid are you using?

    • @yep.fishing
      @yep.fishing  7 місяців тому +1

      Depends on the diameter of the line but any 10lb should be fine. I'm running varivas trout finesse x4 on one reel. Atomic Linez on another (available at BCF I believe or your local tackle store). There are also other options available in AliExpress of you're interested.
