I must say I love it. I’m eighty next week. I have recently lost my husband of 59 years. I have been feeling a bit lost. Then I found your channel and saw all your lovely dots. I have been getting my supplies together and am going to start to make a dot a day. What fun. Think of how many dots I might be leaving my grands. Lol. But no kidding I do love your bag. Love the whole thing it speaks to my heart. Thank you so much.
I'm sending hugs and much love over your way... I understand your pain and want you to know how much Jesus loves you. He has a great plan for your life.
Once again I am blown away by your construction of the rice bag. So far I have made 6 dots and I shall be making a bag when I have enough . I am excited Jerri. by your craft /sewing work which is so unique . Thankyou for your gift of inspiration. and knowledge.
It’s so interesting to watch you hand sew. I learned to sew 50 years ago and always thought of hand sewing what you do to baste until you can get a machine involved. I’m going to have to rethink how I look at handwork.
Just LOVE it Jeri. A group of us at my embroidery guild are going to make a dot project and I will be making a Japanese Rice Bag with my dots. You are a wonderful teacher and I like that you are so thorough. Totally inspirational. ❤
Can I just say that you have beautiful youthful skin, and me being the ripe old age of 65, who I think looks so much older than my age, I’m so envious ❤❤
When I made my rice bag, I made a patchwork rectangle front (equivalent to the height and 4x sides). Then I kantha quilted the front to the thin batting. (I cut the batting ½" larger than the front, then trimmed after, as it did shrink.) then I made the same sized lining piece and sewed it RS together all shut and sealed (think your little dots with a backing). I whipped stitched it into a tube (whipped side out). Then I made a square sealed bottom panel and whipped stitch to the bottom of the tube. Worked great and so easy to have each piece complete! (All hand sewn). So fun!
@@JeriBellini unfortunately I avoid social media, so I am not on FB. I've only given into UA-cam in the past couple weeks, haha! Making the fabric sandwich and just whip stitching the outside and lining together was so much quicker, it will be my go-to from now on!
Oh my gosh! Another great video! Such a great way to put the rice bag together since your squares with dots already have finished edges. Love how you added the flannel to the lining. And to top it off that twine is amazing and matches perfectly. What a beautiful bag! Since I first started out making neutral squares and dots maybe I’ll make my rice bag with those since they have the finished edges. Thank you!!!
I have watch 3 of these makings , you have explained it superb, thank you and the bag is beautiful. One I watched was in a long strip with crazy patchwork so good ideas 😂
Jeri! I do, indeed, LOVE IT! I have eight dots completed and will keep working. I love making the dots. So relaxing and I am feeling so creative and connected to the dots. BTW my dots are a neutral background but batik dots. I love your entire subdued color palette. Thanks so much for your efforts to be thorough in your installation. 😍
I absolutely love it, and really hope to add this to my portable projects. I hope to make one for several of my family and friends this holiday season!

I love it. I make bags and think this is delightful. What a great project to take out on the deck and sew away without having to lunge out my big sewing machine. And I have tons of left over batting from quilting so a great way to recycle that too.
Oh Jeri, what a wonderful tutorial for a very special rice bag. You made me laugh when you said, put down your stitching and watch carefully and then a little later "are you listening?". Rest assured we all were.😄 Love how you explain things.
I’ve never been a fan of those neutral shades, but your project is making me fall in love with them!! I am fascinated with your eco-print lining fabric, which I believe you dyed yourself. I’m hoping you have a video on that as well. (Having to cut the flannel 1/8” smaller makes perfect sense because it’s about 1/16” thick… so the folded over fabric has to come “up” before it can wrap “over” towards the middle of the square. It’s just 3D arithmetic!🤓😊). Love your rice bag, thanks for the tutorial!❤

Jeri, I LOVE YOUR RICE BAG❤! I most definitely will be making one. Just think of all of the new wrinkles we have added to our brain for more memory. What makes this bag and your dots so special is that it is completely handmade, which is really a lost art, for people want everything fast and easy.

Hi Jer, love your dotty rice bag. ❤ I have made them this way too, I think the extra 1/8" in the lining is because of the tiny bit you loose by whip stitching the four patches together. The only difference is that I put the wadding behind the outer pieces but I think your way provides a better structure so I will do that next time, maybe I will make a dotty one. I agree yours doesn't need quilting, especially because you have the appliqué and the seams. Wish we could get together and brainstorm rice bags, wouldn't that be fun 😊
