Pretty sure it was a jungle perch. It has black tips on its tail..was a really beautiful spot. I would have spent my whole time there if I knew about it sooner.
Nice little adventure mate! 2 years ago I fished that first estuary of your video. I was also unfortunate due to a lot of freshwater coming down. I know that when it is closed off from the ocean you can get jacks, barra and tarpon in there. Pretty sure that tarpon was the grey big scaled fish you saw. Good job on the silver Grunter at the end!
Persistence pays off with a nice catch there at the end. Hope you enjoyed your time up North, looks like you found a few cool spots to throw a line in. Well done!
Yea I haven't been back to Brissy in 3 years so prob head there before going back to Cairns. Maybe I will convince my old man to shout me a trip there and we can fish offshore in my cousin's boat :)
Thanks, I had to message my QLD friend and he asked his Cairns mate and he said it was a Silver Grunter :) I thought a grunter had a pointy nose and googled sooty and didn't know there were other grunters. Big anal fin spike! Pulled hard, I thought I was snagged!
Yea when I first bought them I was thinking "I can believe I paid $20 for these" but they have never failed me. One of few smart fishing investments I've made
For me personally within Australia it wouldn't be my first choice. I would prefer a few other places in Queensland over Cairns. As a family man I think I'd prefer the sunshine coast or Gold coast. Although Port Douglas north of Cairns a little was a nice spot.
It's equivalent 10lb when I go lower diameter I have occasionally had the line go between the spool and reel body if I've had the have the spool tension low.
I see, for that reason I’m planning to run 16lb on my dark wolf ultra. Or do you think 10lb is thick enough that it doesn’t get stuck in the spool? Also what brand braid are you using?
Depends on the diameter of the line but any 10lb should be fine. I'm running varivas trout finesse x4 on one reel. Atomic Linez on another (available at BCF I believe or your local tackle store). There are also other options available in AliExpress of you're interested.
what an amazing looking river system to fish ! The fish that followed looked like a little barra, persistence paid off in the end !

@@yep.fishingit was definitely a Barra haha
@@rockzzlol oh really? Little Barra?
Man, those locations!!! Thats incredibly beautiful! Glad you got one at the end mate!
Cheers bud. I wish I was still there
🐊
Croc country for sure
Very lucky to have nice places to fish BFS.
Yes the last spot in particular was beautiful
Glad it wasn’t a donut! Nice catch, the most memorable are the ones you nearly lost or not caught
Yea I would have loved to land that golden trevally. I should have just pulled it up the jetty rather than trying to walk it to the lower platform

Nice, awesome spot close to town. That fish that came up and swam away looked like a JP. you can see the black on its tail :(
Persistence pays off with a nice catch there at the end. Hope you enjoyed your time up North, looks like you found a few cool spots to throw a line in. Well done!
Yea I would absolutely love to explore that last spot again one day.
I have a lot to catch up on! I am sure i have some good stuff to binge on

Awesome..nice new location.
Nice fish 🤙🤙
Yea sadly I will probably never go there any time soon :( one day though for sure
The locations were amazing. Was that an Archer fish you caught
A silver grunter (I'd never heard of them, only sootys). I love that last location, wish I found it sooner :)
@@yep.fishing Yeah, it's hard to fish completely new waters sometimes. Just being able to fish there is a memory in itself
Spot on
Hey mate the fish you caught at the end was a silver grunter, nice video keep it up

yeah they are cool fish somewhat rare to get on lure and only found on the east coast of fnq and png region@@yep.fishing
Yea I was surprised my cousin and friend didn't know what it was. My cousin is in Cairns but more of an offshore fisho
Pity I couldn't land one of those JPs at the end
Thus pliers are the money! And why did you went fishing on the set of avatar?
Yea when I first bought them I was thinking "I can believe I paid $20 for these" but they have never failed me. One of few smart fishing investments I've made
@@yep.fishing I tought you got them on Ali mine are from there under 3€
No it's an Australian brand. Got them from local tackle shop. I am happy to support local businesses.
Quick upload!
Hopefully I can continue to drop weekly contrnt
Are you afraid of crocodiles being near by?
Not really, was plenty of people around this busy area swimming etc, also dogs in the water so I wasn’t worried.
Id be too scared of crocs 😬
I don't know if I was silly but I just kept my eye out
If you could support yourself financially would you ever move to Cairns?

Hi mate, how many lb braid do you run?
