Dude I live here in Italy in the northern part, yeah I can agree down south people are way more willing to talk to or interact with you regardless of race. Can't say as much here in the north, here it is racist asf, go into a bar or place you never been in before and they treat you like a bear that just entered the room, "omg, omg the black man, what is he going to do?, what does he want? omg".....I noticed the only way people here in the north are attracted to you is if your a stereotypical black man i.e. military muscle pound guy, basketball player type, listen to loads of rap music etc etc..
My father is American (ex military) and my mother is Italian we been here since 1998, I lived the first thirteen years of my life in America so I'm bilingual. When I go out somewhere here I get more attention if I fake it like I don't know the Italian language, the moment you start speaking Italian women just drop you right there on the spot.

I watched the video and you are right; he's way off on generalizing and making a consensus of how Italian women treat Black men - the title was basically a "shiny object" for you click on. One experience does not constitute an all encompassing consensus of how Italian women look at, feel about or treat Black men.
I know several Black men that are married to an Italian woman.
I will just say that Italian woman truly take care of their man; and most have that "old fashion" love and affection (that Black Women used to have) for their man.
All any man can really do is share his personal experience in a particular place, but can't speak to how another man do in a given place. I think there are countries in Europe, like Germany, where you can make a general statement about how Black men will fare, but I'm not sure that Italy is one of those countries.

Glad you enjoyed your time in Italy. I visited 5 years ago and I had a different experience and I most likely won't be going back. Outside of the big tourist attraction spots like Florence, Venice and Rome I felt I was treated differently because of the color of my skin. I met a woman there who told me the more north you go in Italy the more racist it gets and the more south you go the more accepting people are of blacks people. Which makes sense because Southern Italy is closer to Africa. You were spot on about everything else, the history/culture, food and attractions were amazing in Italy. The women there were just average I wasn't blown away. Any brothers planning to visit I would say as a black man is to stick to the big tourist cities and stay mostly in the south. Like I said I would never go back if you do decide to go North or outside the tourist cities I would say wear something shows you are from the US as I felt the mood changes and services were better when Italians find out your are from the states because you're there to spend money. I will also say I went to Prague, Czech Republic a week later and had a completely different experience from Italy. I highly recommend you visit.

North and south are the same, but in southern Italy people are more extrovert, so they *seem* more friendly. But the truth is that a mixed marriage is more accepted in northern Italy than in southern Italy, where the honor of the family is still very important and a foreigner with black skin in the family would be considered a disgrace. In general Italians think that people marry foreigners with black skin only because no Italian wanted them and is considered a 'shame' and in any case a wrong choice that Italians will regret in the future.
And if you are a foreigner, white, black, green or blue you will always be a stranger to be wary of, regardless of the kindness of the people you meet.

I am 100% Southern Italian, and to be frank, it is not common for Italian women (both southern and northern) to be interested in Black men. I've lived and travelled all over Europe and would say that other countries such as French or Czech are way more open to dating black men.
Thats odd I am black and had the opposite experience. To the point that I actually refuse to date Europeans from any country do to the amount to fetishization I experienced. Reading the comments. I'm French and hold Canadian passport from working abroad for years and I know holding dual citizenship played a major role with my encounter with women because they got to speak in French or English to me but I went to Torino(not really a big tourist town) by myself and had the BEST TIME! I didn't experience any racism or felt out of place, everyone was nice and made me feel welcomed. In fact the only times something happened was when African taxi drivers trying to rip me off for extra money and getting to fights with guys that would come in your booth and try to drink your alcool but the only thing I realized is that most hate black people that are straight from Africa(born&raised) and staying there for 2 weeks I hate to say it but it is really because 50-70% of African migrants that are there are just stupid. I noticed how they would talk and treat me with more respect and want to help me out like walk me where I need, help me with italien but I'm not that strong and etc. So I will say don't just go to major tourist cities but explore smaller ones also! As long as you are respectful you will meet people wherever you travel just stay in the centre because uber isn't everywhere

I was also in North Italy as a tourist for 6 months in the late 90s...I was in the Trento/Roverreto area...the landscape the mountains and the view was spectacular...they have very smooth Roads even better than the US....I should know because I used to cycle there and it was fun....would love to return again someday when all this Corona goes away.
Went to Italy about a year ago in January of 2019, me and my friend we from NYC and we're black. Italian girls have a love hate relationship with black guys. There's no in between. Alot of Africans live in Italy so they are used to them. But women treat black Americans a little better but the overally population was rude and agressive towards us.

I’d have to agree with you on this one but also add, most Americans, not just black men, don’t even have a passport and don’t travel internationally; a sad fact. Black men especially, should travel early in their twenties if afforded the opportunity - for extended periods. It really helps one to gain some perspective on the world and your own life relative to your everyday experiences.
I live in Italy now; love it here. So much so, I married an Italian.
You said that you had been to Italy once before, I must say that there is a big difference in Northern Italians and Southern Italians. I live in Naples and the people of Napoli have a lot in common with the nature of Africans and African Americans. Very family oriented and love deeply. Friends are like family and family are like friends.
Community neighborhood and taking care of each other is the nature of Italians. This is one of the reason that I love Italy; something that I believe and feel has left the spirit of Black Americans.
Italian treat everyone with respect that gives respect. They can read you and do not play games and nonsense with relationships. Family is first and take care of each other.
Traveling in Italy and Europe as a whole is easy and inexpensive. Living in Italy is fairly inexpensive; especially here in southern Italy. The weather is pretty good but it can get cold during the winter; but the winters are short, about 2-3 months; snow in the north and just cold in the south.
My sister-n-law lives in Greece and we visit there as often as we can; another beautiful place that I could retire to as well.
Keep traveling and exploring my brother. I will tell everyone that living outside the United States is a much better life. Once the leave the US and wake up to this big beautiful world you never stop learning and discovering.
I always say....."Life is short and tomorrow is not promised. Live life to the fullest and never wait for all of the lights to be green. Go Get!"

I may not always agree with this man’s POV but I will always applaud him for being brave/mature enough to travel the world without fear. Italy is one of the most beautiful countries that I have been to and I’ve traveled all over the central and north part of it. Did not experience any racism. I’m sure there are some racist people there (like in every country on earth) but if you are well dressed and conduct yourself with class (and at least make an attempt to speak a bit of the language) you will be fine. I would encourage EVERYONE to go and see the amazing sights that they have over there… not to mention the world class food!

@Tim My girlfriend lives in Chiang Mai. But I've been to Bangkok, and Phuket to. Phuket is actually an island but still is a part of Thailand. I did like Phuket because you're near the beach. Chiang Mai is not as large as Bangkok but it's the second largest city in Thailand. It depends on what you like. If you like the large cities, then Bangkok without a doubt. I'm still exploring Thailand to make sure where I want to live permanently. I hope this helps a little. I'll know more in depth April of next year. I'm going back to Thailand for a month.
