I just bought a 100 dollar junker deck to finish this season due to my bolts tearing through my deck in a similar fashion. Thanks for the video. This is going to be my 'off season' project to refurb my deck, as the junker deck seems to have been sitting in the elements for a few years. My deck has been maintained, winterized, cleaned and prepped like a little baby, and I found it utterly frustrating to see such a failure to such an immaculate piece of equipment. I'm not happy that I'm not the only one to have this happen to, but it does make me stop trying to figure out what I did wrong due to the overall great condition of my deck. Thanks again for the overview!

Sure thing .It is very common on these decks. I have videos on removing and installing the deck if you need it.

I would add a couple washers to each Bolt to spread out the contact width and if it reduces the bolt length too much get a slightly longer bolt or cut it to size. I just bought a New XT1 and may put these on by next year.

Oh my goodness, I wanted to let you know what kind of mower we went with.....and it's a Cub Cadet! Oh well, I suppose they all have their problems, yes? Honestly we went with it because it was discounted $400, and due to a few steep places we were leery of the zero turn. Anyway, if it develops this problem I know the fix thanks to you!! I almost want to go ahead and order this part.😅 Thanks so much!! I love your channel, you get right down to bidness. lol

Just keep the deck clean and never put the mower away wet. It is better to blow off dirt and dust with a leaf blower than it is to hose the tractor down. With reasonable care, it should last for years.

If it is new you shouldn’t have any issues for a long time. You just may skip my next video though lol.

Hi Mike, I have a Gt2544 Cub lawn tractor. I have the spindles out for a bearing change. In the past, when i have changed tapered berings on trailer axles, I tighten the castle nut and then back it off a quarter of a turn. On the mower spindle, when I insert the bearing to the race and install the seal, the bearing can slide back and forth about 3/16 of an inch. Does that sound right? Thanks for your help.

Nah that little bit of play is normal. Strap it on and get to mowing

are the cadet XT1 46” spindles the same dimensions? was thinking about purchasing those rings as preventative destruction Measure rater than wait util the deck is trashed to worry about it.

I just got a two ring kit for my L111 John Deere 42" deck. The rings came with paper gauges, like little framing squares. What are these for?

Call me crazy, but for $25 I’m going to install those next blade change for preventative maintenance. Seems like something Cub should have installed from the get go. 🤔

Hmmm I would say a scrap yard or Facebook. Or just find that guy local who has a yard full of broke mowers.

I wonder if anyone would consider it worthwhile to install these plates before there is any bolt hole tear out.

I would if you have the deck off already
