I wish I had these creeks around me. I still have a good time exploring and being in nature. I often work on my casting technique when it's hard to get a bite. My casting accuracy and distance has improved dramatically on those few days when it's tough.
Nice scenery mate, skinny water is great. You definitely should do more of it. In my opinion, just take 1 combo with y. If afraid of braking rod or reel then take a spat in the backpack but definitely avoid carrying 2 combo’s with you in your hands, it makes things way harder when negotiating obstacles. I’m sure next time you’ll get a couple of nice ones 😉
I actually had 3 combos. Had a 4 piece 5'1 with a reel in the back pack. I ended up dumping the red on in the bushes so I didn't need to carry it. Plan is defo just to cart 1 and one in the bag. Was taking it more so to knock off this reel review video. Same reel more or less but different colours
Great video Jacob! Lovely scenery, and cool you brought all three of the aurora air versions with you. Next one with the new black one too? :o) Aurora air has been amazing for me. all my three work great. just a few shims and bearings here and there and you got a perfect performer. a caster among the best in cdm bfs. Tight lines From Norway.......Morten.
Thanks mate, maybe the black one in the future. That would be my favourite colour but don’t need it to be honest. Trying to part with some reels right now.
Wonderful environment and superb filming. Fishing where you do must be great for the soul even when not catching. On a more prosaic side of things, it seems I got a "Monday morning production" Histar Gui 99. Both knobs required substantial shimming, the pair of washers along the shaft were installed incorrectly - (( rather than () - and the drag is quite uneven. I haven't been able to address the latter issue because I chickened out when faced with the minuscule screws that attach the side plate to the body. On top of being extremely small, the screws' drive is not well defined and I can't identify the size and type of drive. It seems like an accident waiting to happen to me as I'm quite patient, but have two left hands and ten thumbs. Could you provide me with that information (metric or imperial) before I strip one (or more) of those screws? Many thanks for your help and great work.
Thanks for the kind words. I will reply to this with the screwdriver bit size. If you check my aurora air video I pull it apart and show the washers which were )) or ((. I had to remove one to get the drag star to work properly.
@@yep.fishing Thanks for the tip about removing one of the curved washers. I may well work for the Gui 99. Meanwhile, I found out that the appropriate bit is a Torx T6, so you can stop searching. Thanks for your efforts and keep up the excellent work.
Wow, definitely more of it. Such a great scenery. Regarding these reels…..well….I‘m fortunate to have enough money to buy the JDM stuff. Nevertheless, I‘m also interested in what‘s going on in other markets and in my opinion there are indeed some very interesting CDM products (I really like the Tender Shoot for example and the Loongze reels are solid products as well) BUT…the Histar Aurora Air and it‘s relatives are crap. Cheapest plastic with absolutely no rigidity (which indicates at least to me that there is no sustainability/longevity to be expected), lots of „stock“ flaws due to poor qc, line getting between spool and frame (yes, mine did that as well and I never experienced something like that with one of my JDM reels). You get what you pay for, it‘s just that simple….cheap reel, poor quality. It should be in everyone’s ambition to get the best package for the money and to emphasize solely on the cost of acquisition is not the best approach…
Its not that many of us can't afford JDM reels, it's that there are cheaper options that outperform them. Aldebaran, SS air TW...whatever. There are Chinese reels that outperform these such as the silver feather series and cormorant.
Yea the QC is very hit and miss it seems with Histar. Overall I'm happy with the product, paid 55 for the AA, and under 100 for the GIUs, maybe even in the 80s for the red one. The silver feather series seems to have no issues, the tolerance between the spool and the wall is very good too so you could probably run a .04 Gou Braid and not have any issues with it getting caught in the side.
I have that rod and reel also. For creeks I have the lure star sigama a 4’9, Purelure creek dance 5’1 and just recently ordered the kingdom stream king which is on sale. I will do an unboxing when I get it.
Hello, I'm Japanese and I use the same reel to post on UA-cam. Even in Japan, if you ask people who have purchased and used products from Aliexpress, they have the same opinion. However, the performance is very good, so I like it and use it. I translated this using Google, so please forgive me if the words are weird.
No the translation is perfect! I seen one Japanese video about this GIU and they were saying some bad things about it. It is not perfect but for the same price I think you cannot get a better reel. The Purelure DC reel is very good, but also more than double the price. Thanks for watching.
great szenes, great surrounding. I love and hate my Aurora(s) Air, too. Nice to see the other versions in action. thanks for
Danke Rapha
Nice looking streams and clean water, looks like the Hopkins... Mountain Goat territory....Once good description of gear used with honest opinions
This is actually near Ballarat direction
Hi my friend very very good video 👌. Thank you for always writing very nice things on my UA-cam channel.
You’re welcome, no problem :)

Thanks! Will do!

I have 2 Aurora air reels and the silver giu. All are good reels
Probably just one guy on the assembly line not doing his job properly haha

what rod are you using, I currently have the Biutifu XUL 1.8m rod paired with the GIU 99, but I want to use something shorter for when going to creeks

The lurestar rods are good quality for sure. Hoping the stream king is equally as good
I usually put bacon on the trout opening. BADUM TSS
When you open the trout? We just call it trout opening because now is the open season for wild trout. Saturday was the first day.
@@yep.fishing I know lol, just making a bad joke, we also have the Trout Opening in March, unfortunately this year sucked because of flooded rivers.
@@RicardoReview yea some other places in the state were dirty but luckily this one was very clear
@@yep.fishing that's a shame in here is up to nature, since there is no planning by anyone.
We are very lucky in my state, even on a state by state basis their is a big difference in stocking etc
Jacob, what kind of fishing line do you have wound?
Gimsens Cross Nanofilament braid from AliExpress in .04 size. It's a green box with a picture or a large mouth bass on the box
