I only have Korua boards. For the first time I feel like I should start to look somewhere else
Stranda seems to do things very right
Just bought a 157 this morning, who knows when I’ll get on the snow, but when I do I’ll be ready. My 161 SL Never Summer served me well so I’ll be interested to see the difference.
Saw tons of people trying it in the Kaunertal last weekend. All coming back with a huge smile.
Yep. That's me 😅
@@Bart_the_Dart what did you think of it?
@@jasonlorance1918 Chek my latest short. I was riding 157 so 276 waist plus my 11.5 boots. I Roda mainly pow and it was great, stable and predictable with nice float without burning you back leg. On piste was choppy and visibility was shitty but felt stiffer than in hands and nose wasn't so flexy like in Cheater, which was better. But still for better feedback I will have to ride it more. And felt quite light and solid in hands.
Great review - gunna to get one to replace my Amplid Dada. Had a chance to speak with Matts from Stranda, he actually felt that the Shorty is a more relaxed ride than the full camber Biru. Biru also looks to have better edge hold vs Dada, looking forward to this. Tx again for the review
Love to see so many reviews rolling in... Your production only continues to get better too. It would be dope to see your review on the new overhauled HK pro. I copped this years 59w and I'm a bigger dude so i'm hyped they added a cm, and a bunch of ee to the 58w... a board that I know and love.
Funny you say that, it's dropping next week.
@@AngrySnowboarder RAD! Thanks dude.
Got two hopes of finding one down here in the antipodes, but like that upturned tail. Hopefully this brand gets picked up locally. Or it'll be a souvineeer board. We don't get Korua here either...
How does the Biru compare to the Telos Back/Slash? Thoughts on the new Shorty? Thanks!
Found these guys on Instagram. They are on my radar.
Own Stranda - great Boards ❤
awesome board. will you test the Descender as well?
Nope.
I have the Descender 158 and and I can tell you that is a decent damp all mountain ride that is a bit slashy in powder, decent in the trees but shines in bigger powfields. Has good pop but you need to load it up, its not skate like. The base is fast and absorbs a lot of wax. It performs good on groomers and can handle the jump line. Perfect board if you don't know the conditions before a trip. You can charge on this board but you can also take it easy and be laid back on it. Its not the easiest board too butter but its doable if you do it in higher speeds. Its nothing that you bring to the rail line. The top sheet is very prone to chipping from rental skis and similar but its just cosmetical no delimitation or similar.
Who is this board for?
The Pow chasing aggressive rider who wants the option to lay down a nice carve.
Similar boards :
Gnu banked country ( have a 2022 )
Jones Flagship ( had a 2019 this was a bit stiffer and more unforgiving )
Rossignol XV ( have a 2018 )
Bindning recomendations:
Union Falcor
Bent metal Solution
Jones Mercury
For a more surfy feel I go with my
Union Ultra or Bent metal transfer
Any more questions about this board just ask me here!
Hi, Nice reviews. You mentioned the Amplid Killswitch as a comparable board. Will you post reviews of Amplid boards for this year?
I am really curious after your videos on their technologies.
Yes.
More simmilarities with Big Kahuna. But Amplid is more on a Damp side. Biru felt definitely more lively. Both nice in a pow
I’m tempted to sell my Ride Peace Seeker and Korua Transition Finder to get this board.
I have the Peace Seeker as well, it might find itself surplus to requirements.
How does it compare to the Custom X when it comes to carving ?
It's not as stiff and dead so you can actually torsionally twist it and turn with it.
Nice Marco Brolo Real nice bro...
Hi Avran! Is there any point of adding the Biru to the Sashimi and a Superpig - besides supporting the industry?
Nope. Take the money spent and put it towards riding more right now. When the Sashimi claps out that's when I'd say get the Biru.
@@AngrySnowboarder Me will. Thanks alot! 🙌
Hi Avran! Could it make sense to own a Biru and a Dancehaul? Or are they too overlapping?
Too much overlap
Hey Avran, I like the playfulness of my Dancehaul but when I get aggressive the tail kicks out on me. I would prefer a more planted tail if that makes sense. Is the Biru better in that aspect?
It has more tail which will give you more power.
How is it compared to hovercraft 2?
Way softer, not designed the same to have that level of float.
I'm 5'9" - weight varies between 175-185. Size 9 boot. Thoughts on sizing with the new 150 option? 150 or 154? Thanks!
I’d go 54
@@AngrySnowboarder Thanks!
Have you got any opinions on the Drake bindings recommended for this board by Stranda? I'm totally unfamiliar with them and they're pretty expensive bindings with not really anything recent I can find. Always down to try something new, but price drives me to the tried and true options. I already have Union Forces I'd not mind swapping on unless looser bindings like you recommended really are worth it.
Drake bindings haven't changed in probably 20 years. Some of the worst ones we tested for this season. Save the cash, use the Forces.
Union atlas or force be better with biru? Or even softer one like rome vice? 🤔
Force.
It looks like it'd be a bit more party and a bit less carvy than the Jones Freecarver 6000S. It supposedly has a similar sidecut 'radius' but it really doesn't look as tight?
~7m on the biru, ~6m on the freecarver 6000
Avram, how does this compare to the Korua Otto?
Otto is more freestyle/twin focused.
I'm planning to buy a more cambered board, i have a rossi revenant (almost true twin, 40% camber). I mostly carve and jump side hits, i was oriented upon korua otto, but this stranda seems better in my equipement since i already got an almost twin board. Do u agree?
I understand that this board has something similar to magne traction, is it working well? How does this compare with the gremlin? I'm in between those boards and they seem similar to me.
It's not similar it's just a strategic added contact point. Flex and ride is completely different in each board.
Will it hold it's edge on carving narrow steep lines when you really need to push the board better than excavator?
It’s softer than the excavator so won’t have the power.
@@AngrySnowboarder thank you!
Stranda’s website describes this board as being for advanced riders, is that just because it’s mostly full camber?
No, it’s because it’s for people that don’t skid turns and think they’re carving.
6'1", 180lbs here, size 12 boots, recommend the 154 or 157 of the biru? I usually ride a 160W
Probably want that 57.
@@AngrySnowboarder thanks man
Do you think the base of Stranda is at level of Jones/Capita?
Jones, yes. Capita, no.
How does this board compare to the Solomon Dancehaul Pro?
No clue, haven't ridden that board.
now I'm torn between a ravine and this. any big difference in stiffness?
Ravines got a more responsive pop
I have an unused Ravine for sale if you're interested.
how does it compare to korua transition finder?
Softer torsionally and in the nose. Little quicker on the edge engagement.
Have you tried their "Tree Surfer"?
Nope.
Why the Bataleon Asym & not the NOW Select Pro for this board?
Because I said so.
@@AngrySnowboarder Avran, you are my hero, bro. I've learned so much from you, and can't even put into words how grateful I am for your guidance. Will be starting next year on the Biru, thanks to you! But I had the bindings for that board narrowed down to the NOW Select Pro & Jones Mercury until seeing your suggestion of the Bataleon Astro Asym. Can you please give me some more color on why the Bataleon over the skate tech for the Biru? Or pros and cons of all three? For reference on my riding style, I have no interest in park, switch, or jumps. Just want to cruisey carve, maximize full body comfort, and minimize foot pain and shin cramps which I am very susceptible to. Last consideration would be concerns over booting out on laid out carves bc I am determined not to go longer than 154 on the Biru, and I wear size 11 boots. So please, Dr. Avran, give me your final prescription for bindings on the Biru for me: Mercury, Select Pro, or Astro Asym? With deep gratitude for your experience, rigor, and help, John
Then buy what you want. They're just suggestions.
Does it compare at all to the Excavator? Probably softer???
Noticeably softer.
Agree
Love the look of this board, worth trading from my trusty PYL...?
Your choice.
@@AngrySnowboarder Ordered, arrives October-ish...woop
How would you compare this to the Korua cafe Racer? I've got huge feet, and ride mostly in the midwest. Want something that I can get my carves low and bomb around the hill. My other ride is a Burton Custom Flying V 162 wide - that is not wide enough.
WAY SOFTER. You ever think that maybe the fact you bought a flying v is the real issue here?
@@AngrySnowboarder The CFV was my first board back after 20 years away from the sport. Got it on a recommendation. Is the Biru a better all-arounder than the Flying V that I could really lay down into carves? Pitch the flying v? Save it for the park? Keep and get the Cafe?
Flying V is why you can't carve hard. True camber is the answer.
I'm in a similar position to you and boot out on my 159W process. Just ordered this board last week, so will let you know how I get on with the 154 at 6'6", size 12 US boots 😜.
@@Tortoisetheboywonder hey, how do you feel about riding this board? Are you satisfied? Is he good at carving? Write something more :)
how's the switch riding on this board? Thanks
Can you ride switch? Yes, then you're fine. Can't? Probably going to be a chore.
Is this board good for fast ride down the slope?
No, it likes to turn not go straight.
Compared to the ride warpig?
No
would 154 also be working for 215 and a size 13? Or you recommend going up to the 157?
Might be a little tight with those 13's.
Curse my feet. Would you also reckon that the dancehaul 157 is too narrow? 😅
@@AngrySnowboarder I'm 205 and US size 12. Feel like I could get away with the 154. Would you reckon it's worth going with the 154?
I feel you, I am 210, 6'4 and I ride a size 14. Barely able to find anything that fits me
@@bentaylor2362 @alastor1052 have you heard of Donek Snowboards?
How does it compare with the dancehaul?
Stiffer less of a volume shifted deck.
@@AngrySnowboarder Do you think in powder is better the Dancehaul than Biru?
Would this pair well with my 2006 burton mission bindings?
NOT NOW GORB FUCK!
Computer to the Korua Transision Finder?
No not computer.
@@AngrySnowboarder Sorry i mean compare (f*** autocorrect)
So flex wise they're very similar but the shaping on the Biru lends it more to a freeride deck or cruisey carver while the Transition Finder has more freestyle flare and play to it.
Was 154 enough for 200lbs tho?
Yes
Is this board good for beginners?
No, why would you even think that.
@@AngrySnowboarder Maybe.....Because I'm a beginner and don't know any better? Jeez, you really are angry.
@@obZen327 And you're a smooth brain.
@@AngrySnowboarder You couldn’t even deduce from my initial comment that I might have never snowboarded and was looking up board reviews. I am an electrical engineer, while you sir, look like an old washed out snowboard instructor with a failed marriage whom tries to hold onto being a kid and has too much angst.
@@obZen327read the channel name again, mr electrical engineer - and then try not to get all butthurt by the replies
2 sizes only? Im out.
2025 offers 148 and 150
Yet another "how does this compare to" comment: How does the Biru compare to the old Stalefish?
More rear foot dominate and carving focused over freestyle focused.
@@AngrySnowboardercan you say a little more about what you mean by rear foot dominant. I just learned to carve at the end of this season, so I'm still pretty ignorant. Do you put more weight on your rear foot than your front foot coming in and/or out of carves with this board?
